We had a pretty good lunch at Jen as we were passing through Jena on Boxing Day. Most restaurants were closed, but thankfully Jen was open and not too busy.
I had the Tantan Ramen, which was great. The noodles were thin and springy, and the sesame-based sauce was the perfect amount of deep savory with a good kick of chili (but not an excessive amount). I was a little disappointed that a 13-euro bowl of ramen didn't include an egg, just the noodles, some ground meat, and a leaf of bok choy. (You can order an egg and other options separately.)
My daughter had the kids' ramen, which was decent but paled in comparison to the Tantan. And my wife had the spicy vegan ramen, but wasn't terribly impressed. The service was friendly and quick. The atmosphere is (to my mind) very typical ramen shop: no frills, but perfectly fine for a sit-down lunch. read more
