I received a Christmas gift from out of state--a Liz Claiborne blouse with Penneys tags still attached. I tried to return it but was told I had to have a receipt--for a Christmas gift from out of state! So I'm supposed to call or text the giver and say, "I'm returning your gift--please send me the receipt." So wrong. This experience reminded me of the time I bought a blouse at Penneys, washed it according to the directions--it shrank--but I could not return it because I washed it. I just wanted to take the time to compliment a JCPenney employee named Edward. On this particular day Edward was working in the Exchanges and Returns Department. He was personal, professional and appeared to really love doing his job. Even before he assisted us, we noticed how Edward took the extra steps to make sure that every customer he assisted was satisfied and was very attentive to their needs. I even witnessed Edward keeping calm and being professional even though a female customer was being extra and was berating him. His cool demeanor was praiseworthy because I know that not everybody could have done that. In fact, most people would have lost their jobs telling that customer off, but Edward remained cool, calm and collected. We greatly appreciated not only how he helped us with our returns but how he made sure that we received the discounts that were applicable to our purchases. Furthermore, although he worked diligently and folded and placed our purchases in separate bags based on who the gifts and clothing were for. Edward was outstanding and I firmly believe that he was worthy of giving him an extra special acknowledgement. Your company is blessed to have this wonderful young man working for you. read more

My parents saw some bath towels were on sale and told me to buy some online. So I went online to JCPenny.com and it was very easy to navigate. I don't really shop at JCPenny but they got some good deals for your household essentials. So I made a purchase and going to pick it up at their curbside pickup at their store. So about an hour pass by and I got the notification to pick it up. When I got there and parked in their curbside pickup designated spot. I was amazed how fast it was to have their associate to bring out my purchase less than 5 mins. The female associate was nice and made sure before i took off everything that I ordered was in the bag. I almost never make yelp reviews, but my experience before the day of the picture. It takes the cake. I tried calling, made a comment in the comment section that there may be a range of 9-12 people, but more or less may show up. I tried everything to try and make sure that the photo shoot would be perfect, since this picture is supposed to have someone in the family that is all the way across the country. From my calling, no one picked up, no one bother to call back. Apparently, talking to the worker on the phone, they called the manager and the manager said that since my note of 9-12 people and disregarded everything else that I've wrote. She/he had just assumed that ohhhh it'll be fine to not call to let them know that there was a maximum amount of people. Let's see, I will have everyone who reads this know that, this appointment was made on May 20, 2023 for the reservation on June 15, 2023. Yet they decided to tell us this info on June 14, 2023. Whoops the day right before the photo shoot. I'm sorry, but almost everyone had either called off on this day, called in to leave early, yet their resolve is to block another reservation before the original, which by the way the would charge us double, yeah sure with a discount but even with the discount it would equate to about the price of one session. This was not a customer's fault, yet we'd basically still pay in full, for a picture that we didn't want to be separate. They did everything they could to tell me that the max is the max and that they can do individual pictures of everyone. Which would defeat the whole purpose of having this photo shoot. People who read this can say that, it's just another person complaining that they aren't getting what they want or their way. Yet, sorry no one told me neither did it say anywhere that it would $15 per person in the photo shoot anywhere until they told me that they would discount us for the inconvenience just like no one told us that there would be a maximum amount of people who can be in the picture. Not only that, the phone call with the associate had taken an hour and longer for them to just tell me the same thing. Sorry, but if you are going to charge over a certain amount, you should be expected to accommodate on something that you were at fault of in the first place. Expecting the customer to bend their backs to accommodate on the company's mess up is ridiculous. Also, not only that, I contacted customer service on the website and was sent to call a number that the office wasn't even open for! read more

Went there to buy a men's dress shirt. While looking at the shirts I was approached by a teenager asking for $5.00. I told him to get lost and that he was on private property and that the store manager wouldn't want him there. He proceeded to argue with me and threatened me with violence. I went and found an employee and he said he had noticed the teen was in his department. I had noticed the teen was with another teenager "camped out" with their school backpacks under a display shelf. Unbelievable that the store was allowing this loitering. The employee called his manager then the kids left. The store shouldn't have allowed these teens to "hang out" in their store. read more

