Best lawyer in Vista California. Highly recommend using James Dicks for a Criminal defense attorney.

James is hands down theeee best there is. Over the years he has helped me on three separate occasions. Once with my DUI (lowered it to a misdemeanor, kept my license!), another time with a random warrant I had pop up (handled that for me with ease) and most recently a speeding ticket. I literally sent him a picture of the ticket and he told me he'll handle it. Shortly after he sends me a text that the whole case has been dismissed!! He is literally a wizard. I'm embarrassed that I keep having these brushes with the law but I looove having someone like James in my corner who I can trust. He has easily saved me THOUSANDS of dollars. I'll never use anyone else. Thanks again JD!! read more

Mr. Dicks and his team were absolutely amazing in helping me out with my case, very attentive and where there when I needed any information. Would highly recommend this law firm. read more

Mr. Dicks became our attorney during an unexpected arrest for a probation violation that my partner had committed back in Jan 2024. Mr. Dicks got him out at his preliminary hearing which was amazing- along with no charges or orders of any sort. He was then released but re-arrested due to another probation violation in March while awaiting his sentence hearing from the first occurrence. Mr. Dicks has communicated thoroughly and represented my partner for his crime-on-crime arrest and has been in touch during these couple months. The judge granted Mr. Dicks request to remove him from custody and removed all charges and prison time, along with any recommended classes and fines due to time served and other reasons. We need to follow up with Jim this week, but I am certain that all will go well thanks to the grace of God. Jim is a true angel and we mean that with the bottom of our hearts. He is a busy man but I appreciate all of his hard work and eagerness to help people like my partner redeem themselves and show the courts that we are not all bad, just sometimes make mistakes while going through hard moments in life. Thank you Jim, we appreciate you and will consult with you for any future occurrence, which I hope won't happen. His staff is great at contacting us when needed- thank you Anahi for all your assistance, patience, and advice from your law office. We are very thankful for your hard work and service provided. We recommend anyone to his law offices as we had a great experience. read more

Horrible lawyer..good salesman. Lied to my family and I multiple times. Also got into swearing with my family

I just ended my case this month and I can't tell you how much Mr. Dicks has helped. Unfortunately, this was my 3rd DUI and was up against some mandatory jail time. I could lose everything and he fought to the end and walked me through it with honesty and grace. I liked that he was straight forward and told me the truth and also had a great and informative team behind him. I did avoid jail time and he won my case and with not the best circumstances. I totally recommend him to anyone that needs help with a DUI. He is amazing. read more

Lets just say I don't remember the car accident, or what led up to it, but im glad James & Lisbette were both so adamant about finding all of the facts about the event. They were ultimately able to get me only 4 days House Arrest & 9mo of DUI classes w/ 5 years of light probation. $2,500 fine to county & of Course SR-22 insurance for 3 years...BUT AVOIDED THE 10 MONTHS IN PRISON THAT WAS ORIGINALLY PROPOSED! Thanks JD Law! You saved my hide & you have got my back! -Kamren W. read more

Would not recommend. That's the best thing I can say. He took my retainer and basically blew me off after that. I was so scared. He did not care about me as a customer and how afraid I was. He basically said had bigger fish to fry, since he had just retained a homocide case. Don't hire him. read more

We've worked with JD Law two times over the last 5 years. We were impressed with their professionalism and efficiency, and also the compassion they showed toward us as they guided us through a difficult time. In both cases we were happy and relieved with the outcome, especially the recent case that Lisbette helped us with. She got us as good a deal as possible and we couldn't be happier to have it behind us. JD Law is a great team, and will get you the best result possible. read more

James Dicks is a man with mountains of integrity and a plethora of legal knowledge to be the guiding light and help you through your darkest days. Law enforcement wrongfully tried to strong-arm me into admittance of wrongdoing. I felt cornered and scared although I knew I had done nothing wrong. I called James and he literally left one singular voicemail for the rowdy detective and the harassment stopped. It never turned into a legal case because of the shield provided by JD Law. 100% would recommend every time. Stay safe and Happy Holidays, all! read more

He was able to get our case dismissed without ever going to court or trial. Thanks Mr. Dicks. read more

He came highly recommended and I got to see why.... I retained Jim Dicks to represent my brother who got himself into a great deal of trouble in a very short period of time.. :-( The task grew in complexity and it didn't faze Mr Dicks. He aggressively "got ahead" of things and I was, to describe it in a single word, "amazed". Pros - Great Communication - Extremely Professional and personable. - Many years of experience working the San Diego Courts - both as public defender and private criminal defense attorney - Highly Effective - Fantastic Attitude. Cons - - I used to dislike lawyers and needed a few days to adjust to falling in love with this guy! :-) read more

