We are a family of 8 and many of my companies employees are patients but nothing more than the briefest of introductions before starting in on my youngest. By the time we had left we had been admonished about his oral care, correcting his bite, expanding his palate, and potentially removing his tonsils. When I asked how I could expect compliance from a 7 year old to wear a retainer I was told ... take his iPad away from him if he doesn't ... or he will end up with a palate expander later. I am thankful that I many excellent long term relationships with orthodontists and ENTs who contradicted the given advice to give me a better and fuller understanding of this particular child's challenges. The final and completely unnecessary straw was having me sign a document acknowledging the price if his twin needed a tooth pulled ... because you can't just send the quote home with me- you need my signature... (because I'm 5.) Employees were all perfectly nice and no complaints about friendliness of employees or cleanliness and appearance of facility. The buck ends at the top though. At the end of the day it's about the attitude and relationship with the dentist. It's wasn't there for me that day.

Dr. Terry Olejko came in to take a look and stated what he thought it was which would not be cancerous. He then asked if I would like for them to do a biopsy since I was already in the office. Sure! I was taken into another room and the whole thing took less than 10 mins. The staff is amazing with comfort and care. They explained the insurance part and I was able to go back to work. They called me to make sure I was doing ok and advised if I had any issues with the sutures or the site of biopsy, to give them a call. They called 3 days later and stated it was confirmed by OSU that it was exactly what the Dr Olejko thought it was.....not cancerous! What a huge relief. It was a difficult case. She was surprised I had not felt more discomfort from the infection before coming in. She worked for quite a while to remove all of the decay, as it was a hot mess. She kept the area pain-free for me during the procedure. (And...bonus...I had more energy once my body was not fighting that infection.) Afterwards, she presented me with options about what I could do next. I opted for a dental implant. Her wonderful, efficient staff presented me with an accurate estimate, explaining how and why any treatment charges were slightly more than my dental coverage. (It's nice to know this information in advance.) Again, each subsequent procedure was painless. In my case, there was minimal swelling and bleeding. I'm sure each patient's gum condition and healing outcome is different, but I would trust Dr. Hamal to be able to navigate those differences. She is practical, empathetic, forthcoming...an experienced, skillful professional. I highly recommend her.

It's incredibly frustrating and unprofessional to cancel a scheduled appointment after I already blocked off my calendar and used PTO from work.
