Stopped here for the first time! The two people working were very nice and told me about a couple of special coffees so I ordered the Vanilla Flower (Elderflower) latte. It had floral hints for sure. Stopped by during a visit to Charlottesville and fell in love with this local coffee shop/ roastery! The baristas were so welcoming and friendly in helping us pick which beans to take home as sourvenirs. All the beans sold here are ethically sourced. Each bag of roasted beans has an origin label with tasting notes. There were so many varieties! We took home the Ecuadorian and El Salvadorean roasts. Upon trying the El Salvador roast a week later, I could not believe strongly the peaches and cream notes bloomed in the cup of coffee. My coffee was so smooth, delicious, and luxurious that I finished the bag in record time. Don't hesitate to visit if you're a coffee lover! Their roasts deliver some surprising and unique flavor profiles that are worth the trip. read more

Nice service- outside of the place you wouldn't realize there's a whole shop inside. It's in an industrial area. There's a pretty large parking lot. The coffee cake muffin was dry and hard- maybe I just got one that wasn't good. read more

I'm not a huge coffee drinker (my stomach doesn't handle coffee well ) BUT I do make exceptions for the sake of taste. For the past couple of weekends, my sister and I have been exploring the Charlottesville Farmers Market at IX Park. We came across J Bird Supply, a small batch coffee roaster that has a stand at the market and a storefront at IX - the very first drink of theirs we tried was the honey lavender latte (which is no longer in season) and WOW so good - you can vividly taste the lavender and it's not too sweet with the honey, making the combo such a refreshing addition to a walk around the market. They also sell cold brew in these cool large jugs and have a variety of their coffee packaged for folks to take home. Today, I went to their brick and mortar store at the IX park and tried their iced Mexican hot chocolate mocha. Very tasty and not too sweet either (which I really appreciated because I think the flavor came out a lot stronger without being overpowered by sweetness)! There were small pieces of cocoa nibs that added texture to the drink and it was decently spicy too (as Mexican hot chocolate should be). Probably my favorite Mexican hot chocolate drink in town as most of the other ones I've tried just don't have the same level of spice as this one does. I'm definitely a cold coffee drinker but next time I might try the hot version of this drink since it comes with marshmallows! Next time you're at the market, stop by their stand or visit their store and grab yourself a cup (or 3 )~ read more

Are you KIDDING ME!? What a gift to all coffee lovers this joint is. I tried their beans over at Botanical fare, which was legit the smoothest coffee I have had in who knows how long!? We instantly drover to JBird to see if I could get bags to take back home with us, and they had a Huge assortment or blends, and light to dark roasts. Service was incredible! One of their roasters stopped what he was doing to come explain all the beans to me, and the tasting notes of each ones. And they even gave me a sample of one of their darker holiday roasts they had available. What a cool experience! Cannot wait to come back for more. read more

It's special when you FINALLY find a good coffee place. Good? Actually great. Whoever's sussing out the coffee and doing the roasting knows what they're doing. But the drip coffee is very very good. My wife likes the espresso drinks there too. read more

lovely place. excellent coffee every time. staff is always so nice. art and records and fun stuff for sale. Plus, I recently commended the staff for the way they treat so many people who come in with kindness and patience. even a man who I saw recently who was not having his best day and seemed very agitated. instead of getting him into trouble or yelling at him, they de-escalated the situation, kindly talked to him, gave him a hot drink and he actually really changed how he was acting. this is the way a good small business relates to the community it serves - by helping and being understanding so we can all be safer and drink coffee together. i'm getting corny now but it really moved me. read more
