The grass caused my dog to break out in a rash immediately and then the area is small for the wide open spaces surrounding it.

Technically, the River House Dog Park is only open to residences, BUT as long as you can find…read morestreet parking, there isn't anything stopping anyone else from bringing their well behaved pooch here. This is a smaller, gravel park, with a "small dog" area separate from larger dogs (great to keep the more timid smaller dogs away from some of the more boisterous pups), and is located behind "The Ashley" building within the River House Apartments complex. In general, owners are considerate. Everyone picks up their dogs poop, and all the dogs/owners have seemed to gotten to know the behaviors enough so if a dog starts acting out they get taken out and it doesn't become an issue. There are benches on the inside as well as outside, even non-dog owners are welcome :) I'm extremely happy that this is here now, River House was already super dog friendly (literally the only apartment complex in Arlington that allows two dogs per apartment up to 100 lbs each), but the recent dog park addition is the bees knees!

It was Charlie and my first time at a dog park and seeing the great yelp reviews, we headed for…read moreRiver House Dog Park. The Dog Park is located right BEHIND the River House "Ashley" Building closer to N. Joyce and 15th St. The park is gate enclosed, gravel paved for the pup paws and benches for the humans. There is even a sectioned off area for smaller dogs but there were no small dogs when we went so Charlie was sent to play with the big boys and boy oh boy is he a ballbuster hehe. Dogs and their owners are real nice and friendly. There are doggie bags in case you need to clean up your pups' mess (everyone is good about it) and there is a water fountain if the pups needs it (Poor Charlie couldn't reach haha so we gave him a boost). All in all, River House has a great dog park, Charlie made lots of new friends, came home tired and mommy was happy!

Probably the best dog park in SE DC. There are literally no dog parks EOTR but this park is close…read moreenough to me that it works for my pup and I. Things I love about this park: - it's plenty of space for my dude to get tons of zoomies out! I have a 1 year old husky boxer mix who sometimes just needs to run free...and this park allows him to do that! - it's fully fenced! I feel good knowing my dog can run free without getting into too much trouble. - there are two poop bag stations that sit outside of the two gates that are always stocked. - even on super nice days, it never gets tooooo crowded which I love. - there are two separate areas. The bigger side, I'm assuming for bigger dogs, and a smaller side for the smaller pups. What I love though, is the smaller side is still enough space for your pup to run and get some zoomies out. - the park is normally super clean. They shut down for cleaning once a month, which I appreciate. - there's a working water fountain for the pups and humans (on both sides). The only reason for the 4 stars (and not 5) - I wish there was some shade in the park. In the summer it can get BRUTAL for the dogs and the HUMANS. Otherwise, great park. Tons of space. Enough space to spread out.
