The recipient of the gift in question seems to shop often and a lot. She seems to be great at guessing what brands people are wearing and knows styles from AX to H&M to Forever21. Yet, she enjoys receiving gifts from folks, just not from places she knows too well. So with that in mind and the help of some female friends who were already shopping, I somehow ended up here. Greenpoint Avenue isn't home to a lot of these types of businesses. This section of the Sunnyside neighborhood reminds me of the Steinway area in Astoria, except with less clothing stores and way more Hispanic businesses. Baby Blue stands out because I'm told this location is new and the clothes are affordable. Customer service was snooty to me and were generally not helpful. Maybe they thought I was some creepy, perverted male parading the store asking pseudo-superficial questions to pretend I was interested. In the end, I managed to find a "going out" top for $15 and apparently it was on sale. Best part though, was the gift made the birthday girl's night. She thought it was from one of her female friends, but was shocked to find out it was me. Ecstatic and impressed, she said she would be wearing this top soon. Her BF on the other hand asked me when I was going to start working there and I immediately became the hetero man's laughing stock. The laughing stopped as soon I as replied, "Yes, I'll get her a thong next time."

The original label line boasts authentic Japanese quality denim and workwear in addition to unique brands i.e. Haversack from the land of the rising sun itself. Head towards the back of the store for an eccletic collection of vintage dress shirts and some quality denim. I picked up a sweet pair of gilded age pair of jeans for $50 and even sweeter double RL white dress shirt for $30. The store has already received great press from NYT and GQ, but remains a hidden gem. They also carry women's clothing and if that's not enough, stop by to peek at the denim patchwork quilt.

I didn't want my money back but just exchange the dress for the correct size. When I tried to exchange it the manager (I'm assuming he was the manager because I heard him calling other branches and asking how much money they took in that day) then began to check every single stitch on the entire dress inside and out then he sniffed the arm pits and declared that I had obviously worn the dress and was trying to cheat him. When I requested to have my dress back he shoved it at me with the receipt and refused to give me back the bag I had brought it in with saying that it belongs to the store. I don't understand how a clothing store can do business like this but I do know that I will never set foot in a Pretty Girl store again. I don't care how cheap their clothes are, I still have some standards on how to treat people.
