Dr. Harriet and her team are absolute gems. From the moment you walk in, you're made to feel cared for, not just another number. The clinic is clean, calm and well organised and the appointments always run smoothly. Harriet actually listens, which is rare these days. I've never felt rushed or dismissed. With my fear of needles she did a fantastic job with my travel vaccines. If you want a GP who genuinely gives a damn, this is the place. I can't recommend it enough. RACIST!! DO NOT GO! My office called this morning on behalf of an intern in our office who is on Erasmus from France and is ill due to mold in her accommodation. Her english is not the best and when this was explained over the phone the receptionist told us they do not take patients who don't speak English and they do not use google translate. They refused to make her an appointment due to her not being able to speak English well over the phone. The colleague who called speaks perfect English and French and could have easily gone to the appointment with her to help translate but the receptionist did not even attempt to make this option available. I am not sure if this is a racist policy of the GP or practice, or if the receptionist is just particularly bitter but this should not have happened regardless. This is not only illegal but very disappointing as health care should be accessible to all, and the HSE will provide translators if needed. Dublin thrives because of tourism, so to expect everyone to speak English to receive health care is unfair and unrealistic. read more

I've been going to Jervis medical centre since 2008. Dr.Hakha as well as the other doctors and staff are always friendly and forthcoming. On one occasion Dr.Hakha was even kind enough to treat me for another issue I had when I only came in for a follow up appointment. Which I believe was 30€ or 40€ at that time. I've never had a bad experience there. They are flexible with availability and if you need to go to a hospital after for fractures Dr.Hakha will send you to the Smithfield rapid response clinic. which is almost like a hotel with minimal wait time. Your health is your wealth and I'd advise you not to bank your wealth here. I made the mistake of booking an appointment here, because I was in a serious state and needed to be seen. My regular GP was an hour away and fairly booked. The place is easy to find and there were appointments available. It cost about 50 Euros for an appointment. The building itself was fine enough, but it seemed a bit of a kip for a doctor's office. My standards are admittedly high, as I think all facilities should be as close to the Mayo Hospital in America - as far as quality and service. Still, all things considered it was a bit cramped and dingy. The receptionist was professional enough, but compassion was lacking. Their primary concern was collecting my payment. Then I was told to seat and waited about 20 minutes past my appointment. The doctor: The time with the doctor was rushed. He did ask a few questions, but did not allow for any time to appropriately answer them. It was very annoying and frustrating that I paid for this time, but he was trying to end the appointment quickly. This behaviour does not lead to having confidence in the doctor. He prescribed me 4 days antibiotics...only 4 days. I questioned if that was enough and he said if I wanted a more thorough examination, it would be 150 Euros. He was actually upselling and was pushing an STI screening. I understand the value of STI screening and so forth, but that had nothing to do with my symptom and I had the impression he simply wanted a larger fee. I tried to make the best out of this mistake of an appointment and see if he'd write me a re-fill of my regular scripts (I had my documents with me and so forth...two birds one stone sort of way.) He actually said that I'd need to make an appointment for each individual script. I never heard such rubbish. More shocking, he said I could make the appointment for today, as he'd have the time. I was being ripped off. 4 days later, the ailment was mostly cleared but not completely. Antibiotics are only effective if you take them all...problem is, it appeared he didn't prescribe enough for the job. When I queried him on the 5th day for perhaps a refill, he said "I spent considerable time with you in the examination room, you'll have to come back and make another appointment". I was highly annoyed. 10 minutes doesn't qualify as considerable time. I paid another 60 Euros and followed up with my regular family GP, who allotted me reasonable time and prescribed another 4 days antibiotics. This solved the matter. On a side note, my own GP expressed dismay that I was only initially given 4 days worth of antibiotics, as such a course was not enough and could lead to antibiotic resistance. read more

Dr Haka has been my GP for a number of years. The convenience of the location and opening hours were the initial attraction. However the quality of his care has Been outstanding. I have never received anything other than thorough and attentive care and follow ups. read more

The day I threw my back out I felt about six thousand years old. Nevermind the struggle it was to get out of Sandymount and back to my gaff, but once there I realised I was in no shape to get a bus / cab or Dart to a doctor. Lucky me, Jervis Medical Centre was just a few painfully-shuffled blocks away. Good thing the appointments run slow here, otherwise I would have missed my time. Once in, I waited ten minutes to see a doctor - standing never felt so good. When I was seen at last, I explained to the GP how it felt like hot knives were permanently lodged in my spine, making it difficult to walk, sit, stand or lie down for long periods of time. His answer? "Why don't you hop up on the table." ARGH! It took that slow scramble up, a few shrieks as he tested my claim, then a hand to get back to a sitting position for him to diagnose me with... a bad back. Thanks, guy. I was given a prescription, helped to my feet, then sent on my shuffling way without ceremony. The moral of this story: there's emergency appointments at Jervis Medical Centre, but no bedside manner. read more

