He loves Battle bots so I thought it would be great to send him to ID tech after receiving a flyer after attending a Battlebots show in Las Vegas. After spending $1600, we were disappointed. He had a great time, but he didn't learn anything, or do half of what was advertised. They didn't get to play outside like was advertised, not much of a campus tour, didn't learn coding, and spent a large amount of time on Roblox. In fact, his closest friend from camp came from the Roblox class. We were supposed to get to witness the final competition, which we later found out took place before parents were allowed in, and there was no certificate ceremony as advertised. By the time parents were allowed in, the kids were just playing with the robot and passing the controller around. He didn't really seem to know any of the kids in his class, and the other kids seemed to just be parallel playing as opposed to collaborating as a class or teammates. We had invited his relatives for the last day, as it was supposed to be presented as this big event to witness what our kids had learned, but in the end I was grateful they weren't able to make it. I feel like I would have been embarrassed of what they would have seen. Also for the price, he didn't get to keep the robot. And the flashdrive he received? It was completely blank. His favorite part of the experience you ask? The cafeteria.

We had a decent experience a few years ago, but this year was a crazy waste of money. The…read moreBattlebots camp was mostly just break time sitting in front of the computer playing Roblox or other games. There was supposed to be a coding element, but the counselors said they would do all of the coding, and the kids learned nothing. Then the counselors dropped the ball and failed to do the coding that was needed. The assembly work done for the bots was much easier than a basic LEGO set, so I'm not sure what engineering-interested kid could possibly learn anything from this camp. CoderSchool in Berkeley is half the price and actually teaches coding.

All of the senior counselors at the time I was there are proficient on their instruments and care a lot about the craft and process of being a great musician! I was lucky enough to teach through Mikes camp as well and feel the gifts the camp in its early years provided me later in my life and relationship to music and teaching on my own!

I…read morecome back each and every year because it is always the most memorable and exciting part of my summer. Mike and his staff are like family to me-- they're always so welcoming and friendly, and they put a tremendous amount of effort into making sure that each kid feels heard. Being in a small band (4-5 kids) with a professional musician as your counselor creates a safe space for kids to explore and grow as musicians. When putting together bands, Mike Finley makes sure to factor in skill level, as well as age. He puts kids into groups where he thinks they will be most comfortable, however, he always leaves room for growth. The distinguishing factor between Summer Rock Camp and its competitors (e.g. school of rock) is that Rock Camp will teach your kids about all aspects of music-- rather than simply copy a couple songs with their bands, kids have a chance to learn important lessons about music theory, rhythm, etc. These skills are what will set you apart as a musician in the long run-- kids are encouraged to be creative, and some bands even learn to write their own original pieces. Rock camp equips young musicians with the skills they need to thrive-- this camp helped me learn to collaborate with others, master the art of performance, and greatly improve my skills on the guitar. Everybody works toward the performance on Friday, and each kid gets a chance to showcase their hard work. Overall, it's extremely rewarding, no matter what your skill level is. I never felt like my was being compared to others at the camp-- the counselors create an extremely positive atmosphere that makes it easy to be proud of yourself and everything you accomplished in just five days. Rock camp has taught me so much, not only about music, but about myself. I met one of my biggest role models at this camp-- nearly all of the counselors are pursuing music professionally, and many of them have degrees in music from top universities around the country. It's truly a phenomenal staff, and they have a lot of experience with working with kids in a musical setting. I plan on coming back to Rock Camp every summer for years to come-- I have extremely fond memories of performing, rehearsing, and just messing around with the other campers and counselors. If your kid is interested in music at ALL, send them to this camp.

The teacher doesn't have enough ability to manage/teach the class, letting the kid sit there for the whole class (1 hour) doing nothing when he was dealing with another student. Moreover, it is not the first time. The last class, the teacher debugged by himself for the whole class and let my kid sitting there doing nothing as well. Second, the school operation and system is a mess. They mismatched different level students in the same section. Further more, the teacher is new and inexperienced to teach this class. The school doesn't manage the teacher. The worst part is the management and the customer service. My kid was crying due to the frustration that the teacher not teaching him at all for the continuous two lessons. The front desk person pretended not knowing what was happened from the beginning until I told the details. Then she admitted that they had the internal discussion of the issue and will refund the class / change the teacher. But they cannot even guarantee the same thing won't be happened to my kid after changing the teacher. So there is no internal management for teachers. The way and the attitude of handling the issue showing me they don't have basic customer service. Wasting time and destroying the passion of a kid's learning is more than a refund!

As a working dad who's tried 5 different coding camps, here's why we keep coming back: Unlike those overcrowded programs where kids get lost in 15-student groups (looking at you, TechyRobot Camp), Integem keeps classes at 8 students max. Last Thursday I peeked into my son's session - two instructors were helping them debug AR robot code while eating pizza. That personal attention matters. We pay fair amount for weekly 3-hour sessions. Compare that to those over-priced "premium" camp down the street that just does basic Scratch programming. My 10-year-old literally learned to program AI chatbots before he could tie his shoes properly! Last year my shy son used their Python skills to create an AR "pet dragon" that helps her present school projects This summer they're building AI-powered garden sensors...that actually work in our backyard! My kids loved the hands-on projects and fun games, and every year, they've wanted to go back to try new courses. I appreciate a few things about Integem: 1. They stayed open during 2020 and 2021 when most camps were closed, renting hotel conference rooms so kids could still meet, learn, and socialize. 2. Integem makes complex topics like AI, coding, robotics, and 3D animation easy to understand. My kids love showing off what they've learned, which boosts their confidence, improves their schoolwork, and helps them become more tech-savvy problem-solvers. 3. What I love about Integem is that their programs are so unique. And they're always innovating with new programs. They go beyond just basic coding, robotics or art--my kids have done things like AR coding, interactive 2D/3D AR animation, AI robotics, AI+3D game design. Now they will take AI space drones. It's been so exciting for them and really got them thinking about what's possible in the future. In my kids words, Integem make them the "cool kids" among their friends --and standout students in their teachers' eyes. The founder was an engineering professor and is super knowledgeable and nice. Their teachers are top college students who are both tech-savvy and click well with my kids. Their customer service has always been helpful. Integem has been a great place for my kids to learn and grow--they look forward to it every year. PS: I took this picture while picking up my kids from their extended care session.
