We searched and spoke to many advocates, and finally found the Weinfeld Education Group. Jennifer, from the team, was wonderful and understanding of our concerns. After introducing her to the IEP team at school we were able to have the differences in his assessment addressed. With adding things such as speech-to-text/text-to-speech, more one on one with educators, and scribing, he was able to perform at grade level, which he was never able to do before. Additionally, he was no longer being penalized for not being able to answer the material he couldn't read. Because of Jennifer and her team's work, my son's demeanor also changed from having to struggle to get him out of his room to go to school to telling us we are running late and that he doesn't need help with his homework. He is still far from being independent, but we no longer have to deal with that emotional pain, thanks to Jennifer.

Our son not only receives quality services from a therapist trained in dealing with young children through adolescents, but ECC's selection of these therapists is incomparable. ECC's therapists are not only up to date in the latest proven methods but are all caring, compassionate individuals who invest in your child. The benefits our son receives through ECC extend far beyond OT services. He's built a relationship with his OT which motivates and inspires him as a person. We chose Mercy for our two young children as they entered PreK 4 and 1st grade because of the…read morestrong academics, Catholic principles, and welcoming community that it has. We moved to the area not knowing anyone and without family nearby, which was very challenging. We quickly this learned area has many good options, but after touring Mercy twice, once with the principal and once with the admissions counselor, it was a very easy choice to make. Mercy is the only three-time blue ribbon school in Maryland, and they pride themselves on education which is completely transparent. The teachers all have professional degrees in education and work very closely with their students. We were excited to learn the young grades have small groups for reading and math, (and as the daughter of a teacher) the levels of work they do has been impressive. We were greeted with friendly parents and our kids made new best friends very easily. One of our favorite things about the school is the enrichment programs they offer which have included Spanish, art club, Wondermakers, and chess. The art and music teachers are incredibly incredibly talented and would encourage anyone thinking of this school to meet them and learn about their projects. The principal, church, and school leadership are professional, welcoming, and open to new ideas that will encourage the best school community possible, including the current playground and school construction. The community has been wonderful to be a part of, and we've been grateful for such support and kindness. Recently, a group of fathers and some staff play soccer on Fridays, and there are fun events throughout the year which fosters the school community. As any school, it's the most of what you make of it, and we've found there are lots of opportunities here which make it a very special place.

My son has been a client at ABC Kids for almost two years now and we cannot praise them enough. My…read moreson was practically nonverbal and Marni has patiently & diligently worked with him, and he's developed by leaps and bounds. Marni was one of the few PROMPT trained therapists in the area and the back office at ABC kids has always been efficient and professional (they do all the insurance paperwork and bill you for the deductible, they have even been helpful in keeping me up to date on how many more sessions were left in the year per our insurance allotment). We have seen other therapists at the practice in the past, and all are skilled and great with kids. When COVID hit, they didn't skip a beat and we switched to virtual. Marni went above and beyond finding new games to play virtually with our young son to keep him engaged (she went so far as to put up a green screen in her own home!). Once things calmed a bit (a full year later), we started back in person and they have been excellent at Covid protocols (therapists are vaccinated and wear masks and/or shields, they stagger appointments so we don't cross paths with others, temperature checks, and hand sanitizer galore- I noticed the other day Marni sanitized her hands before and after touching my son's face to help him form a sound). We cannot recommend ABC Kids enough! They have been instrumental in the development of our sweet boy.
