My husband and I had our first and only phone call meeting with Kyle about 2 weeks before our wedding day to go over the music sheet. Kyle was nice and patient with us. I was connected to JC Entertainment through my wedding venue (Wedgewood Vellano), and I used them for DJ services for my wedding last year. It was a little difficult getting a hold of JC Entertainment at first because my email was sent to one of their inactive inboxes (so the office manager said). Once that was sorted out, communication was smooth-sailing. Hopefully, the email issue has already been fixed, since my wedding was last year. If not, I would recommend giving them a call. Tom was the DJ at my wedding, and he did an excellent job. He was on time, played the music we wanted, and knew how to keep the crowd (ahem, wedding guests) energetic throughout the reception. We communicated via email only because I was in northern Cal for school. Everything worked out just as planned (including the last-minute addition of an instrumental song to the schedule). JC Entertainment was part of our Wedgewood Wedding package. In the beginning we just complete a worksheet and send to the office email. It's not until about a month before your wedding that you'll be assigned to your DJ and then all communications will be with that person going forward. Scott was our DJ and once Scott took over, he was incredibly responsive. We got on a call together with our coordinator and I was very specific about my ceremony music. Scott was able to get all the songs I wanted and also emailed for me to review just to confirm. We went thru the whole timeline and we also discussed about how we have an outside MC since we needed to a cantonese speaking MC at our wedding for our families attending and JC Entertainment did not have any. Scott was our MC worked great together and didn't need any help on our end day of at all! Scott also made sure to stop by and congratulated us which was so nice! I loved that Scott was available all the time by either email, call or text. He was always responsive from our first intro call to the day before. As a Wedgewood bride at The Retreat, I had the pleasure of working with JC Entertainment as our DJ services provider. Steven was our DJ, and from our phone consultation in the weeks leading up to our wedding, my husband and I loved him immediately! His charisma and professionalism exuded through the phone. He's got great energy and clearly had experience. We prepared a Spotify playlist to narrow down the selection of songs to play throughout the evening, which made it so much easier to avoid songs we would've had to add to the "do not play" list. We also downloaded songs that were not available on Spotify and easily shared them with Steven before the wedding. The energy of our guests throughout the night was great, and I know that's largely due to the flow of the music. It was easy to program the exact version of the songs we wanted to play for each significant event from the ceremony through the reception with our worksheet. I was able to signal to him discretely when to cut off the father/daughter dance. He made announcements for last calls whenever we asked him to, and he always checked with us before introducing the names of our wedding party so there would be no confusion. Even when the reception died down, he was bumping the music with such great energy. Within the last hour of our reception, I had to tell him to take it easy because the remaining guests were just talking outside instead of dancing. Steven was incredible and exceeded our expectations! He's professional and so friendly with such great energy - I can't say enough good things about him! Ok, so I love music. And I have trust issues with people's tastes in music, so before I even contacted JC entertainment (who was a preferred Wedgewood vendor), I had already pre-made a bunch of Spotify playlists for before ceremony, during ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, cake cutting, and some of the dancing as well. Yes, I know, I'm a little nuts. But my husband and I are also really oddballs, and our DJ Mike was wonderfully supportive, and rolled with our weirdness. We had a oopsie moment when one of our flower boys quit on the spot since he wanted to stay with his mom. So we subbed in one of my husband's close friends instead. Mike never batted an eye, and kept the music rolling. We didn't want to do a stereotypical bouquet toss (I happen to think it's strange to call out your single friends to grab a bouquet they may not even want), or a traditional garter toss (our crowd had a lot of conservative Christians and I didn't want the beginning of my marriage with everyone seeing him trying to put his head up my dress). So, I told Mike I'd be blindfolded and spun around, and the first person I touched on the dance floor would get the bouquet. I unfortunately landed on my now father in law, and it became another moment of pure unscripted glee for all (Papa Tom if you're reading this, I'm sorry!! Thank you for putting up with me :D ). Our garter toss ended up being a garter search where my husband had to look through the groom's party to find it. Our first dance was A MESS, and thankfully, Mike understood the telepathic signals I was sending him of asking for mercy to cut the song shorter. I think Mike might have thought it was all a bit odd, but alright, he'd go with it, and in the end, I think he really had a lot of fun with us. From the first phone