Sharon Hinds appears, by her personal website reviews, as an empathetic, kind and helpful counselor…read morelisted on the Harris County List of approved counselors. After a rocky start getting connected, having a great experience with a staff counselor named Charles, Charles no longer worked for Ms. Hines and therefore, Ms. Hinds became the primary counselor for my daughter. (I can only imagine why Mr. Charles no longer works for Ms. Hinds). After several calls with Ms. Hines, I would hear from my daughter that Ms. Hinds was 'bullying' her. Ms. Hinds would degrade and shame my daughter with every call, not allowing my daughter to speak, but instead constantly speaking over her as well as speaking harshly and causing my daughter great distress which ended in tears. My daughter dreaded every appointment because of the fear of more verbal and emotional abuse from Ms. Hinds. It was hard to believe Ms. Hinds would be so insensitive as in phone conversations I had with her personally, she presented herself as a kind and professional Counselor. However, during the most recent (and final) call my daughter had with Ms. Hines, I heard, first hand, how Ms. Hines berated my daughter. Ms. Hinds did not show empathy, did not try to be helpful or try to understand my daughter was attempting to 'follow' what Ms. Hinds was asking. Ms. Hines interpreted the confusion and questioning of my daughter as having a 'smart mouth', which, she did not (I was present for the call). I would be the first one to agree if it were true, however, it was not. In addition, when I 'joined' the call to speak with Ms. Hines and diffuse the situation and bring a calm presence, Ms. Hines continually 'talked over' me (which she also did to my daughter), stating she 'does things differently'. She sure does! Here is what Counselors SHOULD do: *it's the counselor's role to create a comfort zone for the client. *it's the counselor's role to be a good listener. *counselor's are obligated to empathize with their clients feelings and inner issues. *counseling sessions should NOT leave you with negative thoughts following your session *counselors should not express anger towards you or carry angry behavior during sessions *counselors should not yell at you or raise a voice against you, this will never help you in healing or recovering from the mental health issues. *Counselors should allow you to speak your mind - A productive relationship with a counselor needs to provide a base level of safety. *Counselors should feel like a trusted ally, one with whom you enjoy speaking *Counselors should treat you as a person first, then your mental health issues *Counselors should be on time and give you the full amount of time you're being charged for. If you're on time to your session, you deserve the amount of minutes the therapist is charging you for. Don't be fooled by discoverandrecover.net reviews. While some people may have had success and been treated well, she does not appear to have the best interest of her clients in mind.

There is a reason and season for all that we experience and I accept this as a much needed time for Re-direction, Re-flection and REINVENTION. Onward and Upward.

Although she is not covered through my insurance she is sweet enough to work out a plan that works for me. I'm fortunate to live a few miles from her office and would rather see her than someone else who is covered under my work insurance. If you need any form of therapy I do recommend coming to see Dr. Shana Clark!

We all have our stresses: Work, relationships, family, friends ... and you can't always turn to close friends and/or family because A) They're your stress triggers or B) They can't give you unbiased feedback. Especially my family. Opinions, opinions, opinions. Sometimes, you need a professional. Shana Clark is a licensed professional counselor, and she specializes in so many issues: relationships/couples counseling, anger management, career counseling, problem solving, drug/alcohol abuse, grief/loss, anxiety ... I like that she has a spiritual background, and she is one of the few in people in Houston who uses the Thought Field Therapy/Emotional Freedom Therapy (TFT/EFT) and Tapas Acupressure Technique (TAT) aka "tapping" to clear of any negative emotions, energy and thoughts. She's also very honest and doesn't "shrink" you ... she tells it like it is based on professional experience. I dig it.