This review is solely for the portrait studio. Bottom line: you get what you pay for....especially if you use a coupon. My family of four had never sat for family portraits. And with my youngest nearing two, I figured we should get something to capture our family in the early years. We booked a sitting for the early part of the last Sunday in November. Everyone was dressed nicely with hair also nice. But in the 15 minutes we waited for our session to begin, both children magically transformed their heads of hair to nothing but wispy fly-aways. Of course, just as I whipped out my brush to fix the wiggle worms' hair, we were called back. Our photographer displayed minimal care about our poses or appearance. She seemed annoyed that due to medical issues, sitting on the ground for a pose was not an option. I felt rushed with the poses. Of the 19 pictures she took, several clearly had unflattering hair strays in front of my older child's face (she should have seen that and suggested we brush ti the side of her face), one picture with me holding my youngest had my outfit obviously bunched up terribly, and others would have been significantly improved with a slight tilt of the head...etc. Only once or twice, we received a suggestion other than squeeze in or scoot over. Yes...my 2 year old was a handful...so she did require a bit of energy...but it was only by accident that I found some props on the side that calmed her down and resulted in a few good shots. Of the 19 they gave us, maybe 5 are good. And since you only need one, I am okay with what I ended up paying....even though as a whole, my disappointment runs high. As for post photo, expect them to work hard to get you to buy more than you want. Whatever they quote you for the package, add $20-$40 or more on top for fees, etc. I declined the package and bought the CD with rights (way cheaper for drugstore or home printing) and a family canvas compilation. I love my canvas but was livid that they decided to print pictures of my kids without my permission in a final effort to sell me more whe I picked it up. I found that disturbing and will demand in writing next time that they not create photos of my young children without my permission. In this day and age, that is unacceptable and risky. In all...if I return (price is compellingly low with coupons), I will be much more demanding. This was my first experience and the rushed atmosphere got me. Next time the photographer will have to wait for me to straighten my dress, fix my kids' hair and get a smile on their faces. And if the photos suck, instead of accepting a few decent in a pack of sub-par shots, I will request a re-shoot. read more

The brands from Stanford, Golden Toe, Levis, St. John's Boy, IZOD and Nike are all I want to Buy and Wear. I also find that J.C. You can find good sales, but sometimes it's not even worth it. If you're in any kind of hurry, definitely pass. This store's inner workings are so disorganized. The checkout lines are ALWAYS long. They usually have about 2 people at each checkout counter, but sometimes it's just one person working. I've never come here and NOT been in or seen a long line of people waiting to check out. Most people get fed up and leave. The store is often times a mess because people throw things everywhere. Came in today to look. I got a t-shirt, but no one was working in Men's shoes upstairs. Their shoe sections have the boxes out on the floor so you can help yourself, but no one was around to ask if there was any more stock in the back. Asked a few employees for assistance, but they weren't working in shoes and said they called someone, but no one came. They said whoever was assigned shoes was working a register. Asked again and finally someone came only to say they were out of stock. Wasted like 10 minutes. Everyone else who needed assistance in shoes left. While waiting in the long checkout line I overheard a woman trying to make a return saying she had wanted shoes, but no one was there so she just wanted her money so she could go elsewhere. I am a self sufficient shopper, but sometimes you actually need assistance in order to shop. It's just a loss of business on their part. Grumpy workers!!first off the store was well stocked - I ran into the to exchange a pair of pants I purchased online for my mother's. While I was standing in line at the register a woman with burgundy reddish dyed short hair was just coughing away she did not wear a mask nor did she cover up her mouth, she was drinking water and she did not seem sick I was called to another register the girl who was working was being trained so the older lady with the reddish burgundy hair came over and started to ring me up first off she look like maybe a manager or maybe just training this gal, she was very rude I asked if I could exchange the pants for the items I was buying she told me absolutely not I needed to go over to pick up and returns, OK that's fine I do not mind that. I had two items when I opened my iPhone for her to scan my 25% off coupon I did not hear a beep I asked her to rescan it she told me the coupon doesn't work I asked her why she said doesn't work on sale items I explain to her the coupon says it does once again she says well the coupon does not work did she explain it to me in a nice respectful manner oh heck No. When I got over to the return and pick up line there were two young ladies working one lady had a customer who was having issues with A credit card return she had went and spoken to the manager came back out and explained to the customer it was a big ordeal manager came out instead of taking the customer off to the side to explain everything so that they could continue to help other customers meanwhile the other gal add answered the store phone and seem to be put on hold meanwhile there was about 10 people waiting in line I am assuming people can't do two things at once , A lady behind me was getting rather upset which I don't blame her it was hot and we all have been standing there for about 15 minutes. When I finally got to the counter I had gotten a refund on the pants and explain to the gal about the coupon so she refunded my merchandise and rescan it and low and behold what do you know the 25% coupon worked just fine, I don't know what the lady with the reddish burgundy hair problem was all she had to do was rescan the coupon and listen for the beep when she scan my rewards number it beeped just fine, Please train your employees to respect the customer and to do more than one thing at once. I have not been in JC pennies in a few years now I know why I never shop there and I never will. read more

