My French is so-so but Veronique speaks English well and I was able to convey what I wanted. She made a suggestion that I was unsure of but lo and behold, it was much better than I imagined. I wasn't sure what to anticipate and as soon as I walked into the salon I was warmly welcomed and put at immediate ease with a inviting smile. Coming from California, at best I know some French words but Sarah speaks English well. Initially she spent time consulting with me and I shared photo of what I was looking for (I went from short length hair to a pixie cut). We comfortably discussed my needs and she was very attentive to understand and throughout checking along to ensure I was happy as we went along. My haircut was crafted expertly and extremely happy with the outcome. Sarah was so sweet, genuine and truly accommodating! Sarah brought me to the rear of the salon to the wash station room. She explained she wanted to create a relaxing and soothing experience while getting hair washed/conditioned. Dimmed lights with a visual slide show projection of tropical images to enhance the experience- totally cool. The shampoo wash and head massage was the best ever! Sarah expertly gave a lengthy head and neck massage and ended with a hot/warm head towel to further add to the experience. It was a real treat! The salon itself has a contemporary, a chic but yet warm design, immaculate. The atmosphere is inviting and friendly. I was brought a tray of bottled Vitell water/glass during my visit. Be prepared since they don't rush you out the door with a quick turnaround appointment. Its apparent service is important and taking care of you takes added time which was very evident to me. Salon is easy to find on a side street off the active (popular amongst tourists) Rue Saint Denis (2nd Ard) about a 15 min walk from the Louvre/Notre Dame. Nice area to explore and walk about. I left the Saravy Salon super pleased and must say it was one of the highlights of my trip to Paris! I've been coming to Paris for years and this was my first time getting a haircut. By the end of it I decided I wanted the tips of my hair highlighted grey... and that is where the nightmare began. Two or three men surrounded me for the "consultation." After 20 minutes of back and forth it seemed I had gotten the image of what I wanted my hair to look like across. They showed me a picture and I said I liked it. To give some context on my hair: I have curly mixed hair, I have dyed my hair in the past and generally understand what I like or how something will turn out. I have been growing it out for a year. After the consultation they began to straighten my hair--huge red flag when they started combing CHUNKS of my HEALTHY hair out because they don't know how to brush/comb curly hair. I asked them to be careful and if they have experience with my type of hair. They assured me they did. After three stylists pulled out half of my hair to straighten it (with no product to protect it, by the way) they moved on to bleaching... immediately I realized that they're bleaching too much, and I told them it's not what I want. They disregarded my concerns and told me to let them work. They continued until I get very upset. Eventually I got the bleach rinsed out. By this time I wanted nothing to do with this salon. But it gets worse! Without my permission they began to DYE my HAIR. No, not once, but TWICE! Long story short, I'm left with undesired long strands of bleached hair. I will get the dye job done elsewhere. If you want a good cut or color how you would like it don't even step in this salon--- because they obviously don't care.