meeting, Mike was wonderfully thoughtful, professional, flexible, and gave wonderful recommendations. I am so glad I trusted him with all the timings, as well as keeping the energy of the room up throughout the entire day. He kept the pace really well, and was kind in letting people come up to him asking the most random assortment of song requests (e.g., kpop, 80s, romantic oldies, jazz, and even a Russian techno song that my mom requested). I truly believe music can set the tone, vibe, and atmosphere of a room, and Mike delivered in spades. Everything was just right from the songs, to the lighting, to the pacing, and the volume. If you are looking for a solid DJ company that knows what they are doing, and wish to give you the best experience possible, then please book them (book Mike) they're worth your trust and every penny. My daughter got married several months ago, but I just now realized I forgot to review the DJ for her wedding. As a preferred vendor for Wedgewood Sierra La Verne, JC Entertainment provided all the music for the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner reception, and of course, the dancing for the evening. Jon, the owner, who was incredibly enthusiastic and bubbly when we first met with him and made me feel like he'd be perfect for this event, was more M-I-A at the actual event. I really didn't get the feeling like he ever engaged with the crowd. He played music, but that was about it. I never felt his presence, and I certainly didn't feel like he was reading his crowd. He played the songs my daughter and son-in-law requested, so for them, yes, they were happy, but unfortunately, he did not read his crowd very well, nor did he attempt to do anything about the problems that ensued. While I don't like DJ's who do nonstop talking, I also want to feel like they interact with the crowd to get them onto the dance floor and dancing. There's a party going on, and he is solely responsible for making it a great one, and especially getting the people out there dancing. It can't just be about the music, although if he was playing truly GREAT, TOP NOTCH dance music, then that could have "spoken" volumes.... but he didn't, so he should have, at a minimum, talked it up a bit until he saw more people out there dancing. We had a relatively small crowd as it was, so he would have had to work a little harder to fill up the dance floor, or if not fill it up, at least increase the number of people from more than it was. I'm not lying when I say there were only about 10-20 AT MOST dancing at all times. The DJ said very few words the entire night, and while he played the bride and groom's song choices (mostly music from the 80's), the simple fact was most of the attendees seemed to prefer music from either the 60's/70's or 90's and later. I did hear a few songs from the 60's/70's, but very few, and for all the great dance songs he COULD have picked, he didn't. Yes, his songs were danceable, but nothing GREAT. However, we also had a lot of younger people, and frankly, there is an awful lot of very contemporary music that is amazing for dancing from like 2000 to current that he just never played, again, taking into account the people actually in attendance. The fact that I heard a number of people comment numerous times throughout the evening, "Oh, I don't like that song," or "I don't know that song," well, that is a guaranteed snooze fest. The proof was in the empty dance floor, and again, he did nothing verbally to encourage us to dance, either. Why didn't he know.... or seem to care.... that people simply do NOT dance to music that doesn't appeal to them. He should have read his crowd and made alterations along the way to accommodate for what he witnessed. FIX THE PROBLEM and don't let it remain that way. And he simply didn't. That being said, I can't dump full blame on the DJ....... I will take a small amount of responsibility in that I should have then asked the DJ to take a different path with the crowd, or at least, mix up the music, or give him specific, well known and well liked dance songs. I never approached him and should have. I think I was in a complete wedding event daze, and it wasn't until after the event was over, that I even acknowledged to myself that I should have taken steps to remedy the problem. I just attended a wedding this past weekend (elsewhere) where the DJ (NOT from JC Entertainment) played KICK-ASS, really recent and great dance music, and the dance floor was filled with AT LEAST 80-100 people at all times. It was FABULOUS. I'm not going to lie, my daughter and son-in-law were pleased with the DJ because he fulfilled what THEY wanted, so it wasn't a total waste, but I, considering the crowd as a whole, was disappointed, especially after hearing the various guest comments and seeing the end results. From my daughter's wedding to the wedding I attended last weekend, it was interesting to see the contrast from how hers actually went...... to how it SHOULD have and COULD have gone. Oh well. Life is not meant to be lived in regret, so I will chock this up to a "live and learn" moment.... but will still appreciate that my daughter and son-in-law loved it !! read more