I've gone here a number of times. Most experiences have been fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. The staff are friendly. The waiting area is pretty drab, but hey, if you can fix me up I'm OK with that! I'm really annoyed with my last experience here. I went to get a booster vaccination for an upcoming trip - €60 for the ''consultation'' (reading through printed info sheet & a look at fitfortravel.nhs.uk) and €35 for the vaccine itself, which I'm OK with - similar prices elsewhere in Dublin. When I asked a regular prescription of mine could be renewed, i.e. - printed off and signed, I was told that would be an extra €20 euro. Just feels as if this is a money making practice rather than a GP. Jervis Medical Centre is fine for emergencies, but if you're looking for a GP to see regularly I'd look elsewhere. read more

I hate this place. It is everything you don't want when you are feeling ill. Staff at reception are aloof, seem arrogant and uncommunicative apart from a curt "that is €65". For all their seeming arrogance they are not that efficient. I was told to go to room 3 but when I opened the door the doctor was with a patient (that patient could have been half naked but thankfully was not) I excused myself saying I had been told to go to room 3. The doctor glared at me and said "talk to HER about that". I went back to the reception and told them the doctor in room 3 was with someone. I got no apology, no eye contact just "go to room 1". Luckily that room was actually free. I agree with other reviews that this practice seems not at all patient focused. I guess they assume they don't need to be nice to people.I went this time because I had a severe viral infection and I needed to take time off work. If I had a chronic complaint I definitely would not use this practice. read more

Cowboys Ted! The worst medical - which has become a financial - experience I have ever had. I simply do not know how this place has a licence to practice. I was mis-diagnosed and given the wrong medication on my first visit. The result was an emergency visit to A&E the day after (it was the weekend now). I was then charged again for a "review" appointment that A&E advised in order to arrange a specialist appointment. It was during my lunch break, an inconvenience while still in pain, from work and after having paid more I was still sitting there an hour later before I had to go back to work without seeing anyone. The place summarizes everything that is bad in the Irish health system. I cannot put in to words how bad the place is. As for the staff, if they went to a charm school I would advise to sue them! I've had to go here a few times and it's always been an absolute pain. The doctors and nurses are very business-like and made me feel like I was just wasting their time. The one time one of the nurses had to take my blood she missed a few times before she eventually found a vein and made it out to be my fault. The doctor seems to have one solution for every problem and that's antibiotics whether you have a cold, a sprained wrist or an ear infection. The doctor was not supportive at all, and she was inpatient to listen what I had to say. I had 3 different health conditions that I needed to treat but the doctor said she was allowed to treat only 2 of them. I offered to pay an extra 60€ for the additional time required, but she said I'd need to book another appointment. She referred me to an specialist to do some exams, and I've been waiting for over a month for a return to confirm the appointment. I understand that time is money, but I'm not sure how ethical it is to leave a patient without assistance. read more

Visited here for the first time today. Doctor was lovely and helpful but the one hour and fifteen minute wait after my scheduled appointment time was very annoying. You have to pay upfront and after the first thirty minutes of sitting on the waiting room I understood why as I'd say most people would leave if they had to wait so long. Sitting there for such a long time with no magazines was just awful. Nothing as bad as feeling awful and sitting in a waiting room of other sick people not knowing when you were going to be called. I do not recommend this place anyone who want to get better they called themselves 'medical clinic' i just do not know why??? I went there twice but never ever do this mistake again. The first time was more than a year ago and i wasn't really satisfied that time. The service that i get i would not call professional at all. So i decided i do not go there again, i changed my doctor. But just a few weeks ago finishing late in work the only doctor office which i found open was the Jervis Medical Clinic. I though l give other chance to this place, maybe other doctor will be treat this time, better than a year ago and I was worried about my problem Now I know I should have never gone to Jervis Medical Centre !!! The doctor could not give a proper diagnosis to me, 3 medications were prescribed to treat 3 different conditions. Of course my problem cause was different (find out later) but I was told it could not be a cause. I was also advised to me try these medications and wait two weeks so see it works or not. A week later I went to other doctor because my condition is got worse. The service was nice and i got a straight forward answer from a treated doctor and surprisingly the cause of my problem was which the doctor in Jervis medical center clearly stated is not the cause of my illness. While i was waiting to get better (follow the advice i got in Jervis Medical Center) my conditions turn worse. So my new doctor had to prescribed antibiotics, steroids, and 3 other medications taking for weeks. i also would like to mention one of my friend had a similar experience. When I went to the Jervis Medical Center, the doctor saw me and told me I had a chest infection. She prescribed a weeks worth of antibiotics. When I finished the week, I felt a lot better however I could feel the symptoms coming back. So I rang to get another prescription and was told that the doctor would be in tomorrow till 7 and she will ring me at some point. At half 6 I rang and was told that she was just too busy and would hopefully get around to calling me. I have rang since and still have not gotten to talk to the doctor. Obviously she isn't bothered to make an effort to help me because I don't want to pay them another 60. read more

Jervis Medical Centre is located near the street corner of Parnell street and Jervis street. The clinic is a drop in, where 50 euro and a short wait and you'll get to see a docter fairly promptly. In the few times i have visited the clinic i felt i was properly examined, talked to, explained what was wrong in me and left with faith in the prescription i was given. The establishment is very professional and clean and offers pregnancy testing and STD screening and treatment. If you're condition is too serious for the clinic to handle you will be referred to St James Hospital. read more

