I was invited by a close friend to attend a Christmas concert. Her daughter plays the cello. I was mesmerized by the talent of all those children and the dedication of all the music teachers involved. I felt moved by the passion and professionalism of all the participants. I love classical music and I regularly attend to concerts and plays. I sincerely felt like I was in front of professional musicians. The band , the choir , the orchestra and jazz band were all so amazing! I could definitely see those children playing in the future at venues like Disney hall , zipper concert Hall and the Hollywood bowl. They all behaved like pros and gave their best. My only observation is : the parents need to be educated on how to behave during the performance. They whistled so loud and one had her phone on right behind me. I think a memo or an email to the parents should go out before each performance reminding the parents what the protocol is during a concert. Is not an sport event where you scream and whistle. They really ruin it and set a bad example. It was well attended by parents and that is wonderful. More civility is needed. read more

Both of my sons went here about 10 years ago. I was so blessed that they had good teachers who provided a safe, caring, and positive middle school experience. Ms. Minwary was the best orchestra teacher who let them lunch with non-orchestra friends in her room. I believe many of the teachers go above what is required. Not all, but many love what they do and it shows. read more

These teachers are very unprofessional, my daughter Gloria went here for a week and got in trouble for telling people to be quiet! She was picked on here by bullies and the teachers did nothing. dont send your child here!! The learning service here is terrible! A parent of a 6 grader here going into 7th grade and overall the year has been great my child was doing amazingly well compared to back in elementary school this school offers so much electives like Dance, Orchestra, Band, Chorus, College Prep, ASB, etc. although fights do breakout and bullying does occur especially with the higher grades through social media it's life and it's hard. read more

My son went to this school and 2 weeks ago but I had took him out of this school and the district. This school in particular is one of the worst schools in the district and one of the worst schools my son has ever gone to there staff in the front office is rude. You ask them a question they always answer with attitude and there just rude. My son had gotten in trouble a like I'd say two times well he was at this school and when they call you to let you know they give no detail they just say to come down to school and expect me to be okay and not be worried or anything when they didn't give any details and the restrooms are always dirty even after school hours and some of the teachers judge kids for the way they look or dress as they judge my kid. read more

The staff here at the school is quite rude! I have had a similar experience with other 1 star reviews, and when a question was asked they responded with an attitude! And when my child got in trouble, the front office didn't explain anything through the phone and just said to get my child! They don't tell me what I should prepare for or what they did! I will say that all the teachers here are very mean and don't let students use the restroom. I had a math teacher that never ever graded my work and her name was Ms shi and she assigned a lot of work that she never graded and in that class I never had an +A she never was never good at explaining and made things complicated and stressful but there was this after school program that helps you do your homework and there are college students which are tutors to help you do your work a lot of the college students are very nice and generous and helpful but there was this one tutor that was always mean and disrespectful to me and some of my classmates her name was Liliana she would never help me do my work and would never ask me if I needed help she would always give me dirty looks so then I never went back to the after program because of her and my parents had to pay to get me a personal tutor. read more

It all depends whos your teacher. In my first year, I has mrs. potter for 3 classes, science math and history, she just makes you read durring class, do a project per quarter and hands out homework. Very bad at explaining math. note she teaches 7 and 8 graders. my L.A. teacher retired so ill skip her. 7th grade. Best teachers ever. if you are an advanced math person (taking the math class you are suppose to the next year) ur going to enjoy Mrs. Edwards the algebra teacher. or you will have her in 8th grade(hopefully). her class is filled with games ranging from a giant chess set to many decks of cards. Homework is issued daily but can be turned in at anytime before the quarter ends (good for procrastnators). Very funny and fun teacher with a great teaching style. this is also a good class for doing other classes work as on quiz days, you are free to do whatever you like afterwards. Science. I had gotten the best science teacher, Mr humbert. great stories and interesting way of mixing education into them. Issues lots of homework daily but very easy to finish such as copying vocabulary from the book or reading a section. Tests require no studying as they are all multiple choice and he had told us they are the same every year. Very chill teacher, also "teaches" physical education. Note, hes a big fan of the Steelers and ownes Steelers everything from playing cards to basket ball hoop in which you can throw trash into. Looks intimidating at first. I had honors history who was taught by Mrs harrington. She has a great scotish accent and dont ever ask if its an english accent. Good at teaching, kind of avarage, but strict when grading essays and projects. In her class you are required to wright a 3 paragraphed blog post every two weeks and a full paged journal entry every day. Get a wide rulled comosition book, youll thank me. history teacher i had was Mr Mitchel, not the most exciting class but i enjoyed it because he played favorites and got quite a big bonus. also teaches current news. 8th grade. if you dont have Mrs. tom, ur going to get either Mrs sotnik or McMahon (pronounced mc man) and after winter break, you switch these teachers. Sotnik teaches chemisty and is really boring while mcmahon teaches physics and is strict with school ruls such as chewing gum, using phones or doing other schoolwork in her class. Both are easy classes to sleep in if you sit in the back and both are quite boring. My math teacher for geometry was Mr Tang I (there are 2 Tang teachers on school who both teach geometry and algebra Tang J and Tang i) quite boring, but funny asian accent and occasionaly jokes or sillyness. (a guy droped his waterbottle and he was all like "apoligise to the floor!") lots of quizes and remember, homework is more important than quiz. History teacher: Mrs. pope, honors history. a nightmare. dont aply for honors. scary. evil. plays favorites. lots of work. pulled at least 20 all nighters. not for procrastinators. Now onto someone more plesant, Mrs. wolpert, the honor language art teacher. all homework is digital and mosly done in class with her class set of ipads and a few laptops. she is also the speach and debate teacher and very cool, class wont be boring but its really hard to get into honors english. Loves shakespeare. Super hero geek. loves teenage gossip we feed her. Hard to distingish durring class because very short. now onto the electives. Orchestra was my main class, Mrs. minwary was awesome and loved to interact with us. just dont be too loud and talkative when shes trying to teach and listen to her instuctions, youll be fine. very easy class to do work in if you sit tin the back 2 rows, unless base, i used my phone everyday to text while covering it with my violin. there are a few days in which you are allowed a free day if shes really busy with a uocoming concert or trip. (you get to go to disnyland and knotts berry farm) Band is taught by mr B (its some long, hard to pronounce name), seemes chill and young, does not apreciate a talkative or rude aditude. i herd from a friend i dont know anything about choir other than that you also sing modern pop songs along with like latin or something songs. no idea. just seen performance dont ever take a second language. the only ones avaliable were french, chinese and sapnishm due to budget cuts, french and chinese no lonfpger exisdt. the spanish teacher, whats his face, makes you do numberous projects and you better be artistic and creative. art is a throwaway elective for losers and thoes who are dumb and cant get anything else avid is better than art, but requires lots of work and is usualy for kids who have trouble in writing or notetaking and being organized well, im goimg to run out of space but theres still a bunch of subjects i haven mentioned, i hope this helped you and if you have a question or concerns on a spacific teacher or subject, ill be happy to answer them for you. im sorry for my spelling errors. read more
