You will not be met with warm, fuzzy greetings at Jessica, but no matter: Jessica's team of seamstresses (daughter, sister, and granddaughter it seems) are extremely skilled and efficient when it comes to making curtains. And the price is right!
For the novice like I am buying fabric for custom curtains was quite an overwhelming experience. How much fabric do you need, what length should you chose, what system makes sense for your windows, how do you want them to drape, what kind of hem? You literally need to earn a PhD in curtains before heading out to the shop. That's why it has taken me literally 5 years to curtain our floor to ceiling bay windows.
Which is why you need to know Jessica. You can go see her before you head to the shop and show her your window and she can tell you how much fabric you'll need and what system you can use. Then come back to her once you've purchased your fabric for more questions.
Just a word of advice: she suggested our curtains brush the ground but in fact that effect was pretty bad with our fabric as they made the everything look super droopy and sloppy. We needed them to hover a few centimeters above so that they stood straight. We had to go back and ask her to redo the hem, she was a bit defensive at first, but when we didn't balk at the extra 5E a curtain fee to restitch the hem she warmed up (to the best of her ability). read more
