This is an interesting structure near the waterfront in Waterford. The Tower was built in 1863 when Waterford was Ireland's busiest industrial port. During this period there was a number of large scale public works projects built, including this structure. It is said to be one of the best known landmarks in the city. The mechanisms for the clock are still of technical and engineering interest. It has always caught my eye because it sits directly across the street from the hotel in which I typically stay.
