Overall, the terrain was a little more advanced but had a few short trails for beginners. Several long blue runs and a few groomed black runs in addition to many more difficult mogul black runs. Lots of glades areas if that is your cup of tea. The resort was big enough that you had plenty to explore for a few days and also if you went with a group it wasn't so huge that it was impossible to meet up or find friends if you took an accidental detour. We opted for a package and it was reasonable. We chose to stay at the golf cottages which were perfect for our group, and could get around the resort with their shuttle system. There was a movie theater, bowling alley, climbing wall, mini golf as well as general store, bars and restaurants on site. If you buy a package some of the activities might be included in your price. If you want to eat off site there are a few restaurants about 15 minutes away. It was nice that they had so many things to do because this resort is in a pretty remote area and there isn't a ton around in the near vicinity.

Skiing at Jay's was an experience. The groomers were all…read morepretty rough, with barely any parts actually groomed. Did not enjoy any of them at all. The top half of the mountain was all just a tiny powder on top of ice . The ice gets shaved throughout the day to build up the powder that then gets slapped into something akin to moguls throughout the slopes. Talking to people on the lifts made it very clear that the focus of skiing here is on the glades and not the groomers. Unfortunately my lack of experience made it rather tough to enjoy that. It also wasn't until midday on our second day that we finally discovered some more beginner friendly glades. We ended up being able to enjoy the moons and the bushwacker path. The layout of the lodge is also strange. It feels cramped and crowded even though there werent too many people there. All the lifts feel far too slow as well. A wind cover at the least would be highly appreciated considering how long the ride up is. The misc Ramen truck is a highlight. Delicious lunch option. Truely a gift. Would recommend.

I have been here multiple times throughout my life and each time the lifeguards have been very rude but I will say they take their jobs VERY seriously so no punk ass kids will be getting away with anything. The water is a very comfortable temperature however the water that falls on you in the lazy river is freezing. My main issue is the most recent time I came both me and my little cousin got stuck in the orange slide. We are both around 100lbs and as far as I know there was no weight requirement for the orange slide. There are also no openings in the slide like there are for the chute Incase you do get stuck. My cousin had gotten stuck about three times she went down it and had to push her way down the rest of the way. I got stuck the last time I went on it and it just so happened to be during the dark part and I was terrified and also had to push my way down the rest. The main reason is the water pressure on that slide is extremely low. When I got stuck I could feel the water slowly slowing down.

This is a very kid friendly place so obviously this place is full of kids gold wild. From what I could see there were slides, a climbing wall, a surfing or wakeboard simulator, lazy river, basketball, indoor hot tub and probably more. There is a bar inside and I believe you can also order food. There were lockers onsite and every kid we saw was having a wonderful time. This is an additional fee unless you have it added into your ski package which we did. We only came for the outdoor hot tub since their on site lodging didn't have any. It was pretty large and a unique shape, looked kind of like a clover. It gave the feeling of having multiple hot tubs within which was nice for small groups. It was hot and working well, a huge plus because often times there are problems with hot tubs during ski season. While we visited the kids that were in the outdoor tub were well behaved. It would be nice to have an adults only one as well to reduce crowding. When it's 10 degrees F or below, with windchill, the outdoor hot tub is closed.

While I may be paying a reduced rate, I would still come here on full price. Now that I've experienced both of the gyms in St A I can safely say that I prefer Dukes, hands down. It is a little smaller, but it feels more personal here. I've interacted with three of the staff members so far, and they've been nothing but kind and helpful. My second week here I took advantage of the personal training offer and I've found that now that I've been instructed on proper form, etc, I enjoy lifting weights. The machines are clean and are always kept in good shape and there is absolutely ZERO attitude here. As in, NONE. You come in, do your thing, everyone is respectful and chill. The other draw for this place is that they have classes (gratis, with membership) and that they're a little heavier on the spin classes. I'm sure this will be updated once I take advantage of a few more services, but for now I'll just say that I dig it. Good people, good services, and a comfortable place to get your lift on; check em out. Props to cameron for the tip!

