It is nice to escape the chains and despite what seems like quite a high staff turnover and so I have not built a personal relationship with people working there, it has an independent feel. The staff are friendly but not personal, but they are professional and provide a good service. It is homely, quite warm and non challenging. A good place for families, although not specifically designed for children. A decent choice if you are in the area.

This is the question I pondered on whilst waiting to be served at The Blue Oyster Fish Bar, which coincidentally claims to have won a prize for best fish and chip shop of the year. For once however I can agree with this accolade. The chips are fat, the batter is thick and it is open all day (unusual for London chippies). There is also a large seating area at the front, ideal if you're not keen on eating fish and chips the traditional English way( in the rain on the street outside).

I think the owners have changed. I love the freshness of the fish, coated in beer batter and fried to perfection, with a wedge of lemon on top. Chips perfectly cooked, with the added crunch, not your average soggy bottom. The fish is laid on top of the chips and yummmy yummmmy yum! The taste brings back memories for sure! My belly is so satisfied!!! I can't believe the last time I came here I was 18! Will definitely keep coming back for more childhood favourites. #livelifelikeldn

The shop is spotless, the people are lovely and friendly, and the fish is super fresh and perfectly battered and fried. I agree with the comments elsewhere around the chips -- not as good as the fish -- but since we are all about the fish and not the chips, we give it a 5.

I ordered the haddock and chips and it was amazingly tasty. The croquettes are good, but really recommend the fish and chips. If you see the oysters and seafood cold appetizer-- definitely try it with Prosecco. Great staff, a really fun bunch that make you feel like you are eating at a friend's home.

The best fish and chips I ever eaten. Regular customer, never been disappointed. I couldn't believe…read morethis place hasn't visited by any of my fellow Yelpers. This is truly been kept quite by the well heeled locals of Highgate and Dartmouth Park for too long. I would best describe this place as a posh fish shop. Forget any images of greasy, oily, bland fish and chips you may have experienced in the past. This is a whole other level. Firstly, the chips are triple cooked Maris Pipers which is (as all self respecting British connoisseur will know) the best roasting/ frying potato. The fish is locally sourced and would have been swimming around the North Sea no less than two days before. The fish is beer battered in locally brewed Camden Hells larger and it has to be one of the best pieces of batter you can get. It comes in at £11 which is slightly more than you would pay else where but the difference is roughly about £4 but well worth it. They also offer an array of other quality seafood based dishes all of which I haven't tried but on viewing look amazing. If in the N19/NW5 area or a tourist wishing to sample the national British dish at its truly best then defiantly go out of your way to visit. I've attached the menu with prices along with address so guys defiantly check it out if looking for a fish fix. I'll attach some more images when I next go in.

Upon walking in we were greeted by friendly faces and sat down by the windows at the counter. The menu is pretty simple yet delicious as it has vegan options too. The fish was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside and the chips were perfectly crunchy. The staff there were quite friendly and made sure everyone was happy with their choices. For the two fish and chips, tea and lemonade it came up to £38 which was reasonable for the size of the food portions. We'd definitely come back here.
