After multiple communications, the issue was still not resolved, which ultimately led me to block further charges through my credit card company. I later received written confirmation via email from Crunch Fitness stating that my membership was canceled and that any accumulated fees would be erased. However, approximately 1 month later, I was contacted by a collection agency stating that I owed $116 - directly contradicting the written confirmation I had already received. Based on my experience, signing up was easy, but exiting the membership was unnecessarily difficult and stressful. I recommend anyone consider Crunch Fitness fully understand the cancellation process, get everything in writing, and monitor their accounts closely.

He obviously did not pay attention to our conversations and recommended my child for his program that's from 7:30-8:30 Monday through Friday. As a working parent, that meant I had to get up earlier to get my child there for the program, drive home and dash off to work. I was willing because my child was very interested and I was looking forward to joining this community and meeting people. On 8/3/26, we arrived at the metuchen location only to be told the practice was at the Edison location. We dashed there to try and be as on time as possible out of respect. Upon arrival to the correct location, I saw a couple of what appeared to be 20 year olds. NOT ONE PERSON EVEN SAID GOOD MORNING! There were no introductions. A man, who later turned out to be head coach Adam Soural, seemed bothered by my questions (where are the locker rooms and what should we do before this practice starts) and then told my child to get in the water. Again, nooooo introductions or even a second to let my child know he's in a safe, community based environment, what he can expect, what he will learn, nothing!!! Not one adult there offered anything to say my child is in good hands or that we are welcomed into this community. I thought for a moment, maybe it's me, but then another parent showed up, upset. He also was not told the correct location and informed me this type of attitude is to be expected from Adam. At the end, Adam let me know the program was not the right fit for my son and told me aquatics coordinator, dawn Willemsen, would reach out. Here we are two days later and I have heard nothing. Even after emailing and expressing my disappointment in the lack of community the program has. First impressions matter when it comes to leaving your child with "trusted adults" THIS IS NOT IT!!!!! I would give this place zero stars if I could.

Then when I got on with my cardio, the TV was staticky, and while the gym had some decent stuff and some fit-looking members, I have to say these are not great facilities and the space is a little cramped. They offer no towels, no hairdryer, and in general, not one of the best I've used. I'd give it a 4 if not for the fact that the TV, lack of towels, parking issues, and especially getting yelled at, all made me not enjoy my workout much.

As someone who has always been excessively overweight, I've constantly struggled to go to the gym consistently or in choosing the right foods. Since joining, I've had constant support from the trainers both in and out of class, most especially with nutrition. My first day I was extremely nervous, thinking that all eyes would be on me, much like how I had felt before when going to local gyms. However, there has not been a single class that I've gone to where someone has not introduced themselves to me. THE MAX truly is a family, and you feel that from the minute you walk in to the moment you leave. I have to give a special shout out to trainers Marissa and Caitlyn for always going above and beyond to kindly correct my form, for pushing me to go harder when I felt like I might not make it to the end, and for helping me with my nutrition and always checking up on me throughout the week. The info was not forthcoming and I had to ask a lot of basic questions. 2) While talking to me someone wanted to pay their fee and was instructed to do it on the Driven reps cell phone ...not good! 3} The $15.92 a week turned into pay 2 months upfront. 4) The 'simple nutrition program' is the Paleo diet and a recommendation to cook in a crock pot or air fryer. 5) There was nothing mentioned about 'working with your own coach or FREE meal plans' 6) I indicated that my goal was to lose weight and the Driven rep kept saying no that shouldn't be your goal Needless to say I was less than impressed and very disappointed because what was written in their ad sounded so good and I really wanted to join. The girl at the desk never provided any information about anything. I did not know I needed quarters for the locker rental, nor did I not know I couldn't wear a baseball cap or have a crossbody bag. As soon as I got on the rink, the attendant told me I had to get off because of my hat. I wasn't upset or anything, I quietly skated off, returned my skates and gathered my belongings. As I was exiting I observed men on the skating rink with beanies on their heads and skull caps. Additionally I observed adults walking on the rink as they were helping their children. I did not know that the rink was also a track. I would think that's a bigger safety hazard than wearing a hat. When I went to the front to inquire about a refund there was a gentleman in front of me who had on a hat and I was tempted to say something to him but I also wanted to see if the clerk would remind him of the hat policy, but she didn't. I don't know if the assumption is that everyone who visits are regulars and know the protocol, but it wouldn't hurt to have signage at the front desk and to also remind the attendants to say something to the patrons.
