The best car service ever they're very nice people and very convenient to go to very close to my house. I give them five stars.

If I could give this car service a negative rating I would, disgusting group of "people" and yes I put the word people in quotation because I use the term very loosely. My grandma passed and I was sending my mother in a cab to my aunts home before the funeral, the driver and the dispatcher were disgustingly rude. He told my mother he was going to "take his time" getting her there and showed little to no sensitivity to the situation. The dispatcher then proceeded to tell my mother that the driver wasn't going to "Rush for her 20 dollars". So if our money has little to no value then why service the area? Why are you still a business? They are located in a diverse neighborhood but there are some parts that are predominantly black and they think it's appropriate to treat and speak to black folk any way they deem fit. On top of that there have been several occasions were cabs were not clean or had horrendous odors! So this little stunt today was the last straw! Support another car service. You'd be better off walking or taking the bus. read more

If I can give no stars I would. I have been using Jewel for many years and have taken trips to the bronx from queens paying $60 - $70 in rides. They have asked my husband many times to pay before his trip which is "supposedly" their policy but when I have taken a cab I always pay at the end of my trip. I tried to speak to a manager and the dispatcher on the line was extremely rude and told me he has had customers run on him. So basically what he is saying is that they are judging my husband off his appearance and assuming he will run on the trip instead of paying when we have taken these trips many many times. They also send some drivers who's cars are very filthy and have a very strong bad odor. SUPPORT ANOTHER CAB SERVICE !!! don't waste your money on this very rude and shallow business. read more

Driver was using a tablet while taking me to the hospital emergency division. I told him it's against the law to use cell phones while driving. He said it was a tablet. I told him to put it down. He states it's a red light. It's ok!! Told him red light or not. It's against the law to use electronic devices while operating a vehicle. Told him if you need to check something on the tablet. Pull over and complete the task. 3 minutes later he picks up the tablet again while driving. I told him to put the tablet down. Then proceeds to run a yellow light. I hired a cab to arrive at emergency safely. With this poor driving on his part. I probably could have drove my own car, and take the same risk of getting into a car accident. I thought taxis where a safe option when one could not drive. Definitely not this company. Stay away by all means necessary. read more

I use jewel taxi so frequently. I am so dosappointed, i called the last few times and the dispatcher says sending a car right away come outside. I end up standing outside for 20minutes everytime. Today in particular the dispatcher told me 5 minutes, 5 minutes turned into 20. I always tip my drivers so well. Now after today for the last time Jewel will not be getting any more money from me. read more

I called this place because I needed a taxi after school ; my car go towed ugh! I first called to ask for the price between my locations before going to my last class. The man was very rude. Cutting me off mid-sentence more than once. He wasn't patient with me at all. I didn't even finish the phone call, I just hung up and went to class. I called 2 hours later and a new dispatcher greeted me. MUCH BETTER than the first one. I was told it was $14. My cab (green NYC taxi) was here 10 minutes later. The driver was such a joy to be with. I sat in the front seat, he was more than accommodating. I was so bunmed that my car got towed , he noticed that, so he started conversing with me and cracking jokes. Even after that, he took $2 off my fair. Because of that gesture , I gave him a $5 tip. Thanks driver, I wish I got your name. read more

I called them when my husband was discharged from the hospital. The dispatcher said 10 to 15 minutes. After waiting for 20 minutes, I called and was put on hold for over 5 minutes. I hung up and was told 3 to 4 minutes. The car finally came and the car reeked of perspiration where we had to open a window. The driver was rude and when I gave him the fare and a tip, he did not say thank you or utter a word. I will never use this service again. My tip should have been buy some deodorant and use it. read more

Besides, I try not to rely on liveries when I'm in a pinch without booking extra buffer time. Regarding the quality of cars, it varies: some are pretttty beat up Lincoln Towncars and others snazzy, fresh, pretty new ones. But what does Jewel do to get that awesome and coveted Fourth star? (dont even ask me what it takes to get a Fifth star... maybe free booze in the back) Their rates! yes! theyre consistently the cheapest car service in Flushing. Cheaper than skyway, cheaper than 777, cheaper than... uh, i forgot the name of the other one, it starts with an M and is a spanish word..... but gah! still cheaper than that one! Frowner: I hate drivers constantly on their earpiece chatting it up with whoever. I'm so upset at the fact that I called Jewel Car service on Christmas Eve. Not only have I used them before which I never had a problem but what the driver did and said to my family was very unprofessional. The driver didn't want to take us because I had a 2 year old. He said to get out of his car and He simply said to me that he wouldn't drive us. After he was 20 minutes late. I will never use them again. I called Uber instead and he had no problem taking us. I don't typically use cabs because I have my own car, but I needed one from JFK airport to my house that was bigger than the usual yellow cabs there so I called Jewel. The dispatcher was pretty rude and told me I hung up on him the first time I called, making me wait an extra 20 minutes for the cab even though we agreed on a pickup. After I waited 40 minutes, a spacious, clean red minivan arrived and the driver was very helpful with my bags. He also drove well and didn't make me feel sick in Van Wyck stop and go traffic. His service more than made up for the nasty attitude from Jewel's dispatcher. read more

