This used to be my go to for dinner. Over the last two years things have really changed. Although I was the employees have remained. The lady upfront is very disengaged and apathetic. They are out of chocolate donuts, chocolate donuts with sprinkles, sprinkles donut holes today by 8:20. I asked if she had any more almost ready and she just shrugged her shoulders and didn't say a word. I bought kolache's instead. They were fairly heated it after being in the microwave and hard. We found out about Jay's Donuts after our church ordered from here and the donuts were some of the best I've ever had. SO fresh, soft, melt in your mouth glazed donuts!!! We used to go to other shops in the area & have now switched because none of them have fresh out of the oven glazed donuts waiting behind the cashier. This is probably our favorite donut shop in the area. We've been going there for many years. We'll occasionally try out new places that open up, but none are ever as good. The donuts are always so light and fluffy and delicious. The sausage/cheese biscuits and pigs in a blanket are some of our other favorites. I've never had a bad experience here, even after they supposedly changed owners. We didn't notice any real change in recipes or service. This is still our go-to whenever we want to treat ourselves to donuts. read more

A good place for a random donut crave. I got a dozen donuts to take to church and wasn't very selective about my choices. They didn't have that much of a variety but everything looked and tasted very fresh. The sausage rolls, which have the same breading as the kolache looks like a little mini taco but with a sausage patty and cheese. Interestingly enough, it was delish especially because it was fresh and hot. She was nice enough to give me free donut holes too which definitely added another star to this review. The only downside was the fact that they didn't have blueberry cake donuts. FOR SHAME!! I'm not sure if it was because they didn't have it at the time I went but regardless, I came here expecting my blueberry yumminess... Overall, fresh and hot donuts, interesting kolaches but good, and all at a decent price. I'll be back soon! hopefully this time they won't fail me! BRING ON THE BLUEBERRY CAKE! Seeing as how I live in Mesquite and work in Richardson, I was out early. My niece has to work at 5 a.m. and needed to eat. I saw all the great reviews of this place and wanted to try it. But, seeing as how the hours weren't posted, I had to drive over to the location. Place doesn't open until 6 a.m. I have to work at 6. Wouldn't mind if the place delivered donuts, but, they don't even have their own website. Suffice it to say, I had to go elsewhere for my donut needs. read more

They have lost my business completely. Went in for donuts which I like warm. I asked Ken the lady in front to heat everything. She said the donuts just came off. I touched my donut holes and said can you heat a little more. She snatched the bag right out my hand with such a nasty attitude. I'm a pregnant women just stopping for donuts on my way to work. We've been buying donuts for years from Jay's, but this morning my husband did the usual Saturday morning donut and Kolache run. The Kolaches where great, but the donuts where rancid. My all time FAVORITE donut spot! the chocolate donut, apple fritters are an absolute MUST when you stop by. Sausage kolaches are also a go-to if youre wanting something savory. You will not find a better donut & kolache store anywhere in the Richardson & Plano area. Their donuts are so fresh and tasty! Forget Krispy Kreme, Jay's has them beat! Jay's donuts is very clean and the owners are very friendly. I've even been there closer to noon when they were about to close and seen how well they clean for myself. My family has been going there for years and we don't know what we'd do without yummy Jay's donuts on those Fridays on the way to school and Sunday mornings on the way to church! read more

We love Jay's Donuts! The staff is always super nice and so patient with my 7 year old who can never decide which donut to get. Personally I love the cinnamon donut!! Love this donut shop. It's my favorite one :) and I've been to many in the dfw! Other donuts from other shops just aren't the same and I always come back to this one. They don't have any fancy specialty donuts, just your usual donuts and kolaches. But boy, do they make them good! The bread they make for their sausage kolache is so soft and melts in your mouth. I also love their strawberry frosting and blueberry cake donut. The blueberry cake donut is not overly sweet, which is rare to me. I often find other donut shops adding massive amount of sugar to their blueberry cake donuts. read more

I am so sad. My family has been going to this shop for years. My children have been walking in lately, but this morning I walked in and I think the place has been sold, so I don't know when the change occurred. The donuts look sad and the kolaches look goopy on top. The chocolate on the donuts is darker and not as mild and the dipping is messy and drippy on the sides. Why do new owners change recipes when they take over a succeeding business. This seems to be a trend in our area of the new owners cheating out and changing restaurants, which kills the restaurants in less than a year. The previous couple had a superior product and now I wouldn't recommend the food at this place. So sad. read more

Wonderful donuts! I was shocked at how good these were. The glaze donuts melt in your mouth. Better get there early or the glazed ones will be gone. The chocolate icing ones are great as well!
