My wife and I were first-time home buyers. And it's true what everyone says, that buying a home is exciting but really stressful as you look at your finances (for the average buyer). Jake and his team were patient and walked us through the process. He let us know what they needed, what everything meant, and also gave us sound advice. For instance, we had an amount in mind to put down for our down payment, which was less than 20%, which in turn meant we were going to have to pay the PMI. He asked if there were things to be done in the house before moving in, and we said there were a few things. He suggested that since we were going to have to pay PMI anyway, why not put a little less down and use that money to help cover costs of what we needed to take care of around the house (i.e. mold mediation, light fixtures, carpeting, etc.) since the difference in monthly payments wouldn't be that much more. He said this knowing our joint annual income and knew we would be ok financially. I thought this was great advice! Jake was very patient. He responded to my emails and texts in a timely manner, even outside of work hours. My realtor said that even when he has traveled to Korea sometimes, he works during the night over there so that he could respond to his clients over here...who does that?! Avoid J C Financial at all costs! I found them b/c I went to bankrate.com and it was listed as the lowest rates for a mortgage refinance and well... there's a reason why. Every step of the process was difficult with them, first I didn't receive the paperwork and then they said they'd re-send and never did and when I called them they said that it was b/c they fired the lady who was in charge of that. Classic. And it went downhill from there. I don't want to get into it, but if this review can save just one person from going with them (I yelped them before I went with them and found nothing) and having another terrible experience, then it's worth it. read more
