So, I am Asian. And of course, I have Asian hair. I have realized that sometimes it is just best to go to a Chinese place to get my hair cut, because I don't really have to explain myself. And besides, it is usually fairly cheap and I come out with a decent cut.
I get here on a very rainy morning. I was basically soaked from head to toe since I rode my bike over from the hotel. I walk in the door, and everyone just stares at me. I must've looked like a disheveled mess. In any case, one of the stylists was nice enough to give me a towel to dry off. Then, I took a seat and waited for about 30 minutes to get my hair cut. The salon was busy today and that is a good sign.
They speak Chinese here and also some English, so rest assured, you don't have to be exclusively Asian to get service here.
Now here's the funny part. One of the stylists says to me in Chinese, "you don't look Chinese at all. You look like a tanned Korean girl." I am listening and laughing inside. How many times have I gotten this? I mean seriously, I speak Chinese fine, so what is this with me being Korean all the time? She then says to me,"you must be one of those Koreans that learnt to speak Chinese." Hilarious. This is not the first time I have heard this.
In any case, Jenny was able to cut my hair in about 30 minutes and she did a great job with the layers and trimming. Exactly what I wanted, although I am not one to fuss too much. The best part was the price, it only costs 15 Euros! Now that's a bargain!
Give this place a try, Jenny does a good job. Mind you there is no ambiance in here, but there are three good luck cats by the reception desk, so I guess business is good! read more
