We were able to have our specialist for speech come in and that was very accommodating and didn't take away from her growth and learning. I see some bad reviews but it's something you should go in and experience yourself as I had no bad experience with this school.

I could detail…read morehow terrible this was for us in length, but for any parents looking for a new school here are the highlights: Please only consider KinderHaus if your child is able to self soothe at 1 (which is likely not the case), has a complete control of their emotions at 1 and is able to articulate all of their needs again as a toddler. I would HIGHLY recommend against sending your child here if they experience even the slightest developmental delay because will be dismissed, due to not meeting the director's standards. We were at the school for 10 months and had seen three children dismissed that did not meet this absolutely outrageous requirements of toddlers. If your child requires additional love or care during nap time, this is not the place. Their policy is to call the parents to pick the child up for the day if they cannot sleep during nap. The director informed us she had told the teachers not to lay near or console my child during nap time as he is requiring "too much attention". The teachers are kind, but there is a strong disconnection between teachers and administration. As first time parents we entrusted the school with our baby and were greatly let down by administration. We had been working with the teachers on all fronts for son, who has delayed speech, but the acting director had not engaged in any of this until the day she abruptly released my son from school. We had been called to school because our son was not able to nap (which later found out is not a normal policy). When I arrive the director bombarded me and told me our son was being dismissed from school indefinitely and immediately without any advanced warning. As working parents this quite disruptive our family but more than anything our son had to have an intense change in his routine with no chance for adjustment. There was an apparent disconnection between administration and teachers after a change in administration because even the teacher were surprised by this extreme action. I will be the first to say my family is not perfect, but we are all doing our best. We had thought we had chosen a school that conducts itself with patience and respect, but the actions of its Director/Owner Pat made it very clear we were incorrect. With my son's delayed speech, we had been working with early steps to begin his therapies. We had been giving the teachers constant updates, but his development was not meeting the director's standards. She had told me his dismissal was due to his interruptions in class and outbursts. He had two biting incidents in the 10 months we were there and had been hands on, but we were told by teachers this was normal while his speech was progressing. We received no notes of Pat interacting with my son, and the first day she approached me regarding him was the day she kicked us out of school. She also immediately shared my child's confidential disciplinary actions with another parent, which is in direct violation of state licensing guidelines. I hope this review can help another parent make a decision that is right for your family. In camp and the school my child is now attending since this incident, it has been night and day with the patience and respect we are receiving from not only the teachers but the administration as well. My son attending this school from 12-22 months.

This school is amazing!! So happy that we found it and got in! Our family relocated to River Ridge…read morefrom out of state. Our son doesn't have any siblings so it was important for us to get him into school to interact with others kiddos his age. He loves school so much that he is always the last to leave and occasionally cries as he wants to stay longer. I was really worried about him integrating into a preschool as he's always on the move, I was amazed to see him sit at the table to eat or stay seated at story time. But my son isn't perfect, he gets restless and sometimes wants to get out of a group activity, so his teachers redirect him to complete an activity on his own such as reading a book, taking a break to lie down on a pillow, or giving him sensory toy to play with, etc. It's just so awesome that my son is getting great care with the development he needs. Meanwhile, they use Procare communication app which allows you to connect with the school directors and teachers. Teachers send pics, updates of how my son is doing throughout the day. They have plenty of activities so it's so cute to see pics of him doing art, making crafts, or having in-school field trips, workshops, etc. Finally, I love that my son is well fed. They have catered breakfast and lunches brought in every day from a local restaurant called "Boucherie". This is at any additional cost at $5.25 a day, but well worth it as he is getting a variety of foods and we don't have to stress out about preparing meals and snacks. I love that it's all healthy and homemade, not that processed food drama. I love Excel Early Learning Center. Thank you so much for providing such a loving environment for our son, and the tools he needs to let him explore, discover, and learn. You're simply the best!!

