I called to make an appointment as a new patient two weeks ago, was told I will receive some forms to complete before the appointment. Two days before the appointment, I still haven't received the forms, so I called the dental office to inform them about the situation. The same lady who arranged my appointment told me my appointment is canceled and the forms wasn't mailed. I was surprised that I didn't get notified beforehand. When I asked how we should proceed then, should we arrange another appointment, the lady simply said "well, I don't have any other time available." It is okay if they can simply tell me they don't accept new patient or accept me as their patient, but scheduled a time and cancel afterward with no notification, that doesn't seem to be a good business practice. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Bloch for 5+ years now, I have been very pleased, not a single problem. He is polite, knowledgeable, has a good bedside manner, and answers questions thoroughly without rushing. His staff show great respect for him and visa versa. I switched to another dentist for a short time due to an insurance change and found out how honest and caring he really is, he saved me from a dire situation with another dentist who pushed fillings and root canals. Needless to say I happily switched back. He makes you feel like you are important and that he cares because I believe he truly does care. read more

Before scheduling an appointment I asked if they still accepted Delta Dental, which the receptionist should have responded NO. Instead of saying no, she said that I will pay upfront then be reimbursed by my insurance. Well insurance did not reimburse me since they aren't accepted. Still 5 stars customer service! I've been going to this clinic for over a decade. The staff are very friendly, professional, and have amazing work ethic. Facility and work stations are always clean. I always see staff wiping down equipment prior and after use. Staff are trustworthy. The work is never rushed and they really take their time. Thankfully, they also accept my insurance plan because I find myself getting a lot of work done due to my teeth grinding. Their receptionist, Silvia takes her job seriously and I can tell she takes pride in her work. I enjoy the conversations I have with her and I appreciate that she is very meticulous and prompt. Dr. Bloch is amazing as always and very personable. I always look forward to chatting it up with him. He has literally seen me grow up for over a decade and I appreciate all the advise he has given me throughout the years. I also love that they are timely and meet your scheduled appt. They send your reminders via text and email. You hardly have to wait long in the waiting room. Overall, staff are wonderful and hardworking, the location is convenient and has parking, the clinic is clean and inviting, the costs for dental work are reasonable, and most of all I find them trustworthy. Dr Bloch is OK but his staff makes random policy changes and then bills outrageous amounts when you don't get notified, and therefore don't comply with them. I was his patient for 23 years until I was accused of, and billed $150, for supposedly standing up an appointment when i called 24 hours in advance (to change my appointment) and was told the policy changed to 48 hours. The $150 bill stated iI didn't call 24 hours (not 48) in advance 3 times but when I asked for when I had ever done this before (and insisting for that info over a very rude office clerk talking over me) I was finally told they could only find one time 18 years ago. I highly doubt I ever did this, but they seem comfortable making things up as they go with no real records of anything to back any of it up. I guess times are tough for them, go figure... It makes me wonder what else they feel comfortable with making up. read more

Dr. Bloch and his office are great. I've been going for about 12 years, and I really appreciate the entire team. He explains what's going on and tells you what is necessary and what is not. He was a teacher at Loma Linda so you know he's effective. Anesthesia is important and they don't rush it. They note that I am slower on one place and they prepare for that. I've been with Dr. Bloch for several years. I greatly appreciate his manner and his office is run quite well. I've never had any issues with him or his work and I've had root canals, caps, cavities, and numerous cleanings. He takes interest in his patients and makes himself available almost ANY time. I've recommended several to his practice and all have been completely satisfied. My mother-in-law comes from Arizona just to see him. Dr. Bloch's office makes sure you can make an appointment with reminders and I really appreciate this. One more thing... he noticed when I first went there that I was grinding and chipping my teeth. This was due to bad orthodontics as I had needed and not got braces when I was younger. He recommended and excellent orthodontist who fixed my alignment issues. I called to reschedule my appt the day before. The receptionist changed my dental appt and said nothing more. I then received a bill for $150 for not giving 48 hours notice. I called and asked why I was billed. I was told that I had signed a form each year saying they had the option of billing for last minute cancellations. I told the gal that she had not said on the phone that I would be charged and that I felt like she had taken my choice away from me to decide whether I should keep my appt since they intended to charge me so much to make a change. $150 is alot of money and I honestly would have kept the appt rather than be charged. But I was not given the choice. When I asked to have Dr Bloch call me about it, I received a return call from someone in the office stating that he did not have time to call and that I needed to pay it. I've been going to Dr Bloch for 7 years. Dr Bloch is very thorough and knowledgeable. He does excellent work and his prices are comparable to others. He really understands the anatomy and can diagnose issues that aren't necessarily teeth related. I thought I had TMJ but after Dr Bloch examined my jaw, said it wasn't TMJ it was muscular. Despite having wonderful service with my crown work, I haven't had a good experience getting the money owed to me after leaving the area. I gave my forwarding address to Veronica in December 2011. After not receiving a check in January, I called to make sure my information was correct. Both my phone number and address was verified. We went to this dentist as a referral from another patient. We had several types of work needing to be done. We had a consultation on future work for about 15 minutes and all seemed to go well (for which we were charged $100). Dr. Bloch stated, "For me, I am not like the fancy dentists in San Diego as I care about my patients and not billing them high prices for unneeded procedures." This sounded good to us, so we agreed to start using Dr. Bloch as a dentist. As our dental plans did not go into effect until May 1, we had to reschedule our appointment. The day before our rescheduled appointment for our work, the doctor's office assistant called and stated, "We are cancelling your appointment for tomorrow as Dr. Bloch does not want you as new patients." Apparently, because our insurance was not in effect until May 1 this caused a problem but we are ten days after May 1. And for Dr. Bloch to tell us that all is about patient care when in reality all is about money. He is another one of these "money obsessed" dentists who could care less about patient care and only about services and charges. I agree they are a business but one that lacks empathy for patients. And his office assistant, is rude and uncaring and has no empathy for dental patients. I would avoid this dentist at all costs. There are thousands of dentists in San Diego and this one is one to avoid. Even if you talk to the office about your procedures, you are going to be charged for the dentist's time (bills like an attorney by the minute). Find a dentist that cares about patients but Dr. Bloch does not for sure!!!!!! read more

