This place has always taken good care of my dog. I have been bringing her here for the entire 6 years that I've had her. She has had surgery here and i also have brought her here for boarding on a regular basis. Both vets are very personable and seem to show genuine concern. the facility is very well maintained. Service is usually prompt and professional. Even when I have lived in other areas, I still brought my dog back here.

There is a really beautiful garden outside of the office. Take time to stop and smell the flowers!

My go-to veterinary office. I like the concierge who greets you out front and the staff are all very knowledgeable. Facilities are clean and up-to-date. I feel good about bringing my animals here.

My babies getting ready to see the vet.

Very nice staff! Great vets! Once one of my girls got an allergy reaction at 1130 and they were closing at noon I think, they made sure to still make time to see her and help her out! My babies love spending time there! I even board them there when I Have to. I'd highly recommend them!

An x-ray of my guinea pig, Reese. The dark spots are gas. Case of the farts.

Apparently they've lost some of my dog's records and claim to have only seen him 2-3x in two years but this is not accurate at all!

Best bet in town!! No appointments but if you show up first thing in the morning (they open at 9)…read moreand get on the list you will be seen that day. I was told 1.5-2 hour wait and I could go home and they would call. They called me back within 1.5 hours and I walked out the door within 30 minutes. Doctor did thorough exam, all cat vaccines including 3 yr rabies and medication for $200! Will be back with my kittens.

I have been bringing my dog to this Hurley veterinary clinic since 2015, and unfortunately, I have…read moreseen a significant decline in the quality of care since the pandemic.Last year, my dog was diagnosed with heart failure. At the time, I was told that there was nothing more that could be done beyond managing his condition with long-term medication. I later discovered that the clinic's medication prices were substantially higher than what I could obtain through Chewy, so I began filling his prescriptions there instead. The clinic approved several prescription refills, but then informed me that they would no longer authorize refills without additional blood work. I recently paid approximately $200 for an office visit, during which the veterinarian stated that my dog was retaining fluid. Despite this, my dog's Lasix dosage was reduced. This was confusing to me, especially given the seriousness of his condition. I have also experienced concerns regarding pricing. For example, I was charged $35 for a body spray that can be purchased online for $19.99. When I asked about returning it, I was told there was a strict no-return policy, although I did not see that policy clearly stated on my receipt. Beyond the financial concerns, I feel that customer service has deteriorated. I found my interactions with management to be rude, dismissive, and overly focused on generating revenue rather than prioritizing patient care and client concerns. After being a client for many years, I am deeply disappointed by my recent experiences and no longer feel confident recommending this clinic. I've also noticed that since 2019 there do not appear to be any African American employees working at this facility, whereas before 2019 there were several. I'm not claiming to know the reasons for this change, but I do believe consumers have the right to consider a company's hiring practices and workforce representation when deciding where to spend their money. I had been looking at the available kittens in the humane society's website for a week or 2 before I came and I noticed that it was best to go in early in the day. Prior to coming to this location, I went to the satellite location at Petco by Lakeside mall. As I had put my previous cat to sleep in early March and she had been a girl, I was there for boy kittens. The only kittens at that location were girl however the staff working the cat area were really helpful. I was informed that there were 2 boy kittens that would be available starting in an hour at the Detroit location. The staff told me to call the number on the sign immediately when I arrived in order to get in line. I was about 15 minutes early and when I called, they answered right away and put me in line. I was the 2nd person in for adoptions but the 1st person going for cats/kittens. The staff member that helped me with the adoption was so nice and helpful. She answered all of my questions and within about 30 minutes from when I walked in, I walked out with my new kitten Aiden. I recommend the humane society for adoption of cats and kittens.

I think their whole operation is a scam. I adopted a puppy there a few months ago. They contacted…read moreme twice to see how things were going. It was too soon to tell with the first email they sent. They were to contact me with some issues I was having but I never heard from them. so at the exact 60 day mark (they give you 60 days to decide if you want to keep the dog) I got another email to see, once again, how it was going. Told them about my issues and they said I would get a call....once again, never called me. So now it's past the 60 days for a surrender and a refund. AND TRYING TO REACH THEM IS A BIG FAT JOKE!! 1 stinking number that is never answered...a receptionist at the,Detroit office even told me it would be a waste of time trying to call. And if you want to surrender the dog you need to make an appointment and there would be a $60 fee. On top of the $25 I paid to decide if I wanted the dog to begin with. They would have him on "hold" till I came back the next day....and it better be within 24 hours or you lose everything! All this for a Detroit alley dog. AND why do they guess the info about the dog? They gave me a birthdate (dog must have told them) and they said it would be a lap dog. Well it's at 40 pounds as of today.... you need a pretty big lap to hold that dog. We never had issues with mhs throughout the years and those were the best dogs we ever owned! Things sure have changed. I am sooooo disappointed in the whole process and the dog. Will never adopt from them again.