I would not recommend this GP practice at all. I hardly have ever been to a GP, but I was expecting a lot more. I needed to confirm my first pregnancy with the doctor, which is all that actually happened. I felt made fun of the fact that I was nervous and full of questions during this new and scary time. I felt like I was wasting her time, and if they did not have to pay prior to the visit I would not have paid. When I asked for a note for work, as I cannot keep my food in and feel very tired and stressed to answer basically was ' suck it up' If you can avoid this clinic, I would recommend you do so. Booked an appointment for 3.30. I knew the test I was having done would take 10 minutes maximum, so I was sure I would have enough time to go on my lunch break from work, allowing for the usual 5-10 minute delay in these places. Got there 5 minutes early and filled in paperwork etc, was told to take a seat. They said there was a problem and that they could not find me registered on the system for the test I was having done, so they phoned up a helpline number, and even though I was sitting the other side if the waiting area, I could hear them call out my PPS number, name, address and DOB. So much for confidentiality. Anyway I waited for 40 minutes after my scheduled appointment time, but in the end I had to leave without having the test done, as I was already going to be late back to work. During the 40 minutes I waited, any time I asked how many people were ahead of me, they basically shook their heads and said I would be 'called soon' Unprofessional and serious breach of confidentiality, calling out all my details for the world to hear. No explanation or warning that the appointments were more than 40 minutes behind schedule. read more

Booked an appointment, arrived at the time booked and announced myself (you have to pay the 60 euros as soon as you arrive) but had to wait one hour and a half past the time to see the doctor, while some people walking in got to see him before me. When, after 1hr had passed, I asked the receptionist how long would I have to wait, she mumbled that I was only walking in, then retracted, then just said "sorry, you're the next". All in all, she had a weird and unprofessional behaviour. The doctor was okay, but a bit rushing, and not very clear in its explanations. The place feels quite old and tacky. To sum up, the only good point compared to the other medical centres I know is its location. read more

I had to go here a few times and I must say I found it very impersonal. I know that is the nature of such a business - it is a walk in centre after all. But I've been to other ones that weren't quite so business like or something. Still, it provides a pretty efficient service and an appointment is not necessary, which is always handy. I fell about 2 weeks ago and cut myself very badly i went to casualty in the Mater and i was told i had to wait 9 hours so i attended Jervis Medical Centre as they suggested and paid €120 to be seen for stitches and a vaccine for tetanus. I was seen within 10minutes. the doctor was very pleasant and so were the staff i would definitely recommend this place. read more

I've had mixed experiences. One of the female doctors I encountered about 2yrs ago was excellent, However her colleagues leave a lot to be desired. eg: I got flu during the height of swine flu, rang the doctor for advice (as recommended for swine flu) as it wasn't going away. I was not a risk category and would never normally visit the doctor for a flu, but i was told i should definitely come in. Why miss out on the €50 fee?. On retrospect I should never have gone in, risking vulnerable patients in the packed waiting room but I felt absolutely dreadful. After the 2 min consultation, he started prescribing amoxicillin which he said I probably didn't need. Damn right: I'm allergic to penicillin. Luckily, despite the fever, I had enough wits about me to remind him of my allergy, despite it written in red on the chart onscreen. That, needless to say, was my last visit there. read more

After over an hour of waiting I finally got to see a doctor who seemed disinterested and was keen on upselling additional tests. I have been going to this clinic for the past number of years, mainly for repeat prescriptions. I should have known not to return after my first bad experience. One time the receptionist thought she gave me back too much change and had asked me to check my purse to see if I had been given an extra five euro. I knew I hadn't, but she was adamant that she did. I kindly emptied my purse in front of her and showed her the amount of money I had. I explained to her exactly how much money I paid her and what I received in change. Later on that evening, I received a call from her when I was at home, telling me she had done a money count for the day and she was short by a fiver. I explained to her again that there was no way she gave me extra money. She then went on to ask me to check the pockets of my coat/clothing that I had. I was wearing no clothing with pockets. I then suggested to her to look back on the security camera to see transaction. I was very upset and hurt being treated like a dishonest customer. I would also like to mention on two occasions during my consultation with my doctor I have explained to him at the beginning that there were a few things I needed to get him to check, to which he replies "Start with the most important first, because we don't have time to go through it all, it's a very busy day". Paying 55e for a consultation you are entitled to get your moneys worth, but not in this practice. I finally learnt my lesson to never return again. This place is all about the money. If you can, please avoid to go there. It is throwing your money away and not getting results. The treat is very impersonal. They are just rushing you to go and barely ask any questions. I believe that had food poison when I went there. It is common sense that when you go to the doctor with similar symptoms as morning sickness, being a young female, they ask you few questions about possible pregnancy. But they didn't. they just told me not to eat and gave me a prescription!! The doctor didn't even know what is to have lactose intolerance, as I told him that I cant eat any diary products, he said that I should drink low fat milk. This doctor was a joke. read more