Beware of this car service, they will rip you off! A 25 minute trip cost me $51. Yes, you read that correctly, FIFTY-ONE DOLLARS. I had just finished my appointment at the eye doctor and was searching on my phone for a taxi to take me from Queens to the Bronx (20 minutes away), and despite the not so good rating here, decided that since others said it was cheap, I'd go ahead and call them. My trip lasted a total of about 25 minutes (and only because we had to go over the Whitestone and the driver didn't have ez-pass, so we waited in line for about 5 minutes). It was one of those green cabs, and despite it being equipped with a meter, the guy didn't seem to ever use it. The driver, unsure of what I should pay, contacted dispatch who told him the fare was $51! It was such a rip-off! I've never paid more than $25 to go from the Bronx to that same area, and for reference, taxis from my area in the Bronx to LaGuardia Airport (15 additional minutes away) cost no more than $35! I would never use this car service again, even to travel within Queens, and would recommend others not use it as well. read more

I booked a car to take me to the hospital at 5 am for a surgical procedure. Twenty minutes before the car was due to arrive the dispatcher called to say they had no driver. When I booked the car two days earlier, I had emphasized that this was a trip to a hospital for surgery and had to be sure they would pick me up promptly. When I became upset and told the dispatcher they should not have agreed to a hospital pickup if they couldn't deliver, she hung up on me. I scheduled a ride for a patient from his home to the appt. The driver would not start driving until he saw money in my patient's hand. My agency was paying for the ride at the destination. He was late to the appt because they started leaving after 1/2 hour late. They also increased the price the day of the trip by over $10 when I confirmed the price twice before the day of the trip. I just called this place to make a reservation for the morning for a long ride. I wanted to meet the cab on the corner since my entrance is difficult to find. The dispatcher refused to take my reservation since it was on the corner and said I had to call 5 minutes in advance instead. First of all, I don't want to rely on that because this is my ride to work. Second of all, I find it extremely strange. The dispatcher was unacomidating and kept asking me my address even though I didn't want to meet her there. I used Jewel Car Service for work purposes today. The car was 15 minutes delayed, and my boss needed to make his flight. The driver claimed that he was not even told the time of pick up. When I called to make sure the driver was on his way (about 10 minutes late) the dispatcher woman was horribly rude. It was highly unprofessional and could have caused a missed flight. We will certainly not be using or recommending this company in the future. read more

I've been using Jewel on a daily basis for about 15 yrs. I've never had any issue with them other than a couple of rude disptchers thats no longer there anymore. Some mornings it's really busy and I do have to wait for a car, but all on end the cars are all new and clean, drivers respectful, and they are inexpensive. An added bonus is the new lady in the evening that's always so nice and friendly. Way to go Jewel, it's nice to hear a friendly, helpful and respectful voice at the end of the day. These people are rude, liars and would scam you. I called the other day for a cab and the operator said 8$. I was extremely happy until the driver asked for 16$. That's double! After a few minutes urging, he threaten me and told me that he will drop me off back at the place where he picked me up if i didn't want to pay. Bullshit drivers and operators. Come on Jewel you can do better. This place could be so much better. Yes it is cheap which is awesome, but the drivers have no idea how to get to a specific address. If u wanna a ride to the subway, citi field, or the airport they can get you there no problem, but when you ask them to take you to a specific address they are clueless. Recently I was dropped off in the wrong part of Brooklyn. The driver insisted the address was right and started to yell at me when I called his dispatcher. We were 4 miles away and had to take another $20 ride to get to my friends house. What a pain. Also most of the cars are pretty old. I noticed a town car with over 600,000 miles on it and was shocked an American car could last that long. I think my grandfather used to have the exact same car and he has been dead for 15 years... 90% of the people are rude so it's never a pleasant experience. My husband and I use this car service on a weekly basis sometimes more than once per week. We got used to the average 15 minute wait and the call stating the cab was downstairs when it was really a few minutes away. We used this car service to go as far as Long island, Brooklyn and Manhattan in addition to several areas of Queens. Our initial issue was that every time we called for the same trip we'd be told a different rate. Then I had an issue of a driver picking up another passenger who was waiting at a bus stop although I'd called for the cab. The man was also going to my destination so the driver allowed him to sit up front. I watched the man pay the driver $10 when the driver planned on giving him a free ride. Then despite being paid in full, charged me $12 for the $10 ride. When I told him the other guy paid and wasn't even supposed to be in the car with me, he said they were from the same country so he took him. On another occasion, my husband and I got stranded in Brooklyn. We'd called and requested a cab to Brooklyn and asked if they also picked up from that location. Hours later we called for a ride home back to Queens and were told that they wouldn't pick up from the same location we'd been dropped off. The last straw was just yesterday. New Year's eve we needed a short ride to the subway. We called and were told 15 minutes. I am pregnant and didn't want to wait outside in the cold until they called to tell us the cab was outside. Once called we left and took the elevator downstairs. Exactly 5 minutes later we are outside and there's no cab. I called the company and was told the driver left because we took too long and it would be another 15-20 minutes. I was so upset that the driver left after 5 minutes when we are usually the ones waiting for them and I shared that with the company. The dispatcher didn't seem to care. So I told him fine to waiting and hung up before I got even more frustrated. After waiting in the cold for another 22 minutes with no cab I called back. The same dispatcher said that because I seemed upset before I hung up, he didn't think I still wanted a cab so he didn't bother to send anyone. At this point I told him nevermind and hung up. We ended up calling Skyway who arrived in less than 5 minutes. They were also the company who agreed to pick us up in Brooklyn when Jewel stranded us there. We take cabs everywhere and will no longer be calling Jewel and no one else should. Maybe they'll make some necessary changes. read more

