Small, limited menu, delicious food. This is a smaller sister restaurant to am upscale large restaurant a few streets away. We met the owner (he was seating everyone). He was super nice and personable. Grew up in New Jersey but now lives in Peniche.
We stumbled into this spot with thoughts of beef with a gravy sauce but there was nothing like that on the menu... not a problem. The chef took our description (steak with a brown gravy with mushrooms and pancetta, an egg on top, and fries on the side) and made exactly what we asked for, how we asked for it, without blinking an eye... and it was AMAZING! The steak itself, with no sauce, was phenomenal alone. My cousin and I both had the custom steak dish. My wife had pasta carbonara. My mother had the octopus special (fried in tempura sauce). Everyone LOVED their meal.
The waiter also heard my cousin talking about a mojito he had at the hotel bar and mentioned he had been perfecting his own mojito recipe. The waiter asked if he would like to try his new mojito skills out. My cousin took up the offer and received the biggest and delicious mojito he's ever had.
This place is small but personal and a perfect spot to try out anytime you're in Peniche. read more