JCC Aqua Fit program has been declining for months. Suggestions by members to increase classes,…read moreupgrade equipment and replace instructors are ignored. Since the hiring of a new CEO a couple of months ago, several aqua fit classes have been canceled so the pool can be used for swim lessons for the child care center and summer camps. This has especially impacted the seniors who joined the JCC specifically for the low impact benefits of water aerobics. Since summer camps, swim lessons and pool parties generate significant income, It seems that the financial bottom line is more important than addressing membership in the "community center." Too bad, the aqua fit program affects at least 50 members who are the active adults who use the facility daily. Do not join for the aqua program right now. Hopefully we will be heard in the future and classes will be restored.

Re: COVID-19 operations and safety practices…read more I gotta slow clap for y'all because I am loving the new implementation of the appointments online and how serious the JCC is taking COVID-19. Members of JCC Uptown are able to book appointments up to three days in advance for one hour block sessions. Everyone has to wear a mask upon entry and get your temperature checked. Per their constant email communications all members must arrive ready to workout (lockers are only available for bathrooms so no showers or storage purposes) and bring in your own towel and water bottle. They allow no more than 7 people at a time in the cardio room and around 8/9 in the weights room. Within the cardio room every other machine is shut down to practice social distancing. You'll also find plenty of marked disinfected and used cleaning sprays so you can wipe your machine before and after. Their team also cleans the machines CONSTANTLY. Like I seriously would get off the cardio machine wipe it down, just to then see them wipe it down again themselves. I feel safe coming here and appreciate there isn't a crazy occupancy capacity happening right now. TAKE MY MONIES. *Just know you will have to sign a waiver the first time you initially go during COVID-19, because liability and lawsuits ya know...

They teach the kids songs, science, social skills, arts and crafts, counting, alphabet, potty training, communication, gardening, etc. Child development students from the University also help put on a Mardi Gras party and a Halloween party each year. This is a Tulane University daycare but there are spots available to the community. Get on the waitlist early, like in pregnancy if possible! Newcomb has been open since 1926 and their commitment to your kids has quite a history. It's a "Class A" daycare. Parents are very hand's on. Teachers are sweet and caring. Ms. Deidre rode with my son to Children's Hospital in an ambulance when he had a febrile seizure at school. I rushed to the ER to find them being rolled in, Deidre sitting on the gurney holding my poor sick baby. Will never forget that act of kindness! It really is a second family/home for your kid. Buggy rides, water play, Ms. Karen's cooking....! The list goes on and on! Highly recommend!

Newcomb Children's Center is not even in the category of bad. I am so happy my daughter got a chance for a spot at NCC when she turned 2 years old and had issues at another place we went to before NCC. People who work here are selfless and hard working people keeping this place running and doing so with so much love and professionalism. Since day one they made my baby and (what is very important) me feel secure and safe. They have activities scheduled for kids for every hour of the day. They learn so much while they play! Ms. Debbie is amazing as well as ms. Julie and all other teachers and staff. Ms. Debbie knows all the kids by name, very attentive to each and every person who step into the building. My baby's development went up as soon as she started going to NcC. She loves going there and doesn't want to leave...if you would know the situation we were with our old daycare you would understand how big of a difference it makes. I can go work without feeling scared for her well being or guilty for leaving at place she doesn't like. My daughter adores her new school and we couldn't be happier she is there. I wish she could stay there until she is 7 yo! They always clean the spaces, beds, sheets and toys, especially when there has been virus going around. Communication between teachers, staff and parents are excellent as well. Lots of projects and events during school year. I wish to find similar place when we have to leave NCC.

Unfortunately they only had a spot in the "young 4 year olds", but they promised to make adjustments to accommodate him ( he turned 5 in March ). Summer is approaching, and with both of us being hard-working parents we need full day care. We signed him up for the LRSH summer program and paid our fees, but yesterday they sent us back our cheque stating that they could not deal with our son any longer. No warnings or discussion with us - they simply dropped us out. Now we have to find an alternative for the summer. Long story short: LRSH is ok if you desperately need a place to put your child. However, they are not equipped to teach children or deal with issues that a real school would have certified teachers for. This is a glorified nursing home, and there is no excuse for the way in which they expelled our son without any form of due process
