Food was ok, mashed potatoes were instant, not real potatoes. CFS was good. But the problem is with the INN. It has totally gone downhill since we were there last. I called 2 months in advance for reservations for 2 nites. It took a 3 tries to get thru on the phone. They don't always answer the phone. Finally got Brenda after a couple of days & she took my reservation but said she didn't need a credit card or even ask for my phone number for confirmation. She said - just check back a week or two before your arrival. That didn't feel right so about 3 weeks prior I sent a card by mail confirming my arrival, along with my name, address, telephone number, etc. Then on the 28th, 3 days before our arrival, I called again. Reached Brenda again. We arrived at 5:15pm on Friday 10/1. Neither the woman who came out to help us, or later Brenda, could find our reservation. I pulled out my notes and read off that I had called on 8/6/2021 at 11:55am, then the card, then the phone call 2 days prior. Brenda said "wow, you take good notes." She asked about beds preference again stating that the only thing she had available was room #6 with a full sized bed & one twin bed. The woman with her said something about room #10 and Brenda said "I was going to give them that room but Momma gave it to someone else earlier today...." It was apparent that they had NOT reserved a room for us. We advised we would take #6. She then advised that the TV might not work - we would have to reset the DISH connection by doing a reset when we first turned it on. The place looks really run down now, the yard was not mowed, & we had to walk thru the overgrown weeds to our room. We put our bags in the room & went back to the dining room to eat dinner. After dinner we got a better look at the room and it just went south from there. The room smelled. There was something spilled & rotten/soured on top of the little fridge - it smelled like clabbered milk. Only one lamp in the room worked. The smoke detector was laying on the dresser next to the TV - no batteries in it. There were cracker crumbs on the dresser, and a Kraft snack wrapper. The bathroom floor was in horrible condition. The room carpet was filthy. There was old dried grass all in the room - on the carpet, on the sink, in the shower. When I turned on the water in the bathroom it came out orange from the old rusted pipes. There was 1/2 a roll of toilet paper on the shelf, none on the roller. There were ZERO amenities - no soap or anything. I usually carry my own shampoo & conditioner but I expected soap. There were NO cups or glasses in the room in case you might actually drink the orange water from the sink or shower. I looked under the sink for any more toilet paper or soap & saw that the whole inside cabinet under the sink was covered in mold. The ice bucket was in there too & it was totally covered in mold. Inside the ice bucket was about 4 inches of what used to be water with lumps of mold floating in it. There was no cover over the light bulb in the bathroom ceiling. We were pretty upset by then but it was late, it was dark, and there wasn't another hotel within a hour & a half - thru the mountains. Everything in Broken Bow & Hochatown was booked due to it being a weekend & the Bigfoot festival. We had no other options so we decided to check the beds for bed bugs so we could at least stay inside instead of in the parking lot in our truck. There were no signs of mice, roaches, or bed bugs BUT when we lifted the sheets in the beds there was some unknown plastic trash in the twin bed BETWEEN THE SHEETS and in the full bed was a broken adult sex toy!! Using a flashlight from our truck we saw white stains on the blue bedskirt, below the 'toy'. It was obvious that the sheets were NOT CHANGED between guests. We were tired & desperate at this point so we went to the Dollar General down the road & spent $42+ dollars on disinfectant, cleaning supplies, a shower mat, plastic to cover the beds with, & $3 pillows. Also batteries since the ones in the TV remote were dead. And cheap socks to wear when walking in the room. Back to the room and we spent an hour cleaning. New batteries in the remote turned the TV on but the only offerings were PayPerView stations. You couldn't even type in a channel. Then we discovered that when you flushed the toilet water would come out the bottom of it from the seal or O-ring or somewhere so we had to put the towels in the floor to sop up the water. We talked to the guy in the room next to us when he came in around 8:30pm and he said his room smelled too. Two windows for his room would not even shut - they were rusted OPEN so he slept with the air conditioner on and open windows. He said it helped with the smell in there. Nothing but conflicting excuses from the Innkeeper

We had to try it! We both had the steaks, my wife having the ribeye and I had the New York strip. We both had the fully loaded sweet potato. I had the salad bar and she had the corn. Everything was incredibly tasty. The owner was very friendly unhelpful and it was fun to read up on the history of the railroad car. If we are ever back in the area, it is definitely on our list of places to visit again.

It provides an unique environment with a folksy vibe. The railroad car does not look as clean and crisp as their web page photo and it's been painted what appears to be a dark burgundy. It was dark and raining so it's hard to say on the color. Inside is cozy and comfortable. It's a neat venue. The menu consists of typical American comfort food, at least for the south. Three of us us ordered chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, cream gravey and fried okra. The outlier ordered fried chicken livers with French fries and fried okra. All four of us were pleased with our meals. The chicken fry was good as were the potatoes and cream gravey. The fried okra was excellent. The chicken livers were excellent and begged for mashed potatoes and cream gravey. The French fries Ken ordered weren't very good. I think they were under cooked. We had a nice, enjoyable dinner. The service was excellent and the prices moderate

The staff was nice and sang well (as they sang with the videos on the screen). Oh, by the way, don't forget to visit the gift shop on the 3rd floor. When we were first seated, the table wasn't clean. When my sister politely mentioned it, the waitress seemed more defensive than apologetic and moved us to an even more uncomfortable table. Service overall was very slow, especially considering they were not busy. It took a long time just to get drinks, my tea was never offered a refill, and my mom was brought the completely wrong meal -- she ordered a chicken sandwich and received a hamburger instead. The food itself was honestly pretty disappointing for the cost. Ralph and I both ordered the chicken fried chicken, which was around $27 each, and it came out cold. The green beans were cold too and honestly not good at all. Overall, the food felt very average and definitely not worth the price point. The one highlight was the famous quail poppers -- those were actually really good and probably the best thing we had all night. Sadly, after all four of us talked about it afterward, we agreed the experience was maybe a 3 out of 5 at best, and that's being generous. We really wanted to love it, but it just fell short in both service and food quality.