James Dicks advised me about my legal procedures. "On August 31, I meet with James Dicks to ask some advice. It was late on a Monday evening, he was working during the busy weekend, and that was the only time that he could see me. I wasn't expecting so much out of that meeting, but I definitely got more than I thought. He was very friendly and super cool so he gave me the space to feel comfortable to tell him what I was dealing with. I never hired a Lawyer before so I did not know how the meeting was supposed to be. I heard he was ridiculously busy working during the weekend and he didn't have many hours to sleep, so it was already generous for him to make extra time for me." "Mr. Dicks was very straight with me since the beginning. He listened to my situation, then he asked some questions that made me realize some things that I had not considered before. After that he told me what my situation was, and gave me three possible scenarios in how I could respond. After that 30-minute conversation, he said that he was not an appropriate lawyer for what I was looking for. However, he still gave me advice on what I could do. He said that my case was very simple and told me I could do it all myself. He referred me to a website that he looked up on his phone on what I needed to do. The other option was that he could recommend me to another lawyer who was a friend and was honest and efficient. "Overall, my experience with James Dicks was positive. He advised me in the right direction. In the end, I did not use a lawyer since he told me it was not needed. He gave me the encouragement to go and learn the system and represent myself. Even though I ended up not needing his services, he met with me for an hour and did not charge me anything. The time with him was very valuable and he was honest, straight to the point, very humble, and helpful. I can see in his eyes that he loves what he does. He cares about people and that is why he was a police officer and he cares a lot about kids. I met him at a fundraising event that I was doing for my sister who has cancer. I didn't know he was a lawyer but he made a great donation and wished me the best. If anyone has any questions about Mr. Dicks, please leave a comment to my review and I'll get back to you." read more

Mr. Dicks, and his staff were extremely helpful, responsive and assisted a close friend of mine, not 1 but 2 by getting the best possible outcome for there cases. we have been very worried about one of the cases for 4 years now, and Mr. Dicks took care of it all in less than 3 days!! Mr. Dicks was very professional, he had me detail my DUI from start to finish when we first spoke over the phone. He gave me the worst case scenario but vowed to fight my case to the very end and I was awarded the best case scenario and his assistants where very helpful and knowledgeable. My wife was a little hesitant about hiring an attorney but Mr. Dicks got a .12 BAC level down to a "Wet Reckless". I recommend him to anyone who wants a fighting chance in a DUI case and wants to be handled by a professional. When I went to court he not only represented myself but 5 others and gave them best case scenarios. Thank you. read more

I called James Dicks right from the car as my friend was being evaluated for DUI. His interview of me to assess the situation was quick and gave him the information to help me help my friend, even before she was in the back of the patrol car. He gave me instructions on which facility she would likely be taken to and which bail bondsmen to see. All enabling me to get my friend out of custody in the fastest time possible. James Dicks knows how to get the best results for his clients from minute one. read more

Absolutely recommend!!! After my DUI, I took the first lawyer I thought would do well, because he said he would. BIG MISTAKE! Having never needed a lawyer before, I didn't know where to start. After wasting a bunch of money on someone ill equipped, I was recommended by two individuals to Mr. Dicks. He agreed to see me and I learned more in the half hour talking to him then I did my previous lawyer whom I actually paid and spent more time with. He said I could hire him, but that he would suggest against spending the money because my BAC was so high. Great individual! He also has a Certification of Satisfaction from the State of California. Something I learned you should ensure any lawyer you hire has. read more

Unfortunately I've had multiple duis, I have used Mr. Dicks the last two. He has always shown me that he cared and did the best he could. This last case he really helped me out. I got off with minimal fines, a multiple conviction program and a Madd class. No public work services. Thanks man. Hopefully I never have to use you again. read more

Not only was the team at this office prepared and professional they were kind and friendly as well. When you feel that you are not in the best position, working with a responsible team that also shows you that they care for you was EXTREMELY alleviating in these circumstances. I was easily able to call the office with any questions and was quickly taken care of. James is awesome and not only did he look and take care of he case, he was not bothered and was willing to listen on how the situation came to be. Knowing that the person taking care of my case was able to understand and see the big picture gave me the feeling that they are truly on my side. Truly exceeded my expectations and I am more than confident in reccomending this place to anyone in need of an attorney. read more
