Absolutely outstanding experience. I cannot recommend the United States Air Force Armament Museum…read moreat Eglin Air Force Base highly enough. I visited with my two sons, ages 13 and 14, and we all had an incredible time. The museum itself is impressive, well laid out, and packed with history, but what truly made the visit unforgettable was a volunteer named Pappy. He generously spent a long time giving us a guided tour, sharing stories, answering questions, and connecting the exhibits to real-world history in a way that completely captivated my boys. They especially loved seeing the aircraft up close, including the mini planes and, in particular, the F-4 Phantom. That one hit home for our family, as their grandfather flew an F-4 in Vietnam. Seeing that aircraft in person, while hearing knowledgeable and respectful commentary, was genuinely meaningful. This museum does an exceptional job of honoring history while keeping it engaging for younger visitors. If you have children, especially teens, or any interest in aviation or military history, this is a must-see. We left impressed, grateful, and already talking about coming back. Five stars without hesitation.

Unfortunately the day I visited it was rainy and dreary. The lady at the front patiently went over…read morewhat the museum had to offer. I spent about 1.5 hours and really enjoyed myself. First order of business: secure a seat in their giant-screen IMAX theater. That screen is massive one of those experiences where the engines roar, the jets scream across the sky, and you feel like you're strapped into the cockpit yourself. It's the kind of show that makes you sit up a little straighter in your seat and remember why naval aviation has always been the sharp end of the spear. Now the museum itself shipmate, this place is the real deal. Founded back in 1962 by Rear Admiral Magruder H. Tuttle, it started small with just a handful of aircraft. Today it's a full-on aviation hangar of history with more than 150 restored aircraft from the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard spread across huge exhibit bays. My son and I spent hours there, and the best part for him was getting up close with the aircraft climbing into cockpits, checking out helicopters, and seeing the machines that once launched off carrier decks into the wild blue. Top highlights include the historic Curtiss NC-4 (the first aircraft to cross the Atlantic), Blue Angels jets hanging in formation overhead, and flight simulators that let you feel like you're launching off a carrier deck. Bottom line: if you've got even a drop of saltwater in your veins or a love for aviation, this place is squared away. Bring the kids, bring your curiosity, and be prepared to spend a full day walking through the proud history of naval aviation. From one proud American to another this museum is absolutely mission ready.

There are maybe six airlines that fly in & out of Pensacola daily, with Southwest garnering much of the space. Unlike airports in larger destinations, Pensacola International Airport has an easy pick-up & drop-off area. Whether it's rideshare or a loved one who is picking you up at the airport, they're easy to spot and the traffic is such that there's not a lot of hassle to the pick-up process. That is a nice win compared to other cities. If you are waiting on a departure, then you have limited amenities, but what they do have is nice. The Chick-fil-A and the Pensacola Beach House are probably the most populated, with the latter being comfortable enough to have a drink at the bar or a seat at a table. Restrooms are very clean, people are friendly, and our TSA experiences were seamless. It may be dated, but it functions as well as any other airport. Honestly, do we really need to be treated like kings and queens in an industry that is designed to make us hurry up and wait? PNS is worth the stop and go as you come into the Sunshine State, check it out.

STUPID to have to pay $45 to get through security with a regulary ID that hasn't been upgraded to a real ID. They don't do any additional screenings to ensure you're a REAL non-threatening person... u just pay $45 and then they look at your regular ID to check your name against your reservation... lol. BUT the airport itself is great! SMALL airport, security is a BREEZE and the TWO little gates are perfect. Allegiant flight was delayed and they put out waters and soft drinks for us so that was a nice gesture from Allegiant. The airport is just so convenient, I will gladly use this one ANY time I can over Columbus, just from the pure convenience aspect of parking and getting to the gate quickly. I will have to drive father and past Columbus to get to this one, and parking is $4/day more expensive, but I will do it every time!!!

Parking was only $5. Admission was $15 for veterans and seniors, $18 for adults, $6 for children 6-11 and children up to 5 are free, as are active duty soldiers and dependents. Pictures are taken after you pay for admissions and there are quite a few military backgrounds you can choose from. If you choose to purchase the pictures, they're priced at $33 each or 3 for $66 with a magnetic stand frame for each 6x9 inch picture. There are picture packages of various sizes for purchase. There is a gift shop and the prices were relatively reasonable with an abundance of items to choose from. Adjacent to the gift shop is a restaurant in case you'd like to dine after making a day of the trip. We didn't visit the Drum aka the submarine because I don't like tight spaces lol but the history of the battleship was fascinating and viewing all of the decommissioned vessels/aircrafts really made me even more appreciative of the service of our military personnel. She loomed larger and larger, we stopped and even though it was pouring rain, I stood there and beheld the incredible machine in front of me. Again, as with other ships, I walked the decks in awe and amazement of what happened on the ship over 80 years ago, the men that walked these decks, lived, fought, and died in service to our great country. Their sacrifices not forgotten, but thankfully live on through these museum ships dotted around the USA. Silent sentinels to those who sacrificed so much. They really did a great job with this museum, and they definitely take care of the ship. I wish I and more time, as there are so many other things to visit here- aircraft, a sub, you could easily spend 2 days here! 2 more ships and I will have visited all of them... The slogan for the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport (ECP) is "It's in every escape" with a capital E, C, and P. The airport advertises its convenient daily nonstop flights that make it so that planning your next escape is easy. They also like to market that at this airport, you can go from "baggage to the beach in 20 minutes." Unlike friends who absolutely hate flying, I enjoy the travel experience, especially when using some helpful tools like CLEAR, Global Entry/TSA Pre-Check, airport lounge membership, and airline status. The only one of these that this airport uses is TSA Pre-Check. When checking in, I was able to easily check my bag at the Southwest Airlines counter. I then went to the All Gates check-in area and used TSA Pre-Check to skip most of the line at Security while keeping my shoes on (thanks to an American Express Platinum card which comes with credits for both TSA Pre-Check and CLEAR). Being a smaller airport, it was quite easy to navigate the gates and food in the terminal. The baggage claim was also easy to find as there was really only one baggage claim per large airline. The car rental area was more complicated though that may have been due to the rental company itself. One negative though is that there were no airline lounges of any sort. I ended up arriving quite early and visited the only restaurant with hot food (to go). I eventually found open corners of boarding areas with outlets and read a book for a while. On the ECP website, you can take advantage of free resources as a part of their Junior Flyer Zone (https://www.iflybeaches.com/junior-flyer-zone). There is also an "Art Escape" initiative in its concourse which showcases rotating beach-themed and contemporary works from local Bay and Walton County artists. Inaugural exhibits include photography by Mark Little and Chandler Williamson, along with student artwork, aiming to enhance the passenger experience. While I'm not sure when or if I'll be back to this airport or 30A, I did appreciate this airport and would go back again.
