What should have been a simple mistake turned into a catastrophe of an experience with a lender. I…read moreknow some lenders can be pushy, or rushed, but this guy turned out to be both, with zero space for self-reflection or ownership for his mistakes. He came recommended through my realtor at the time, Cherie Hunt, so I was happy to get the ball rolling and fill out all the necessary information online. This was, in fact, on a Saturday. Upon submission, I called and left him a voicemail -- nobody needs to be working on a Saturday -- because my message was simple: "Please do not process my documents and perform any credit check until you have touched base with me. Thanks!" Come Monday morning, I get an email from Karma Credit and like three other credit companies saying there was a new hard credit inquiry on my account. Hmm.. who could have done this? This was my single request of what he was NOT to do. When I connected with Tim, I was reasonably upset that he was not able to follow simple directions. In the course of an hour of attempting to understand Tim's line of thinking, I did not hear a single apology, or ownership of responsibility. Instead, what I got was "Well you signed the document," "Nobody has ever complained about this before in 30 years," and "this doesn't affect your credit." The man lied through his teeth about his role in this error and tried to turn the conversation around as to how *I* did not understand credit. It was low, insulting, and very unnecessary. To this, I decided that I did not want to work with someone who did not have the respect for his customers to say a simple "I made a mistake, I'm sorry." He does not seem capable of taking responsibility for his mistakes and, apparently, growth. The home purchasing experience is stressful enough to work with someone who has such low emotional intelligence and lack of interest in his customers' well being or needs. No idea how he operates anywhere else down the pipeline because if he can't be reflective at the very first stage, god only knows where he he may screw up and ignore it at your expense.