Well, this is probably a good location for JCPenney. However, this store does show its age. It opened in 1970, and looks exactly the same on the outside as the day it opened. Upstairs, there is no music in parts of the men's department, and its pretty quiet. There are almost always LONG lines at EVERY register, and there are never more than 2 cashiers at each register. The transactions are not usually very fast either. Air conditioning and escalators are out of order quite a bit, and the restroom is usually a mess. Lots of these problems seem to be staffing issues. This store better never close, because you have to walk through it to get between each half of the mall. One plus is that there is usually a great selection of clearance merchandise. read more

I thought it would be simple: I went to purchase gift cards for a local charitable organization that helps women & children. ***This charity specifically listed JCPenney (among a few others like Target) that their women prefer to purchase from.*** I should've gone to Target. Target would've let me purchase all the shampoo & conditioner I wanted to buy for the women. Juan at JCP said he had to enforce JCP's policy to limit my shampoo/conditioner purchase to 6 items b/c some ppl called "diverters"(?) buy salon items then sell them elsewhere. I needed 12 items. There are **LOTS** of women being served by this charity. Dear JCP, really? I was CLEARLY not buying all this shampoo & conditioner to sell at a flea market for a $5 mark-up, or whatever those "diverters" do! Sheesh! I also purchased a dozen gift cards!! Would a shady criminal-type do purchase gift cards?!? Dear JCP corporate, would you please teach your managers what real & reasonable customer service is? Rather than sell me something I was intending to donate to economically challenged women, JCP chose NOT to sell theirs items to me. How does that make any sense?!?! I had to spend an extra 45 minutes of my day driving over to Walgreens and gathering up a bunch of shampoo and conditioner there. I own a small business, I work 60-hour work weeks minimum, and I don't have a ton of time to be driving around to different locations to buy items I needed to purchase for these ladies. JCP, you're a MAJOR disappointment. I will not be returning, not even to buy the ladies gift cards. I will definitely go elsewhere for that. read more

