I got in touch with the individual who posted the photos and was given the contact info for the above company. I inquired about a potential trip for March 2016 and was given different options. I also made contact with other companies doing the similar tours, in the end I decided to go with Grand Staircase Discovery Tours. The main tour which I wanted was White Pocket. I advised the potential date in March and Chris Chalmers (the owner) penciled this. I also inquired about South Coyote Buttes and Chris gave me the steps on applying for a permit. I did get the permit for South Coyote Buttes and the trip was built around it. The cost for the different tours were discussed and confirmed. As we got closer to our trip, Chris emailed and called several times to finetune our trip. We are now back in Bakersfield. We ended up taking 3 trips with them. Rob Wulff was our guide. Rob was the ultimate guide, soft spoken and knowledgeable about the area including the geology. Rob was extremely helpful specially on our first trip which was an overnight stay at White Pocket. The weather was not cooperative with the wind blowing 40-45 mph. Rob made it as comfortable as he can given the conditions. He showed us the good spots photograph and also made sure as a group (5) we were constantly watched over for our safety. During our hikes, Rob made sure the pace was right for everyone. The cost of their tours were comparable if not less than the other tour companies. Their service was great. Their attention to the details was impeccable. We will be back for more tours with Chris. Highly recommended.

Highly recommend this guided tour service.

The easiest is to take a 2 hour boat tour/ride and it will take you to about a mile's hike to the bridge. Not the easiest natural bridge to get to but would be worth it when you get there. It is a sacred bridge to the Navajo Indians so you are requested not to walk under or approach the arch. Might be better to go in the evening, because sunlight does not fall on it in the morning from the viewing area and you are not heavily pressured to respect tribal custom and not walk under the bridge and take pictures from the other side. Don't even think about walking around it, since that would be walking off the trail and the fine is $25,000, if you are caught.

On the day of the tour, we woke up really early, munched on some fruits and bread for breakfast and drove to the Lake Powell Marina to take the boat. We sat on the top deck for a few minutes to enjoy the views, but very soon went downstairs to sit indoors because the weather was very cold. During the two and a half hours boat journey, we kept ourselves busy by listening to the audio tour and looking at the unique and marvelous red rock formations all the way through. During the last half hour, the boat entered a narrow passage with towering rocks on all sides. A bit scary and exciting! A part of the passage was so narrow that everybody in the boat went "Ohhhhh" and "aaaaahhhh". We finally reached the dock near the Rainbow Bridge, stocked up on water and snacks and started the 1.5 mile hike to see the Rainbow Bridge. It was an easy hike and we were walking among the soaring tall rocks. We looked minuscule and more like ants to these rocks. As the trail turned, we caught a glimpse of the massive Rainbow Bridge. We walked further to see the bridge completely. A colossal structure majestically standing right in front of us! This 290 feet structure is apparently considered sacred by the American Indian tribes. For the same reason, visitors are not allowed to walk under the bridge or touch the bridge. We spent a little over half hour, taking pictures and mostly gasping at this gigantic naturally formed structure. Then walked back and boarded the boat. The return journey is never always fun, because everyone is exhausted. Just lazed back in the seat, watching the beautiful structures on the way, until the boat took us back to Lake Powell in Page.

When we got back to the meeting location, we got on our bus (number 6) and proceeded to the tour location. Unfortunately, the tour bus driver got a radio call that the tour was cancelled due to rain so we turned around and headed back to the tour meeting location. My wife and I got off the bus and went inside to see what could be done and we were given the option to reschedule or get a refund. We chose a refund since we were only in town for the day and a refund was processed. The credit showed up on my credit card the very next day. I can't blame the tour company or even be upset because the rain was out of their control but I really appreciated the way that everything was handled and how quick the refund was processed. Thanks ASCT and we hope to see you again in the spring time when my wife and I will be back in the area!

We were in a motorhome pulling a car hauler. We had a perfect spot even with the length of our rig. Our pull through was extremely easy to fit. The reservation process was easy. We did call to finish up our reservation due to needing a cabin for Daughter & adult grandson. Staff finished our sign in then took my daughter over to her cabin as I set up RV (which was very helpful). Daughter was moving & pulling a 18ft U-Haul, but it fit right next to cabin in its own driveway. They are even installing new cabins right now. Daughter was in one of the older cabins, but you can see from the pictures there were great, for the price. We paid more for a cabin in Idaho & had to provide our own linens. Staff was very accommodating by putting daughter across from us. I saw where some one said there wasn't much grass, you are in the desert where saving water is extremely important. I was happy they had trees. I used the Parks showers & bathroom. It was clean, water was hot, showers worked great, plenty of water, & building was warm. We were very happy with prices, customer service, accommodations, & the wonderful dog park. Dog park gas a washing station to clean your dog after a long dusty or muddy hike (see photo). On top of that, the "amenities" that you are paying for with their high prices are not even available during the winter. No hot tub. No pool, (understandably of course). This review is basically only about their tent spots and their fees for them. I do not recommend this place for tent campers nor for van people. Especially during the winter months. I reserved a dry tent site for $50 after taxes. It had no picnic table so I had to steal the one from the very close by neighbor campsite because there is nothing between sites. I tried the faucet and realized why the website said dry. The restrooms and showers were well kept and very clean as others have said. I'll give them that. They have a laundry room, but 75% of the machines were not working. The basic tent campsites are next to a parking lot with very bright lights as well as by the road where you hear every vehicle. They have "glamping tent" spots that are nothing to brag about with no privacy between the adjacent lots. They need to charge a lot less for the tent spots. Both the "glamping" and the $40 basic. Especially during the winter months!! They don't even have a veteran's discount at this location. I should have just slept in my van by the side of the road and paid $10 for a shower here. Only good part is that I found a great Italian deli in town that made this stop worth it.
