We can always find something good to read, and the price is definitely always easy on the pocketbook. The lovely people who work here are very well informed. I was looking for a classic by Pearl S Buck, and she knew exactly where it was located in the store. I have confidence in these guys, and I know that I can check with them before I go look elsewhere. I think what impressed me most about the paper was the fact they had a section dedicated to only town events called the "police / fire blotter." Most of the time, this section was filled with trivial things like; houses being egged or toilet papered and the articles usually took up less than a quarter of a page. Keep in mind readers, this was some years ago and I know things have changed a bit. Also, back in the day, the paper was delivered seven days a week. Not like now where its only delivered on three days. I still like reading the big news papers, but like I said, they just don't have a touchy, touchy, feely, feely side like a police blotter. The big papers don't afford the community the chance to read what's going on around them like the TP does. The only time I ever heard about crimes in and around SF was from watching the local news or when some neighbor who knew this guys cousin who saw something told me something happened. I'm happy with the TP. They do a fair job on reporting the local news and I think they strive to keep that "small town" feel about their paper alive. Be Careful Alert: As one reviewer already said. Keep away from the TP online blogs. The folks posting on there are absolutely NUTS!

The "Tri City Voice" is a free community newspaper that covers the South Eastbay. It's available at…read morevarious locations, but I usually grab a copy or read it at Peking Garden in San Lorenzo. With offices in Fremont, it has a huge coverage area from San Leandro to Milpitas. It seems to lack frontpage news stories, but has everything else. Content such as city events, obits, police and fire reports, horoscope, school sports, and classified ads. The paper seems to fit the gaps that those other "cookie cutter" newspapers don't cover. The Tri City Voice gets residents interested in their community, and generates involvement. A valuable asset to the Eastbay.