I love the VT- Canada border and when I heard of this bike path, I made a special trip north to…read morecheck it out. 11.2 miles, round trip., the path starts in downtown Newport at the waterfront - State building. Trail markers point the way north to Beebe. The path starts in town, through the waterfront park, past the Prouty Beach and to the North County Hospital, where it leads onto an old gravel train rail bed. The trail is for beginners. Its all flat and look a little over 1 hour to complete the round trip. Hybrid bikes will work fine. Some locals call this trail the Beebe Spur 'n spin. Beautiful scenery that travels along Lake Memphremagog, and the backyards of the locals that have lake access. In Beebe, the path turns off the lake, and travels through some local farms for a few more miles, until it ends at a local road at the US- Canada Border. A sign will warn you to check in with customs if you wish to continue to ride. We did not have our passports so we turned around. Next time we may venture further.

This (along with two other trails over the border) make for a great (and relatively easy) 1/2 day…read moretrip. Here is a description of the 30-mile ride I took this week - PASSPORT REQUIRED: Park at North County Hospital on Prouty Rd. (Newport). Trail starts 200 feet east. Pick up the gravel trail heading north by Lake Mephremagog. Good conditions for Hybrid and trail bike tires. At the end of the trail, take a right onto the paved road (North Derby Rd.) Approx. 2 miles to the end, then left. Pass through Canadian customs. Take a quick, few-hundred feet detour, east from the Customs house for a photo of Canusa St. dividing the US/Canada. Then back to the customs station and a right following Rt. 247 north for about 3/4 mile, past a large "Rediker" stone and a couple of banks, until you see the Tomifobia Nature Trail heading off to the right. The first mile of this 19-km trail isn't too scenic but it gets better very quickly. I went about 5 miles down the trail, then turned around and came back to the marked road barrier at "Ch. de Stanstead" (Stanstead Rd.?). There's a pond to your right at this crossing. Left /southeast on Ch. de Stanstead for about 2 miles to its end, then left (east) on Rue Maple. (This Stanstead/Maple roads part is seriously uphill for a total of about 2.5 miles). At the end of Rue Maple, you're in downtown Stanstead. Take a right (south) onto Rt. 143/Rue Dufferin heading back towards the US border. Just before the border, make a left on Boulevard Notre Dame, then a quick right on Baxter. A couple of blocks take you to the Haskell Library and Opera house, straddling the border. Park the bike on the Canadian side and walk around to the front door of the library which is on the US side. Make sure to take a tour for 5 bucks to see the opera house and the stripes on the floors that mark the border running through the building. From the library, go back north on Rue Church, 1/4 mile to Blvd. Notre Dame (Rt. 247) and take a left (west). Cross Rt. 143 (large stone fountain will be on your left). After a quick down-hill (1/4 mile), bear to the right on Rue Passenger, following black on white signs for "Piste Cyclable de Stanstead" bike trail . It's a little hard to find, so best to look at a Google Map before leaving the library to get familiar. Basically it's up a short hill on Rue Passenger than downhill left. You'll see the trail to the right at a power substation. It's less than 5 minutes from Library to this trail by bike. Follow this bike trail about 2 miles until it crosses Rt. 247, about a 1/4 mile from the border station you where you entered Canada. Go left (south) on Rt. 247, through US customs, then a quick right at the post office to follow your way back on N. Derby Rd. to the Newport Trail and the start of the ride. The Tomifobia and Newport trails are both loaded with beautiful sites. The final trail (Piste Cyclable Stanstead) is more functional than beautiful, but was in excellent condition (hard-packed dirt) and kept me off the main road (Rt. 247) just to the south of the trail. With that said the customer service you get from Ron is second to none. So much so that I drive from NH (tax free) to his shop almost 4 hours away to buy bows exclusively from him and have him set it up. The care he takes in each customer and passion he has for archery shines through immediately. Whether you're a seasoned archer or in the case of my fiance he had her setup and on target in no time. I could and have literally spent all day there every time I go. Great selection of products and very competitive prices that beats out the big box outdoor stores. I can't recommend this place enough.
