He told me, "Make sure you know what you want before you go in there, it's not a place you go for customer service." I conversed with him further to make sure I had what I needed down in my brain. I walked into the shop, the bulk of the shop, where all the merchandise is, is cordoned off with red barrier posts. The method of this shop, this MSY, is that you go up to the counter and you tell the people what you want, they fetch it for you, you pay, you leave. Shopping experience completed. I wait in line for a while, there are only two people behind the counter and a few customers are milling about within the confines of the barriers. I tell him I want an external hard drive. "Two Terabytes" I say. He gives me some options and makes a recommendation. This is more customer service than I had expected. The device is much cheaper than you can get it elsewhere. A quick search of the internet confirms this. As I stood in line waiting for my turn I did overhear a conversation between the store clerk and a customer in regards to why they had more people in the store moving things around. Apparently they are changing the system up to be more like a classic shop where people can browse and walk about the property. Who knows how long that will be.

JB Hi-Fi is an electronics store chain that reminds me of a smaller size version of the US chain,…read moreBest Buy. They even use a similar color of yellow in their company logo. Unlike Best Buy which has stores with huge square footage, JB stores are smaller and tend to be located in shopping centers. There are four stores alone in the Sydney CBD. This location is one of the stores in Sydney CBD. It is located on the lower ground floor of World Square near Coles and Miracle Supermarket. The store has a lot of offerings for your home including computers, tablets, mobile phones, TVs, video games, CDs and DVDs. While I didn't peruse the whole store, the advertising at the store emphasizes their low prices. I spent my time primarily in the CD section which was surprisingly sizable. The new releases here are priced around $20 (about $15.20 US), but they have a bargain bin here with some fairly recent released albums for under $10 (about $7.60 US). Since Amazon isn't in Australia and there aren't many music stores around due to iTunes, JB Hi-Fi is one of the best places in Sydney to buy CDs. If you are looking for the best prices on your home entertainment needs, the best place to start looking in Sydney is JB Hi-Fi. They have stores everywhere. So if you can't find something at one location, you might be able to find it at another nearby store.

Whilst inside the store, I heard a customer discussing tap shoes with a consultant. Ta da! They're the same store! At least, they share a premises. The've got one side each. Anyway, as I didn't buy any dancewear nor do I know anything about said dancewear, I'll talk about the computer store instead. It's one of those places that looks permanently closed from the outside but is actually bustling on the inside, so if you walk past, check the sign to see that it's open, even if it doesn't look it. This seems like more of a repair shop than a store, and I guess they focus on that, but the do sell at least some computer accessories. I didn't ask if they sold the systems themselves. Either way, the store is small, but jampacked (this is also because of dancewear at the back corner) full of stuff, but I think you'd mostly go there for advice or repairs. Still, handy to have one nearby, and it's a port of call for me and my computer troubles.

Didn't discover it until I got home and wasn't bothered going all the way back to get them replaced. My skeptical side says that they knew the headphones were broken because I noticed the packaging had been opened previously and the headphones weren't wound up neatly in their case. It was either dishonest or unprofessional business - either way wouldn't trust them with any more of my money.
