Friends gave us a hard time about watching the tiny t.v.s in our B&B rooms at night before falling asleep. However, without watching local television we would have totally missed out on this glorious find. A local travel show did a story on it so we added it to our list of places to see. This is not run by the OPW this is private property the owners just happened to discover contained the only remnants of an entire medieval village on the entire island. They have worked very closely with preservationists to analyze and study what lies both above and below ground as well as the history of the village and the church. This is also a working farm so you can take the opportunity to watch a top rated and prize winning working dog herd sheep, and do some fishing if you want. Really a fun, fact filled, amazing walk around the old church yard.
Definitely worth a side trip out of Kilkenny, probably best to call first as the web site is not the most up to date source of information. read more
