Nothing could have stressed me out more when it was diagnosed that I needed surgery to repair a torn labrum, remove a cyst and clean out some calcium deposits. Working with Dr. Jason Garcia and his staff at Summit Health made this process as smooth as possible. Starting from working with their surgical coordinator, to ensure all the required paperwork and tests were complete, to the Surgery Center they use, which is clean and makes the pickup process smooth. You want someone like Dr. Garcia performing surgery. He is a rock star. For me, his confidence made me feel that this was the right choice. The surgery could not have gone better. I was able to start PT 9 days after my surgery. My therapists almost didn't believe I had shoulder surgery because of my range of motion. I've been using (Kinesiology) K-Tape for over a year but it was starting to wear on my skin & it was not even working in the end so it was time to see a doctor. I researched at least 10 Orthopaedic surgeons in my area on Health-grades, Google, Yelp and other sites. Dr Garcia had the best reviews & back in 2008 my mom broke both ankles and Dr Garcia treated her so I decided to call his office. Lea made an appointment for me and she was so kind, got me in ASAP after explain the pain is traveling down my leg. They text me instructions the morning of my appointment on what to do when I arrived. I got there a few minutes early- texted: ARRIVED and they text me back within minutes telling me to come in. The office was spotless, I checked in and within five minutes I was brought into an exam room. After the very sweet nurse took my info- Leo came in and took me for X-rays. He was such a pleasant guy and we had a nice chat. I must say the staff is amazing and everyone was so kind. After the X-rays, Dr Garcia and his physician assistant came in, we talked, he examined my knees and he decided to start out with cortisone in each knee-- that wasn't fun BUT when I went to bed last night it was the first time in over a year my knees weren't bothering me then when I woke up, after sleeping straight through the night-I couldn't believe it, I kept touching the bone that sent shockwaves through my body the day before and the pain was gone. Dr Garcia was so kind and gentle, his personality is friendly not like some doctors who have no bedside manner with patients. No wonder his review ratings are excellent. I am so glad I chose this practice & Dr Garcia and it turns out they are a part of Summit Medical Group. I would highly recommend this practice and Dr Jason Garcia to all and any of my friends and family. I was in and out in less than 30 minutes. And they have valet parking too! How in the world was I going to get through physical therapy when all I could do I lay flat on my back with little movement?!?! Dr Liu took all my pain away and gave me back my lifting abilities all while treating me like an actual person, not like a dollar sign as i had been in Erie. he explained the surgery completely, and the team set up everything from my hotel as well as travel to and from the hotel to surgery center. i have often spoke with folks debating on getting surgery done and hands down the most amazing place i've had work done. and because of that, i went to them again last year for detrimental cervical spine issues. In early 2025 was told my spinal column c5-c3 was unstable and in x-rays you could see it tipping off to the left. the pain i endured was so bad, i often thought about just ending existence. my pain was as if someone put red hot coals under my skin and into my muscles from my skull down to my lower lt region and across my entire back and into my shoulder and down both arms...and the pain was 24/7 with zero relief for months. Dr. Bitan preformed a double discectomy with the insertion of 2 cadaver bones and a mesh around c3-5. I INSTANTLY had relief of all that pain. recovery went well as i was back to doing the bulk of my normal life within a couple days and as the pain subsided from the surgery (he really had to move things around as i have a large, muscular neck) i've been accomplishing more and more of my life again (this spring i will go back to cutting firewood) and i've even picked up a few NEW hobbies in life.... Dr. Bitan and the whole team of Atlantic Spine Center ( his whole surgical team as well as office staff -Love you to death Lisa- truly treated me with compassion, understanding (in my darkest hours of pain i was not a pleasant human) and overall REALLY gave me the feeling they cared about my health. they moved mountains for me and i went from putting together end-of-life plans to now living again. i was not sure i would make it to my 50th bday in the end of january, but Dr. Bitan and the team all DID make it happen and now i'm finding more happiness at 50 than i did the last couple yrs of life (turned out this issue had been going on for a couple yrs only on a smaller scale and had built up to life threatening after an incident). i've been sending everyone i talk with through my business (we own a meadery in Erie pa and are on tons of events as well as folks coming to the bar) to Atlantic Spine Center so they can truly find respite and a life again. sorry if i rambled, i'm just THAT happy and excited to have this pain gone AND be able to do my old life PLUS more again. thank you and much love to Dr. Bitan, Lisa and the whole team of Atlantic Spinal Center!!!!!!