Absolutely love this office, and Dr Carter has been amazing with all my animals. I followed her…read morewhen she left her previous place, and the low key chill personalized vibe is a breath of fresh air compared to insanely packed vet offices. I never feel rushed, and I appreciate places that keep their client list manageable to offer great focused care. From sitting and talking me through whether it was my Boston's end, helping save the life of my Boxer from parvo then working with him as he became fear aggressive, to squeezing me in late in the day on a Friday for necessary treatment for my baby Pug, Dr Carter really is exactly the doctor I want for my babies. I trust her completely. I was surprised to see some comments from people that seem a bit ridiculous based on unrealistic expectations (Amazon delivering same day has turned us into a bunch of lunatics) and represent an unfortunate shift toward lashing out in reviews. If you don't know that the amount of pets has grown exponentially since the pandemic but the amount of vets hasn't, you should and know what that brings about. I've waited 4-6 hrs at emergency vets, when I haven't been actually just turned away. This is the state of the world currently. I hope Dr Carter and team keep their business small and focused. They might not be able to help everyone as a client and yeah I might need to find an alternative at night or on the weekends. I might need to wait a few minutes to hear back. But I appreciate the need to maintain the right work schedule to keep your sanity. Just like with a family doctor, I'd rather not have a vet who is stressed AF trying to do too much for literally everyone. I also expect to pay more for this kind of service (although honestly I'm not sure I actually do but I'd expect to), because it's not a behemoth like Chewy or vet offices with 13 doctors. (Also I love Chewy, such a great company!) Thanks Dr Carter for being exactly what my Jacks (and others) has needed. Love the new spot and love the vibe.

Our dog has a lot of anxiety and we asked repeatedly for a calm protocol for our dog. Rather than…read morereferring us to a more capable vet, Dr. Carter prescribed one dose of Trazedone which was never sufficient for my dog. We would give him the meds as prescribed and muzzle him for our visits. The visits were so traumatic both for us and our dog. We are not animal experts so we rely on our vet to tell us what our pets need. Dr. Carter never once, in the 5 years we came to her for care, looked in my dogs ears, looked at his eyes, listened to his heart, or touched him at all even with the muzzle on. When we came to our new vet, to our surprise our dog was behind on every vaccine we were under the impression had been taken care of. Our first visit, they were able to check him out, and prescribe a calm protocol for visits. We just had a successful visit where our dog finally got his ears, eyes, heartbeat, and more checked out for the first time in 4-5 years. We were also able to get him his much needed heartworm test, which Dr. Carter refused to perform on my dog, even though she prescribed him heartworm medication. The vet gave us a schedule of when to come back, which Dr. Carter never mentioned or provided. Dr. Carter is not a competent vet. She does not have the skill to handle dogs with anxiety. She would stand in the corner of the room for our visits. She never even got close to him. She never communicated certain vaccines needed boosters, or a timeline to bring him back. Now that I know there are other, better ways to handle dogs with understandable vet anxiety, I feel the need to warn others. If you have very easy pets, perhaps Dr. Carter can provide you the minimum care to keep them safe, but in my experience there are safter, more competent options for vets that cost around the same amount in the area. I wouldnt recommend Dr. Carter to any animal owner.

I am writing this review with a heavy heart, as my recent visit to with my injured puppy, Nigel,…read morewas one of the most traumatic experiences I have ever had at a veterinary office. We arrived in a state of emergency--Nigel was bleeding profusely, and both of us were covered in blood. Unfortunately, the initial experience at the front desk was deeply distressing. I was met with coldness and a focus on payment processing that felt completely disconnected from the urgent, life-threatening situation unfolding before them. In a moment of panic and trauma, that lack of empathy was incredibly painful. However, I feel it is vital to acknowledge the medical team that stepped in. Once we moved past the front desk, the level of care shifted entirely. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the veterinary assistants and to Dr. Wheet. Your genuine empathy, professional support, and kindness during such a horrific process were my only source of comfort. Dr. Wheet and the medical staff are the sole reason I am giving this clinic four stars. They provided the high-quality, compassionate care that Nigel--and any pet owner in crisis--deserves. I truly hope the administrative team takes this feedback to heart, because the front-of-house experience does not currently reflect the high standard of care provided by your doctors and assistants.

I tried to tell them every single time he was all cut up when I adopted him.He was 5 years old , i've had him for 4 yrs. Every time I take him in\n He's very uncomfortable.\n And I'm very disappointed when I tell them constantly, I need to Sedate him the night before and he needs to be sedated while he's in there.\n It never happens, say blow it off. Well, this last visit did it for me. Anyway, I've never in my life. Experienced a veterinarian, the male veterinarian there. Looking at my dog and he got so vicious, trying to cover his eyes with a towel and then holding him down somehow in the back. I don't know what they did, but he never climbed in the bottom of my closet and he hid there for 2 days after the appointment, at least I finally got him back to a somewhat normal state, he's still sick but now I gotta go on a major hunt to try to find A veterinarian that can understand the needs of my dog.My dog was in severe duress , and he saw that and allowed it. Very, very unhappy, especially when I got the bill, every bill, I get is almost a $1000 for my dog to get tortured when they could do something about it, put him under for a little while, get everything done. Even that guy said, trimina's nails. It looks like he was gonna have a heart attack. That's what he told my husband. Just disgusting behaviorObviously do no harm does not apply to veterinarians. But from my wayne's sake , I will find a veterinarian understanding his needs and to make the visit extremely comfortable for him. You may have an amazing experience, and God bless you. If you do but don't ever go in there with a dog with special needs for 4 years, I kept hoping it would stop and they would understand. I also did my own research , talked to veterinarians , and they said what they did was extremely unnecessary in the pricing was unnecessary. Just like my son , my job is to find the best care for my animal. I really hope you got better luck than I do.Whoever may be reading this.
