I had a very frustrating experience here when I went to get a ring repaired. One of the stones had popped out of its prongs, and when I initially dropped the ring off, the woman I spoke with told me it would probably cost around $25 to fix. She said it would take 2-3 weeks and they would call me when it was ready. About 6 weeks later I realize I hadn't heard anything from them, so I call them up. I am told, "Your ring is ready, we tried to call you a few times." Hmm, I had checked my messages and missed calls, but OK. She then tells me it will cost *$65*! I would understand an unforeseen $10 or so from what I was told, but that's over a 150% markup from my estimate! I expressed some confusion and frustration, and told her that I was told it would be around $25, but I would be by soon to pick up the ring. About 5 minutes later, I get a call back and she tells me there was a mistake on the ticket and it will only cost $50. Well, I'm glad it was less expensive, but couldn't help but wonder if there was no "mistake," they were just dropping the arbitrary price because I said something. When I picked up the ring, the man at the counter explained that it was more expensive because the ring was silver, and silver is more brittle and harder to repair than gold or platinum. I totally understand that, but the ring was silver when I dropped it off, haha. Doesn't really explain why the estimate was so different. I had also double-checked my voicemails and missed calls for the last several weeks and saw nothing from the store, so I was still annoyed that they told me they had tried to call me. I asked them to check what phone number they had on file for me. When they checked, they read back my correct phone number with an extra "1" at the end. OK, so it had been entered into the system wrong, but let's use a little common sense because no phone number has 11 numbers, so maybe try the first 10? Or at least don't lie and say you've called me when you clearly haven't! I think it's a red flag they just jumped to telling me the lack of communication was my fault. The ring repair itself looks good, but overall, I think this shop is careless at best. They seem like causal liars who will see what they can get away with, and I wouldn't recommend them for repairs that can't be done quickly on site. read more

I hated to -- an antique cameo necklace and an antique ring, that I had wanted to pass on to my children. I went back recently, just to see if they were still there -- they were, and Mitch generously allowed me to put them on layaway. Came in to get a battery changed for my watch. First Lady spent about 10 mins and couldn't get the back case back on. Then seemed like the manager came and took charge. She got all the tools and equipment. Now she takes a pin off to undo the band to lay the watch flat. Can't get the back case on still. She now alleges that my watch is water damaged and thus the case is not going back on and that the pin broke due to water damage. I've never submerged my watch in water... so basically you didn't know what you were doing At the end the cashier asks me to pay for the battery when then returned the watch to me broken in 3 pieces. I went and took the dismantled watch to Levy Jewelers - and voila all fixed with no damage! No mention of water damage, or any other issue. If you don't know what you're doing, be honest and tell your customer the truth. read more

This store is fantastic! We were at a wedding and needed two things - a watch battery and a strand of pearls repaired so they could stay on for the wedding. The watch had another issue but they were able to fix it and replace the battery AND repair the strand for my wife all in a very short period of time before the wedding. I've used this place for years. Owner is very knowledgeable about watches and watch repair. I recently set stones in three rings. All turned out fabulous. And one stone I was replacing and his recommendation was perfect. He also has a lovely staff with great customer service. I highly recommend his store and I'm a fan of shopping locally. When I found what turned out to be "the one" she was sincerely encouraging and excited for us (my heart was won by a stunning green tourmaline that is like nothing I've ever seen). From cleaning two rings to honest feedback to allowing us to put our sweating vodka sodas on the jewelry glass - she was just the best. My (now!) fiancé and I had stopped in JCN while on vacation in Savannah last month, just to see what they had, as we had done at many jewelry shops for months. this store has absolutely great jewelry, but their prices are awful! I believe everything is marked up 200-300%. its a shame because they have many beautiful pieces, but the prices would scare off alot of people especially it being a consignment store. they're better off calling it an antique store, that way you know it'll be expensive one of a kind pieces. read more

I was having problems with my Gucci watch and needed a jeweler who could repair it. As a tourist, I didn't know where to go and ask a local for the name of a jeweler. I was told to try an old established jeweler in Historic Savannah but unfortunately they were unable to help me. Fortunately, we happened to walk by "Jewelry Consignment" on Bull Street and decided to go in and see if they might be able to fix it. The owner, Mitch, said watches are his specialty and would look at it. If he could not fix it, there would be no charge. Mitch was able to repair my watch in a matter of a couple of hours for a modest charge. Needless to say I was thrilled. The store has an interesting and beautiful collection of jewelry that is on consignment and is well worth visiting. read more
