College Park Towers Condominiums - Front of College Park Towers

    College Park Towers Condominiums

Can't beat the location and convenience ... Building management is on site and very responsive …read more.. each apt is owned by different owners, so each unit can vary in decor, condition, furnishing, and rent $/mo ... It is an older building compared to the surrounding new buildings like TROW, The Standard and Union, but overall, it is fine for me and saves me a loads of $.

The one perk of College Park Towers is the price. There are very few places in CP where you can…read morefind rent for $650. That being said... you get what you pay for. Don't be fooled by the recently remodeled entrances. Most of these apartments are filthy and in desperate need of renovation. About once every few weeks, we would get notices to clear our kitchens to make room for the roach exterminators to spray. There is also a rodent problem. Lovely. Terry, the secretary who runs the front office in Hartwick, is incredibly rude and clearly has no greater pleasure in life than imposing ridiculous fees on students. They charge $75 cash to move in, $10 cash to use your spare key (it increases each lock out), and $600 for their "limited" parking (although the lot is never completely full.. ever). In addition to her miserable job, she has the most unsympathetic attitude and should be avoided at all costs. Because each unit has a different landlord, there is a wide range of conditions in each apartment. However, the average unit will have outdated appliances, matted carpets, and a general air of despair. Your neighbors will be loud frat boys who weren't cool enough to get a bed in their satellite houses. Expect an aroma of weed and trash. For anyone avoiding rising rent costs, I recommend living ANYWHERE but CP Towers. There are smaller apartment buildings on Yale and Dickinson for the same price point without the crooked management.

I LOVE living at the Silverton!…read more The Silverton is a mid-sized condo building that was built during the revitalization of Downtown Silver Spring in 2006. The building was built at the site of the old Canada Dry bottling plant, which is visible with the retained facade and sign of the factory. It is conveniently located two blocks from the metro and is walking distance to all of the amenities of Downtown Silver Spring. The building itself is extremely well managed, with onsite property managers that are very attentive to residents needs and the housekeeping staff do a great job keeping the building clean. Building amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, social room, "multi age/kids playroom", a large outdoor plaza with seating, and a large fully fenced dog run! It is definitely a pet friendly building and one of the few in the DC area with its own dog run. The units themselves are spacious with ample storage and range in size from approximately 800 square feet for a 1 bedroom to 1,300 square feet for a 2 bedroom + den. There are even a few one and two bedroom loft units. The finishes in the units are modern, most have granite in the kitchens and bathrooms and stainless steel appliances. Most units come with garage parking (some have 2 spaces) and the garage is conveniently located in the back of the building with access on each floor.

Great things.. 1.Custodial and maintenance staff absolutely wonderful 2.Location perfect 3.Residents, most are really great people 4.Parking, most units have assigned parking 5.Deliveries, right to your front door 6.Unit, great size Concerns... 1.$200 annual pet fee for dogs 2.$200 move in & move out fee 3.An additional $500 deposit move in/out that may or may not be refunded. 4.Quiet Hours 10pm to 9am 5.Structure of building - Frame, which means you hear everything 6.Board - nice people but limited power 7.Units for sale - look at the front gate at any given time there are quite a few units for sale. 8.For the price point there are so many other choices in the area. 9.Move in/out hours - 10am to 4pm only Mon-Fri. If you go outside of this time you are charged $150. My husband and I lived in one of these condo's for more than a year and were told that we could not make any noise after 10pm or before 9am. Which meant no using our kitchen and limited moving/walking during those hours. In fact, we could not take pots out of the cabinets to cook breakfast until after 9am because it was disruptive. Another issue were the complaints from the owners about the ineffective management and excessive capital expenditures for maintenance and building repairs. During our stay some pipes burst and caused a lot of water damage to a few units. Many of the units have the hot water heaters outside with a heater to keep the pipes from freezing. Not to mention my landlord was not always prompt with paying the condo fee's so the association would require me to pay the rent directly to the association. During these instances the association would not provide a status update and would therefore keep more rent than required to bring the account current, this happened two times. The landlord also kept our deposit for the full 45 days after move out even though we completed a walk through right after we moved out of the unit. We were so very fortunate because we were able to escape the madness. I guess, if you are on the top floor you might be ok.

Had everyone things outside. I was making deals with leasing office doing a month to month because I did not want to renew they just kicked me out Mind you for months they did not have anyone in the leasing office to even help after David the old leasing office guy got fired back in February he was really nice helped me get my place I very much appreciate him but overall all experience paying that much with no balcony or washer dryer or dish washer and dirty carpet was ridiculous and paying for parking can't even get a space when I come home from work because of the school. I as well was stalked by the guy in the front building while walking my dogs multiple times had to call the police on him he did it to another girl there as well he stays in the front building just watching girls was warned by other guys around there and my door was kicked in, after first month of living there. oh don't let me forget there RATS! & ROACHES! my place very clean I cleaned everyday the bugs are terrible there I never ever lived in something like that i WOULDN'T RECOMMEND ANYONE TO MOVE HERE! This place gave me so much anxiety and how they handle me as I'm pregnant as well had to go check into the hospital same day! Don't waste your time or money here

Each time she responds right away and with grace and never rude despite I had so many questions. My daughter lived here for one school year already and we feel Domain is clean, quiet, and safe. Lindsay is very professional and responsive. We appreciate working with someone who is present to address any concerns immediately. So overall this is why we now recommended someone else to apply for the coming school year and our other daughter is planning to live at Domain for the senior year. Thanks Domain for Lindsay.

We provided time-stamped pictures as well to show the issue. The stovetop was never fixed and Domain has charged us now ($225) for the repair. As frustrating as this scenario is, there has been NO response from Domain despite repeated phone calls and emails. Domain is a nice place but they have treated us with ZERO respect on this issue after dutifully paying them $2000 a month for almost 3 years. I would NOT recommend Domain to anyone who needs a place in College Park as their unwillingness to respond to a simple issue shows a fundamental lack of respect to a paying customer.

As a prospective renter, my experience was very poor. The man who showed me the apartment I was…read moreinterested in was very nice, but didn't know much about the property or me (he was waiting in a different unit than the one I wanted to see because he got mixed up). That would have been fine. But what really annoyed me was the application process. The management is not familiar with more modern ways to verify employment and income (such as third party service) and insisted on unredacted pay stubs - which is much less secure. The interaction as we went back and forth was rude and reminded me of scammers trying to get one to divulge information urgently (because so many people are interested in the apartment!) at the cost of better judgement. In trying to get more information from me they cited their "policies" but being unable to articulate why their policy insists on having the information I didn't want to share (like my pre-tax deductions) This conversation was not with some mid-level employee but what seemed to be the owner. I should hope he could articulate the reasoning behind his own policy! To me, this company clearly orients themselves to customer service of property owners, not renters. Which fair enough, but it doesn't mean I have to like it. To the reader/renter: Don't let these people bully you!

Prompt responses to emails, quick answers to phone calls, transparent updates throughout the process, and even reassurances to call you back if they are tied up at the moment (and they actually call back as soon as they can!) Since my roommates and I are all out of town at the moment, and unable to tour the property in person prior to signing the lease agreement, Hanna assured me that her assistant Johnny would send me a video tour the following day. And sure enough, the next day - Johnny had a detailed video tour of the home in my inbox. Any question I had about the property, Johnny was able to answer. We so look forward to working with Hanna and her team during the duration of our lease agreement. If the last week is any indication of how our experiences will be as Rent the District tenants, I very much look forward to staying at this property. Hanna and Johnny were both very friendly, and professional. I will recommend Rent the District to any of my friends who look to rent or have property management services in DC. Thank you again!
