He wanted to have a 3D scan of my tooth before he removed a crown or took an impression to verify whether the root was fractured. His "Colonel" at the VA since did the 3D scan and redid the root canal yesterday. The VA advised me that I would need to get a new crown installed within the next two weeks. However, when I called today to make that urgent appt I was told that Dominic is booked up until July 18th for "VA patients" and that the office manager was out today. It's a sad state of affairs when Veterans like me get the shaft and yet civilians get preferential treatment.

Eventually, Dr. Skiffey Sr. retired and Dr. Skiffey Jr. took over. I think he needs to go back to school for some refreshers. He did an implant on me and everything seemed to be okay until it was time to put on the abutment and crown. Apparently the implant was not drilled vertically so the abutment leaned inward toward my tongue. When they did the crown, something must have been scanned wrong because the crown came out very high (I couldn't even touch my other teeth). By the time he leveled it out so that I had an even bite, he had ground away most of the surface and the metal underpinnings were exposed. The crown leans inward and catches on my tongue when I eat and the outer edge barely touches my gumline and collects food all the time. They think it is fine. I think it was done incorrectly and they don't want to admit that mistakes were made.

I've never been to a dentist before that could actually make crowns and bridges right there while you sat in the chair so I thought that was pretty fantastic. I went in and was initially impressed with the front desk people. They are so pleasant and not staring down their nose if I worried about paying for the service. First, it was so much less expensive than dentists I called to have a single tooth pulled. I was never left alone and the person (I am horrible remembering names but I will never forget how awesome she was) that stayed with me and took X-rays made a calm happen right away. I say that because I do not, or I should say, did not like dentists or doctors in general. But....when the dentist came in, he treated me like I've been there a thousand times and calmly suggested a treatment plan. I feel like a turn coat when I have to admit, there is a dentist that I trust....like immediately. The treatment plan could have included expensive root canals, but the Dentist explained the best course of treatment, far less painful in my mouth and wallet. So thank you everyone on the Next Door app and i hope this review helps someone find a good local dentist if you are anywhere near Norton, Ohio. I found my new Dentist.

However, the Sinick dentist told me I needed a dental implant after spending about a minute with me, with zero explanations, and their treatment plan was a very large amount of money (over $7,000) I got a second opinion. This dentist spent much more time with me, actually showed me the x-rays, and offered less expensive options such as a bridge that Sinick did not. Additionally, the cost of the implant was less. Needless to say I will be switching
