Walked in yesterday July 12th. I got a nice watch for a gift. Took it to a place near my office to have some links taken out. within 1 day a pin came out from the band and the strap was split. Went to Jewel Time near my house for first time (Saw Good Reviews) and was greeted very warmly by a young lady. she asked me how she can assist. Pulled out my watch and explained. The owner (George) was busy with a customer and politely asked me to wait and he will help me. within 5 minutes he was done. showed him my watch and in less than 4 minutes he fixed it and made another adjustment to the band. watch fits me perfectly now. Asked him how much do I owe you and he said "on the house". He wouldn't even take a gratuity. 5 Stars are Not Enough. Now I need to buy something at his store, he earned my business. read more

I took a fine chain necklace here to be repaired. It's a pretty cheap piece but has a lot of sentimental value so I didn't mind the $20 they charged me to repair it. The work they did was very disappointing and I would never trust them with more expensive jewelry. Firstly, George is a nice guy. Secondly, his son, or whatever kid was there was working on my watch when I was specifically waiting for George. I went in today to mod my Seiko SRP777. I brought in a new crystal, seconds hand, coin edge bezel, and a ceramic bezel insert. The kid decided he thought it was a good idea to install the ceramic bezel insert off the watch, which is a huge mistake. When my watch was put back together, the bezel insert was not centered perfectly on the 12 o'clock position. As for George, he damaged my watch's original bezel when he decided to stick a razor blade under it and hammer it into the watch to remove the bezel. This can be done by putting a piece of tape on the casing to prevent scratches and gently pry the bezel off the case. Now I can't use my original bezel if I want to go back to the original look. Oh, and the kid took off the back of case WITHOUT putting a soft piece of cloth in the case holder to prevent scratches. So not the bottom of my casing has scratches. I should have just bought the tool I needed to remove the crystal and install the new one myself. That's the only reason I needed to go to a jeweler. These guys did amateur work and I'm not happy. *Update - 1 day later* - I didn't notice before due to lighting, but I found a small piece of lint under the crystal I had George install. Now I need to remove the case backing, take out the movement, and clean the inside. For anyone wanting to mod a watch, you're better off learning how to do it on your own and spend the $30-$40 on the tools. read more

Also, I left a diamond ring to be resized and when I called to ask how much the cost of repairing the tiny stones on the side would be, the owner told me he already replaced the stones...at no extra charge. impeccable, impeccable service. My dad has been going here for years and recommended me to stop by when I needed to add bands to my Rolex. i'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to mechanical stuff. I brought in my watch and they just resized the strap without adding new links to the band. They usually charge $10 for this, but they were honest and said it was a quick fix and wouldn't charge me. They are very friendly and polite here. As I thanked them for helping me and being honest and upfront, they admitted that honest was their priority; that they weren't money grubbers. They work pretty hard and go the extra mile for you. They will modernize your ring by custom making new sets for your stones, versus trying to fit it in an existing one, etc,... What a terrific find! One of the diamonds in my wedding band fell out a few months ago. I'd asked other jewelers for a price & a time quote & they were all ridiculous! Then one day, while I was waiting for a friend to have coffee with I searched. What a gem I found in Simi. First off, super friendly owners. I agree with my fellow yelpers that it feels like home, that's how comfortable. We had good conversation, not some crappy small talk. Second the skill and pricing. Honestly, the best pricing I found. Others wanted to charge double while others did not have a set price "We start at $9." Here at Jewel Time it's a fixed cost of $8. I also decided to get a new band. Initially, I went here because I had a coupon for a savings on watch batteries, and I needed one. Then, we started talking, and they fixed an earring backing for me that I had trouble getting fixed at other places. After that, I showed them a repair issue with another watch I had. Although the repair was minor, they fixed my watch without charging me, which I thought was really nice of them....I certainly wasn't expecting it. I had an old stop watch that needed repair. George spent time over the phone talking to me about it and he was so pleasant that I decided to make the trip to Simi to bring the watch in even though there were other watch repair businesses in my area. There was a part missing from the watch and even though the stop watch is no longer being made, George was able to find a part that he could use to fix it. He worked on it while I shopped for 45 minutes, and when I returned, the stopwatch was finished and working like new. While I was there, there were several other customers whom George called by name and they all were very happy to be talking with him. They were obviously repeat customers.
