I was looking around town for a good, but affordable muffler shop and came across Jc mufflers. I decided to give them a call to get a quote on a muffler install and I was greeted with the most kind worker! My current muffler was too loud for my taste so I brought my own in for them to replace. As I arrived at the shop I was once again greeted with superior friendly service and as said on the phone the price would be 45 for the muffler install. My current exhaust was custom built by another shop so they had to work with it and when all said and done everything came out perfect. Highly recommend! These guys are one of a kind! My wife pulled off the fwy because her brakes were smoking. She had our two boys with her and had driven from Santa Cruz. Needless to say she was stressed. After calling the dealership she was even more frustrated. She decided to get help from JC since they were just a block away. They helped her without hesitation. They diagnosed the problem right away, showed her the messed up brakes and fixed them at NO CHARGE! Lesser mechanics could have easily taken advantage of the situation to make out like bandits. I just want to state that I did not decide to fix my car here with these crooks! They tried to charge $2,500 for a $810 repair! My car broke in late November when the alternator belt snapped. Im not a car specialist but i knew where the alternator belt is located on the car and it was clearly not there anymore. I brought my car to this location and was told that where the alternator is attached to the engine a screw came loose and I would have to get the whole engine replaced because the screw did not simply fall out, it was torn off. I was told someone may have done a poor job when fixing a problem with the car previously. So he told me $2500 to get the engine replaced with the water pump and alternator lmao. I was in shock and somewhat disbelief bc i drove the car 10 miles to that shop with a broken engine, alternator belt, and alternator. How the hell does an engine break from one screw coming loose?I worked for a month in a half to save up money to fix my car. During this time I called the mechanic back about my car, and the story changed. I was told where the power steering sits on the engine is broken, and thats why the engine needs replacement. At this point I wanted to get a quote from another mechanic bc something was fishy. I asked the mechanic who checked my car at JC auto care for a receipt or some kind of paper on the diagnostics he ran on my car so i can compare prices with other mechanics. This was a month ago so i can't remember what the run around excuse he gave me to not give me a receipt or paper. Anyway, I go to Almaden Auto Repair which has 500 good reviews on yelp. The guy there was very transparent and professional and had a large facility. He looked at the car, and after 5 minutes brought me to the car lift, took a metal stick and pointed to what was wrong with the car. The alternator was dangling where it was attached to the engine. Okay this is the same story as JC auto-care was my initial thought. The guy ordered the missing screw, replaced the alternator belt, charged the battery all for $510 and called me the next day saying the car was fixed but the check engine light was on and found out that rewiring needed to be done on the car so the engine status would correctly be displayed on my dashboard. In total I was charged $810 and he told me the engine, water pump, and alternator was fine. It did not need to be replaced.. JC auto care are scam artists and crooks. I read a previous review on yelp where a lady had a similar situation where the mechanic would not give her the receipt for the work done and after she found out that other mechanics quoted her a lot less. lol these guys were trying to charge me almost $2500 for $810 work that needed to be done on my car. lol I bet jc auto care was going to put an engine with more miles on my car and sell mine for profit, or even worse not even replace the engine and say they did. Pls close your business and find another profession. People work hard for their money and don't deserve to be straight up robbed clean. read more

Rip OFF! I called JCs when my serpentine belt broke because the owner had mentioned their towing services while I was pumping gas the week before. They came and towed my car quoting me $40 for the belt and saying they would tow for free. I thought this deal was great and too good to be true. Turns out I'm right. Once they got my car there they found other issues and the repair cost shot ho to $400. Being that I was overwhelmed and had my young toddler with me I paid because I needed my car and it was not drivable. After the repair i thought about it and the price seemed high, calling around I found out the repairs should have cost no more than $250-$300 max. When I came back to discuss this with the employee his response was "You didn't even know what the problem was when you called so oh well! Everyone has their own prices!" So, there you go. Everyone has their own prices and here at JC AUTO they rip you off with an "oh well" response. If you'd like to pay double and deal with rude employees this is your place! read more

Where do I even start with this, came to this place because I had a good friend recommend me. I'm a college student and my car broke down on campus. I called the shop they towed my car late night and I got a phone call the next morning from them saying I needed a new battery and alternator. I asked how much this would cost me the guy on the phone said $850, knowing absolutely nothing about cars I approved the work, but the guys on the phone told me that they wouldn't be able to get to my car until the following day and I said it was fine. I had to figure out how I was going to come up with part of the money anyways. I then called and spoke with a couple buddies of mine and they all said that I was over paying and suggested I call around. So I called 3 different shops to ask what they would charge and they all quoted me no more then 550! And I was about to pay way more then that. Concerned I called the owner and ask them not to start any work on my car, he said he would look at everything tomorrow but that they had already replaced the parts. (odd, considering that I was told otherwise earlier that day) I get a call in the morning explaining what the cost of everything was 206 for the battery, 387 for the alternator and 210 for towing and labor. The battery and alternator are way over priced so I asked to see the receipts. The guy helping me out, I could tell he got nervous, then said that he couldn't supply that for me unless the owner approved. Which is sketch right off the bat. So we got the owner on the phone and he said he didn't have them because the warehouse they go through doesn't bill them till the end of the month. So then I ask what the name of the warehouse was and he again said something along the lines that they weren't allowed to disclose that information. After the whole ordeal I'm talking to the owner on the phone and he is just being rude trying to justify his pricing. He pretty much said that if I didn't like his pricing that next time I could find a mechanic on the street. So no I would NOT recommend this place to anybody, save yourself a couple hundred dollars and go elsewhere!! read more

No recommend this place, they toll me my car just need a tune up and 2 sensor replace, I told check everything in the car, they charge me $850 for that. Now my car stop working other mechanic check it, and jc in Mountain view didn't check it right, my new mechanic is going to replace new radiator tune up 1 sensor just for $350.