My now-husband and I were very impressed with JC Entertainment. I can't tell you the number of wedding I've been to where the sound is a disaster--too loud, not loud enough, feedback that almost makes your ears bleed! We didn't have this problem (or any other problem) with JC. The DJ assigned to us was very professional from beginning to end and, even though he does have a day job, he was so good about responding to my emails! He did a great job of MC'ing the wedding as well. I always cringe when the MC allows for awkward silences but that was not the case here! We are EXTREMELY GRATEFUL to the WEDGEWOOD SIERRA LAVERNE STAFF (ALEX-wedding coordinator, YESENIA-reception coordinator, and VINCENT) and DJ (JON CRANE) and Shy Heart Studios Photographer (SARAH KING) for their flexibility, understanding, and patience. Due to unforeseen circumstances, our wedding started about 1.5 hours late. We appreciate the quick action of our Wedgewood staff and vendors to rearrange our timeline to make sure our guests were comfortable by opening up the cocktail hour first, rather than starting with the ceremony. Though this is not traditional, many of our guests commented how they liked starting the wedding with the cocktail hour which allowed them to mingle and get to know one another before the ceremony. With Jon being the owner of the company and the recommended DJ of my wedding venue, I had high hopes for him. I was wrong. He didn't play ANY of my requested songs, when we had gone over them all in our phone consultation before the wedding day. He was also almost never at his station so I couldn't even say anything to him or make any requests during the reception. He even got into a little dispute with one of my guests and threatened to leave at my reception!! For our father-daughter dance, I stressed to him how important it was that the song was cut short because my dad has a bad knee that would lock up if he was standing on it for too long. During the dance, I kept trying to give him the signal to end the song but he was in and out of his station the whole time. So frustrating! From our very first meeting with JC Entertainment, we were impressed! Jon was punctual and so much fun to talk to about our ideas for our wedding. Jon provided a music worksheet for us to fill out with our selected songs (for the ceremony) and he offers classical suggestions on the sheet if you need help picking something. He was happy to provide the songs we chose for each portion of the ceremony. We also filled out a worksheet for our dance specific songs (first dance, father daughter, etc.) and suggested songs for the reception. There was a space for "do not play" that we filled out as well and Jon made sure to politely decline guests requests to play songs from that list. Our phone meeting to discuss our playlists was lighthearted and efficient. JC Entertainment worked with the venue to provide the necessary insurance information - I appreciated not having to do one more thing myself. Jon arrived EARLY to set up the DJ booth for the reception and the secondary sound equipment for our ceremony. He worked with the videographer so that the microphones didn't interfere with each other. I had no doubts that Jon would make sure everything was handled. Jon made our announcements during cocktail hour and throughout the reception and he was a great MC for our event - he interacted with the guests perfectly and was smiling the whole time -- despite the fact it was 104 degrees and the entire event was outside. Jon was the FIRST vendor to arrive and the LAST one to leave. He gave us a CD with our songs (a lovely surprise) and is genuinely one of the nicest people I have ever met. I got married in Feb 2017, and the music was messed up when I (the bride) walked down the aisle. Dj apologized that the cables were giving him issues. I didn't get mad because I just got married 5 minutes before that. But after the wedding, I kept asking myself, "why didn't they test the cables before my ceremony?" Jon is nice, the Dj is nice, too. But you can tell he wasn't all there on my wedding day. I'm not going to name him here because he was nice to me. When we had the telephone conference, he said yes to everything I wanted, which was nice. Whenever I thought of more things, I texted him and he replied promptly. However, little did I know, it didn't matter. He forgot all about the details I told him. My parents and in laws weren't addressed correctly. The music didn't go off at the right time during the ceremony. Song was supposed to start when we exchanged our first kiss as husband and wife (something I planned for months) but it went off when officiant was still talking -_- these are very simple things that could've been perfect had the Dj paid a little more attention... I'm happily married now but it bothers me whenever my guest makes a comment or when I watched our wedding video. read more

He really set the tone of our wedding and made it a really fun party! All of my guests were talking about how good the music was and how our MC was fun and lively. The dance floor was full of everyone dancing from young kids, teens, adults, and grandparents! Even my guests that were waiting in line for the photo booth were dancing in the hallway! Everyone was having fun! Every single request the groom and I had, he fulfilled! Even with a last minute song choice, he helped me record it and made everything so easy for me. We just got married at Wedgewood at The Retreat. We had Scott as our DJ and he did such an amazing job. Played everything we asked from the Pokémon theme song for our kiddos to Shania Twain for our parents. He walked us through everything the entire evening and made sure we were ready for everything we had planned. He made the night run so smoothly.
