Absolutely outstanding experience. I cannot recommend the United States Air Force Armament Museum…read moreat Eglin Air Force Base highly enough. I visited with my two sons, ages 13 and 14, and we all had an incredible time. The museum itself is impressive, well laid out, and packed with history, but what truly made the visit unforgettable was a volunteer named Pappy. He generously spent a long time giving us a guided tour, sharing stories, answering questions, and connecting the exhibits to real-world history in a way that completely captivated my boys. They especially loved seeing the aircraft up close, including the mini planes and, in particular, the F-4 Phantom. That one hit home for our family, as their grandfather flew an F-4 in Vietnam. Seeing that aircraft in person, while hearing knowledgeable and respectful commentary, was genuinely meaningful. This museum does an exceptional job of honoring history while keeping it engaging for younger visitors. If you have children, especially teens, or any interest in aviation or military history, this is a must-see. We left impressed, grateful, and already talking about coming back. Five stars without hesitation.

Inside you can also see what the atom bomb looks like, numerous photos, letters, and all kinds of other memorabilia. It's a very cool place. It's a little outdated, but you don't pay to go inside, so it's kind of expected. I think if you were driving by, and you see it I would have 100% recommend. I wouldn't tell anybody to drive over 30 minutes and go out of their way to see it though. The airplanes and aircraft outside was definitely the coolest part.

First order of business: secure a seat in their giant-screen IMAX theater. That screen is massive one of those experiences where the engines roar, the jets scream across the sky, and you feel like you're strapped into the cockpit yourself. It's the kind of show that makes you sit up a little straighter in your seat and remember why naval aviation has always been the sharp end of the spear. Now the museum itself shipmate, this place is the real deal. Founded back in 1962 by Rear Admiral Magruder H. Tuttle, it started small with just a handful of aircraft. Today it's a full-on aviation hangar of history with more than 150 restored aircraft from the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard spread across huge exhibit bays. My son and I spent hours there, and the best part for him was getting up close with the aircraft climbing into cockpits, checking out helicopters, and seeing the machines that once launched off carrier decks into the wild blue. Top highlights include the historic Curtiss NC-4 (the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic), Blue Angels jets hanging in formation overhead, and flight simulators that let you feel like you're launching off a carrier deck. Bottom line: if you've got even a drop of saltwater in your veins or a love for aviation, this place is squared away. Bring the kids, bring your curiosity, and be prepared to spend a full day walking through the proud history of naval aviation. From one proud American to another this museum is absolutely mission ready.

STUPID to have to pay $45 to get through security with a regulary ID that hasn't been upgraded to a real ID. They don't do any additional screenings to ensure you're a REAL non-threatening person... u just pay $45 and then they look at your regular ID to check your name against your reservation... lol. BUT the airport itself is great! SMALL airport, security is a BREEZE and the TWO little gates are perfect. Allegiant flight was delayed and they put out waters and soft drinks for us so that was a nice gesture from Allegiant. The airport is just so convenient, I will gladly use this one ANY time I can over Columbus, just from the pure convenience aspect of parking and getting to the gate quickly. I will have to drive father and past Columbus to get to this one, and parking is $4/day more expensive, but I will do it every time!!!

It turned out to be one of the best birthday surprises I've ever planned. We visited on a Wednesday, and it was the perfect day to go. The crowds were light, which gave us plenty of time to explore at our own pace. One piece of advice: grab a map and actually use it! My husband was in charge of navigation, and somehow we almost missed a huge section of the ship. The USS Alabama is fascinating from top to bottom. Walking through the sleeping quarters, mess halls, engine rooms, and gun turrets really gives you an appreciation for the people who served aboard her. The grounds also include historic aircraft and military exhibits, so plan to spend more time than you think you'll need. Parking is an additional $5, so keep that in mind when budgeting your visit. If you're eligible for military, senior, or group discounts, be sure to ask about available savings before purchasing tickets. Fun fact: The USS Alabama earned nine battle stars during World War II and is often referred to as "The Lucky A" because she returned from combat without losing a crew member to enemy action. Learning little pieces of history like that made the experience even more meaningful. If you enjoy history, military museums, or simply exploring unique places, this is absolutely worth the trip. Just don't let your spouse be in charge of the map.

The battleship itself is massive and well-preserved, giving you a real sense of what life was like for sailors during World War II. The park also includes other military aircraft and exhibits too! Mom and I went on a tour here back in 2018 during a road trip to New Orleans. This is a history buffs paradise!

The slogan for the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) is "It's in every escape" with a capital E, C, and P. The airport advertises its convenient daily nonstop flights that make it so that planning your next escape is easy. They also like to market that at this airport, you can go from "baggage to the beach in 20 minutes." Unlike friends who absolutely hate flying, I enjoy the travel experience, especially when using some helpful tools like CLEAR, Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check, airport lounge membership, and airline status. The only one of these that this airport uses is TSA Pre-Check. When checking in, I was able to easily check my bag at the Southwest Airlines counter. I then went to the All Gates check-in area and used TSA Pre-Check to skip most of the line at Security while keeping my shoes on (thanks to an American Express Platinum card which comes with credits for both TSA Pre-Check and CLEAR). Being a smaller airport, it was quite easy to navigate the gates and food in the terminal. The baggage claim was also easy to find as there was really only one baggage claim per large airline. The car rental area was more complicated though that may have been due to the rental company itself. One negative though is that there were no airline lounges of any sort. I ended up arriving quite early and visited the only restaurant with hot food (to go). I eventually found open corners of boarding areas with outlets and read a book for a while. On the ECP website, you can take advantage of free resources as a part of their Junior Flyer Zone (https://www.iflybeaches.com/junior-flyer-zone). There is also an "Art Escape" initiative in its concourse which showcases rotating beach-themed and contemporary works from local Bay and Walton County artists. Inaugural exhibits include photography by Mark Little and Chandler Williamson, along with student artwork, aiming to enhance the passenger experience. While I'm not sure when or if I'll be back to this airport or 30A, I did appreciate this airport and would go back again.