Having been a patient of Dr Bloch's for several years, I can say he is a very honest and ethical practitioner. He is more committed to patient care than to the almighty dollar. His staff is helpful and knowledgeable about their business. They use the latest technology but do not neglect the bedside manner that is lacking so much these days. Every cleaning I've had with them is done well. Every question I've had about their procedures has been explained to my satisfaction. On a side note, Dr Bloch is the only dentist I've ever heard of that will take emergency calls personally. If you have a problem off hours or on the weekend, he will likely take care of you himself. Dr. Bloch is a conservative dentist with indisputable integrity. He will not do unnecessary work, but is very flexible and prone to personalize treatment depending on the patient's history and x-rays / cavity progression. He has the steadiest hands with many years of experience. Two cavities that I had were filled briskly (but with much care) and painlessly. There was not even the usual pain and sensitivity after the anesthetics wore off. I strongly recommend Dr. Bloch and his team as your dental health provider. Dr. Bloch is by far the number one best dentist I have ever been to! I was having a problem with my back wisdom tooth and food getting caught in between the molar and the wisdom tooth. I went to two other dentist before coming to Dr. Bloch. One told me that I had an infection and the tooth needed to be pulled and the other one told me that I had to get all four of my wisdom teeth pulled because I had gingivitis. Neither of those diagnoses were correct! When Dr. Bloch saw me for the first time he simply said all we have to do is put a filling in between them and that will prevent the food from going in between my teeth and making my gums sore. At that time I was 60 years old with receding gum lines which is normal and Dr. block fixed my problem with ease and turned out to be a very small problem and not a major problem! Also, with my insurance co-pay $10 it only ended up costing me $30 out-of-pocket when the other dentists wanted thousands of dollars!! They were simply taking advantage of me which is easy at my age but thank God for Dr. Bloch! If you do your homework you will find that he is by far the least expensive dentist in San Diego. Every time I meet someone that needs a good dentist I give them a great dentist Dr. Jeffrey Bloch He is not only kind professional understanding .... Been going to Dr. Bloch for several years now after a bad experience at another dentist that cost me a root canal because they were all out at a conference when a temp crown was botched. Dr. Bloch, on the other hand, gave me his cell number to contact him with any dental issues after hours. He reinforced that when I waited to Monday to tell him about a tooth ache and told me I should have called him on the weekend eventhough it turned out to be nothing. I like information and he explains everything with no concern for the time it takes. He did an implant for my teenage daughter which was flawlessly executed. I am extremely paranoid of the dentist, and I searched long and hard for a dentist that is first, HONEST, second, CARING, and third, PERSONABLE. This dentist office has all three and more. The ladies in the office are amazing, and so caring and the dentists are awesome! I fear the dentist like the plague and I can honestly say that I do not mind going here for any procedure. I feel no pain, they are so funny and have such amazing bed-side manners that its almost unbelievable. My daughter is worse than me, and she is so ok with going to the dentist now. I cant put it in words how important it is to feel comfortable with your dentist. I have been scared for my life at other places, but this place is so clean, and so comfortable its so worth coming here.
