Despite having an appointment, expect to wait over an hour for the session. It doesn't make sense that each appointment slot is scheduled only for 15 mins but then they have to edit the pictures which becomes 30-45 mins which causes delay... JC Penny needs to hire more staff for better efficiently. read more

Booked a session via Groupon and scheduled an appointment last Sunday. This was the last Sunday before Thanksgiving, and this place was PACKED. My session was scheduled at 12:30pm and I arrived 20 minutes early because I had my dog with me and also had never been to this location before so wanted to ensure enough time to find it and arrive early to navigate the mall and any potential parking issues or crowds. Parking was easy, and check-in was smooth - however they said they were running 20-30 minutes behind. This was more like an hour behind, and that was a bit stressful with an anxious dog in an unfamiliar place with a lot of other people waiting (including many small children and a few other dogs). The session itself though was great - our photographer was Alena and she was so sweet, kind, fun, and patient with my dog. There was a bit more waiting after for the edits, which again... not fun. But the little consult and my checkout was done with Melinda and she did great at explaining the costs/packages. My Groupon was well worth it and my digital images were in my email that evening. Some of the patrons were very angry about the waits, but the employees remained calm, kind, and professional. Please anticipate being patient and bring toys and snacks for any kids/pets during the holiday season. Be kind to your photographers and the crew - they all did great. My favorite photo of my girl attached :-) read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! We had a 12:15 appointment for a family photo shoot. We arrived on time but we had to wait nearly 2 hours. After that when we go to the studio the camera battery is not working and we had to wait for more until another studio is free. The whole experience is terrible. read more

This was a great experience! We came here for Christmas photos with our 3 month old and the photos turned out amazing! Our photographer was so kind and good with our baby. She distracted him with bells and talked to him when he started to fuss. The photos are absolutely stunning. There was no wait time. Our photographer took the time with us to choose photos we liked and other cute things like ornaments and Christmas cards. This experience was 10/10, and I now want to make it a yearly Christmas tradition! read more

This was a huge waste of time and money for me and my family. After arranging haircuts and making sure the kids had nice-looking clothes for the scheduled photo shoot, we arrived on-time on an already busy Saturday afternoon at the mall to get our portraits taken. Having not done something this formal in terms of photos for a long time, or ever for the kids, we were all a bit nervous. Still, we were very much hoping for high quality photos that could help us remember this time in our family's life. No. These guys are trash. Don't go there. Don't waste your time. The photographer rushed us through some pre-set still shots, not really taking the time or making any effort to be sure the photos looked good, that we were smiling, that our clothes looked OK. Every single shot, except for one, my tie is askew enough to notice. (I had to wrangle a 7-year old who didn't really want to be there...) And out of about 20 photos taken, the looks on our faces are startled, nervous, or otherwise not-recognizably-happy. After reviewing the photos, I told the photographer that I wanted to retake them b/c they didn't look good. And couldn't she at least have told me to tighten-up my tie? Asked us to relax, smile more, or focus not on the fact that we were in this artificial studio setting, but that we were doing something nice as a family? She replied that we'd have to pay anyway, rebook, and come back in a couple of weeks. So we just went ahead and tried to choose the least terrible of the photos. Of the few that we choose, I just opened up the link to where our chosen photos were sent. She did not even include the one of me and my wife where we are both smiling and look good... $200 out the window. Before I left, and while the kids still had their nice clothes on and hair was unmussed, I just asked the kids to come over and sit by me. I took a selfie on my cell-phone of the three of us -- smiling. That one self-taken cell photo is better than all the g*rb*ge we paid for at JC Penny portraits at the Springfield Mall. Don't go there. Don't waste your money. Don't waste your family's time. HUGE Disappointment. read more

I even showed up an hour early for my appointment, and they saw us right away. The pics turned out great, but they are on the pricey side even with Groupon. I'll be back after I save some coins! read more

It's the only JCP studio near me. Year after year I've been coming here for family portraits. Always remember to make an appointment because they are packed during Christmas! Some years I have very nice photographers and other years they are a bunch of college kids trying to make a buck. In the past I've felt very rushed to choose my picture packages, but recently they're a lot better at it. They let you have time to sit there and choose which ones you really like, instead of rushing you out after 10 minutes. I feel like the people taking the pictures are obviously not professional photographers and do the same pose, year, after year. A lot of times my pictures turn out blurry. They should try to hire people who are actually interested in the art of taking pictures. It's just a decent photo package most of the time. read more

