I called 1st thing in the morning and Javier was able to schedule my son for a same day appointment. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND making an appt. The place is located INSIDE of Sola Salons, Suite #2 in downtown Sac. Parking is an absolute nightmare *sadness* After circling for ~20min looking for an open meter, I finally broke down and opted for the paid lot in front of the building ($2 per 20 minutes). It would have been ok, but Javier was running a little behind and it was 20 minutes after our appt time before my son was in the chair. I wish I could've found an open meter instead of paying an $8 for parking in the lot *oh well* not this barber shops fault. Javier took his time and did an AWESOME job transforming my teenagers curly mop into a stylish wide base mohawk! I am most impressed with his clean lines and his eye for detail. I had a bit of trouble locating the shop in the plaza and it took me a bit time to get to my appointment but once inside I was impressed by the relaxing atmosphere. I been meaning to do this review for a long time, but Javier is probably one of the best barbers in Sacramento. I'm originally from the Bay Area so I was hesitant to try a new barber when I moved out here. Went to see Javier for a fresh fade when he was cutting hair in EG and he didn't disappoint. Since then he's been cutting my hair for the past 4 years. Some people may think the price is steep but you get what you pay for. A fresh cut from someone who takes pride in their craft. He's all the way in downtown sac now, which is a bit of a commute for me, but I'd rather drive the extra miles and get a great lineup and fade from Javier then take a chance on someone out in the EG area(which I've done and it wasn't the same). Dude tapered the back super high without even asking if I wanted that, which I didn't, and cut the top way shorter than I asked. I found JM after noticing the flawless reviews, so I hit up JM and was able to have him fade me up that same evening. JM is not only professional but a true master at his craft. You can tell he is genuinely passionate about what he does. I appreciated the fact that JM would hand me the mirror to make sure the fade was how I wanted. JM even spit some barber knowledge which I really appreciated. The previous barber shop I went to pushed my side hairline too far back, so JM pointed it out and let me know that no barber should ever push back one's natural hairline further then it is. It's shady since some barbers will do this to get you back in their seat as soon as possible so you get lined up more frequently.