called for a ride from the airport. needed a minivan and reserved it earlier in the day and was told it would not be a problem, just call when the plane lands and we'll come get you. called a few minutes after we landed and was told that they don't have any drivers available for us and wouldn't have any for the REST OF THE NIGHT !. so now I'm stuck at the airport with 6 people and its almost 11 PM. another unhappy customer, who wishes yelp had a system of minus ratings. because this business certainly deserves at least -1 star. when you call the jewel car service, you get a rather surly dispatcher who gets to-from addresses from you and your phone number. he gives you a quick quote. so far so good. now, you are waiting for a car to arrive. though they have your number, nobody calls you. no problem, it is 5 min before your pick-up time, so you go outside and wait for a car to arrive. you might see a green cab, just pulling away from your house. it cannot be the car you booked, since you did not call a cab, you called the jewel car service. so you are waiting and waiting. finally, you call the car service again, and the person answering the phone screams that the car was waiting for you outside. now you see the same green taxi circling back to your house. it is driven by a rather angry driver, who is openly annoyed with YOU. still, you smile and say 'hello', because you are now late for your pet's appointment with a vet and and there is no time to waste. after spending a very stressful day at the vet's office, you call the jewel car service, as agreed earlier, for a ride back home. you are promised that a car will be there in 10 minutes. 30 minutes later, another green taxi pulls up. the driver sees a veterinarian bringing your pet to a car and starts screaming at you that he is allergic to dogs and that he told the jewel car service many times that he cannot have animals in his car. you offer to call another car service company, but the driver insists that it is a short ride and he will be ok if he drives with windows open. you agree only because it is late and the vet's office is closing. in fact, they only stayed open to kindly help you. all the way back to your house, the driver complains about stupidity of the people who own and manage the jewel car service. then, he calls them and complains about a pet in his car. you hear the owner telling the driver: 'so, what's the problem, just charge them double'. it is not drivers fault. it is the jewel car service problem of poor management. moral of this story - do not trust this car service and the prices they quote. better yet, call another service. read more

I've used this service for a few years now Faithful. However they have progressively gotten worse and worse. Most of the driver are very friendly and extremely nice but the dispatcher are rude and their favorite reply is "he's 2-3 minutes away." Which means you'll be waiting at least 20 minutes. The prices keep going up and service keeps going down. I use them too often and travel too far to pay for this kind of treatment, BYE BYE JEWEL. I'll miss the drivers. read more

Awfully rude and overall horrible customer service. If you're about to call for this car service, please don't even waste your time or your phone minutes. I called at 12:00pm and I told them to come asap and they said, it will take them 5 minutes to arrive. 12:15 came by, I called the car service again and someone said, they're outside and hung up. I DID NOT SEE A CAR IN SIGHT! 12:25, I called and asked again and an extremely rude lady picked up and started arguing with me saying, give them a minute or 30 seconds and I told her, I called at 12pm and she had the right to lie and tell me, if you keep calling and rushing, she will cancel my car ride. Such a bitch! and the car arrived at 12:50pm. I waited 50 damn minutes for a freaking car... how awesome. Also, their car company is a 5-10 minute drive from my place. Please don't even hesitate to call this car service. You're better off with Lyft or Uber. read more

do not use this taxi service i highly recommend skyway. this taxi service is terrible. the dispatcher is very rude and was yelling at me he told me to "listen bitch" he called me a "dumb bitch" all different types of bitches is what i am apparently (i wasn't aware that i was a female dog, i thought i was just a human being, but i clearly found out some interesting facts about myself). he overcharged me for the taxi ride it went from $38 to $65 ( this incident happened on april 5th). a couple of days prior to the other incident (on april 1st) the taxi driver looked at me and made me pay my fair upfront. i am not happy not one bit, i am currently awaiting to hear from the tlc about these complaints. read more