Rude customer service!!!!! Came here for Black Friday and received two $10 off coupons but the rude lady at the register told me I couldn't use two coupons for two different transactions. OBVIOUSLY if the workers gave two coupons at the door than we could!!! I received one coupon while waiting in line and another when I entered the store. Now tell me why I couldn't have used both coupons when they gave 200 other people two coupons as well!! Super dumb. The cashier was so rude!!! My teen lost her cell phone in there this afternoon and when i called at 8:30 , not only did they have it- they let me run down and get it even though the store was closed to the public by then. They were open for an event but the man i spoke to was working the door and kept the phone on him so i can get it. I spent some time looking for some shirts for work today. I found one and when I went to pay, the line was a little long. I went to another pay area with no one in line and the store associate was helping a customer. I waited for her to complete the sale and realized they might know eachother as they were talking on a personal level about her daughter's personal life. I know this associate because she has worked there for many years and is usually very helpful. They laughed, talked on and on and included another male associate in their conversation about how his age of 25 years reflected his opinion. I still waited patiently knowing sometimes it's hard to conclude the sale with someone you know. I saw the customer give her credit card but then the customer took a phone call. I still waited hoping this would be over soon. The customer put her phone away after a bit and noticed the associate didn't include the shoe box in her bag so the associate took the shoes back out of the bag and had to box them up joking with the customer about it. The male associate answered the phone to help someone and I still waited. Just when I thought the transaction was going to be over, they kept talking. The associate knew I was there because she kept looking at me but said nothing or tried to hurry the customer on her way. I finally hit my limit and hung my shirt up and started to walk away when I heard the associate say, "I can help you now hon" to which I answered, "Forget it". While shopping with my husband yesterday, our daughter needed to be nursed. I asked a sales associate if I could nurse in the fitting room as the bathroom was not ideal to nurse in. However, the associate informed me that I would have to nurse in the family restroom, which is connected to the women's restroom. Not only was this "nursing area" nasty, but there was no privacy whenever the door opened and directly next door to the men's restroom. I plan to contact the manger to see why they feel this is an appropriate place to for mothers to nurse. read more

I only gave 1 star because i had to give at leaat 1 star according to Yelp.I wanted to give none. This store is a joke! Went Fri evening at 7pm. The entire store was a mess! I found 4 items & went to try them on. The dressing rooms were filthy filled with so much dust & dust bunnies on the floor that there was no way you could try on pants without getting them dirty. There were 2 registers open in the store. When asked the employees at others registers, they said they were closed, 1 said theiir egister was broken (in lingere). Waited in line over 30 minutes. Went to costume jewelry to see it they could ring up 2 blouses...said they have to wait on jewelry customers 1st! Walked out of store with nothing....such a joke. Came to this store to find shorts. Mind you I've been coming here for over 20 years....but they moved stuff around and I was so lost. I had to wander through to store to find my section. The plus size section is almost non existent and the women's section was a disaster with clothes everywhere and not in the right location. I don't know if they are modeling or what but only 1 fitting room was available and it was near juniors on the opposite side of the store. Not only does he have such a good and positive attitude, his customer service was excellent. He went beyond asking the basic small talk conversation. I don't really shop at jcpenney but they were having a good sale online so I ordered a few things and had it ship to the store for pick up. When it was ready, the email gave directions on pick up. So bring the form of payment u used, an id, and pick up at the women's apparel. The lady with tattoos on her hand helped me and was super rude. She wanted my zip code, phone #, and first letter of my last name? That wasn't specify in the directions. Apparently she couldn't find me in the system with any of those things mentioned. She wants the order # so I had to find that in my email. When I gave it to her she finally saw my order in the system , went n got my order and apologized for the wait. Excuse me? You should be sorry for being rude. I'll save myself the hassle next time and just have it shipped to my address rather then the store. read more

The customer service in this store is terrible! I have been there several times, different days and hours and consistently the wait to check out is 20-30 minutes! They have several check out areas with 4 registers in each but typically only 1-2 cashiers. Although the cashiers are friendly they are quite slow... the fact that there is a line 15 customers deep does not effect then at all... almost seems as though they move slower as the line gets longer... not sure if management or marketing ever reads these reviews.... read more

The Home Store Sucks - the WORST place ever. We made the awful mistake of buying a $2500 refrigerator/freezer from these clowns. Just frickin' TRY to get someone to answer the phone when you try to call for service! Good luck with that. They NEVER answer the phone. We have to call the salon as they are always required to answer the phone - then the salon receptionist has to call the store manager, who takes a message and promises the Home Store will call us back - which NEVER hardly EVER happens. What are we supposed to do if there's a problem. Absolutely ZERO Customer Service from this place. I would never EVER recommend this place and deeply regret ever doing business with them. I waited for 10 minutes and then the woman was trying to help me while still assisting the woman pay for her portraits. So that took another 5 minutes because she couldn't concentrate on either job. :( bad customer service. The portraits were ok, but I feel like the could've color corrected some shots, my granddaughter rubbers her face marking it red in one side and that's how the pictures came out. Not frame worthy.