I brought my daughter and 3 grandchildren here today to get our pictures taken. Alena was our photographer and she was AMAZING!! She works well with children and she was very helpful. The end result was wonderful and we couldn't be happier!! Ask for Alena if you want great photos taken. read more

Terrible. We have 2 kids. This was our second attempt to get portraits. Last year we brought our 7 months old and we waited 2 hours before getting our pictures taken. Which was well past our scheduled time. We waited and dealt with it. We scheduled pictures in October this year instead of November. Same problem. They told us to come early and again we waited and waited until our children were having meltdowns and we were not able to get our pictures taken. They didn't even have wifi to allow us to distract them with some kind of show from our phone. Never coming back. read more

Absolutely horrible...DO NOT GET YOUR PICTURES TAKEN HERE! They canceled our appointment scheduled for Saturday and didn't bother to let us know. Went for pictures the next day with TWO different appointments and refused to let our 5 year old switch shirts for the pictures. Told us if we switched his shirt they wouldn't continue to take pictures. Absolute joke, not only canceled our original appointment, but then failed to give us any type of accommodations for it, had two appointments and couldn't change a 5 years old shirt....THIS PLACE IS A JOKE! read more

Not a pleasant experience. The photographer clearly did not want to be there. I get it's the holidays and you need to get through 100s of appointments per day, but can you at least be nice? They don't tell you upfront they don't allow outfit changes so make sure you and your family are dressed in the outfit you want. Once the session started and I found this out, I took off my son's top layer while the photographer was moving a chair and she literally kicked us out. The pictures we did get before we were booted were not for grandma's wall of fame. You literally get 1 picture per pose, so you better hope you like it. Make sure you read the fine print on cost as well - there is a $15/person sitting fee on top of the $150 to get digitals. I'd recommend Picture People down the street instead, who are much nicer and more reasonably priced. read more

This was our go to studio for Christmas photos and family Christmas cards. Not anymore! We had a 5:45 appointment, there was noone at register for quite some time. When a staff member finally approached she told me to hold on. After about a minute, a different staff member approached the register, called to a woman who was seated and said, "We can take you. Our 5:45's are late or no shows." I told her we had been there and 2 of my children had been there since 5:30. She said we didnt check in and since we were late they could only take us if someone cancelled or there was a no show. WE WERE THERE and she outright told the woman who had NO APPOINTMENT they could take them! Out of courtesy they should also call out names of customers to make sure they're not bypassing customers that don't know they have to check in or that are there but have not been helped! RUDE & INCOMPETENT ! read more

Arrived at 7:08 pm for a 7 pm appointment. All the lights were off and Darcie had her coat in her hand. As we approached, we thought she was arriving for our personal photography appointment for our 2 kids as we were only a few mins late. She stated she was leaving and that she had shut down everything because store policy is to close the store if appointment guest weren't exactly on time!?!?!? This was out first visit and its sad to say the least. no wonder. read more

Being that this is the only local studio we have close to us anymore, this has been my go to spot for having pictures done for my little guy's milestones. They seem to be short staffed from our few experiences here so its easier to go online to schedule your appointment. Today was our second time here for a photo session. I must say our photographer today was great. I didn't catch his name though. My little guy was cranky and crying in the beginning due to it being nap time and being in a strange new place but the photographer was so patient. He kept at it and gave him time to warm up to his surrounding. We actually ended up getting a few really good shot to use for his birthday party. The only downside I see to using this studio is the turn around time on getting your photos back. They get sent out and you have to come back and get them. Thank god I remembered how it took weeks to get our halloween pictures back. Even then some of the prints were messed up and out of line so I had to come back more than once to get my prints. Thankfully I set the appointment online in time or I wouldn't get these prints back before my sons birthday. I put in an order for 3 pictures today and they won't be ready until the end of next week. Let's hope they look the way the should. read more

I set up an appointment online one-day ahead and they called to confirm it. I just needed a business professional portrait and they did a great job. The photos came out nicely and are at least 50% cheaper than other photo studios that I asked. The session was done in a timely fashion. They even gave me choices for backgrounds! And I have been to two other professional places so trust me when I say this place is a good deal. To maximize savings, print the online coupons. In fact, take a few copies of the coupons with you so that if you want to order multiple photos, you can get a discount for all of them. It is also better to order your pictures right after your session so that you can pick them up at the studio. If you wait to come home and order online, they charge shipping. read more
