Was driving by this cool location in Gaithersburg and had to stop. This place looks unchanged since it opened 100+ years ago, and still is a working MARC train stop. A great little coffee/lunch spot with loads of options for sandwiches, coffees, specialty drinks, and pastries. I got the Beef & Swiss (Locomotive) which was yummy, family tried the bulgogi sandwich and "the limited" which was honey ham and cheese. The prickly pear refresher was especially good on a hot day, as was the fresh fruit cup. Overall this was a great eating and entertainment spot that I would highly recommend. read more

If I'm going to be honest, this is the best coffee in Gaithersburg in my opinion. They have smoothies, sandwhiches, lattes, and even more options to chose from. Their variety is amazing!! They make the sandwiches in store, and all employees are super kind. The best part about the coffee is their ice cubes. They're made of coffee!! That way, if you're cubes melt, you still have more, not watery-coffee! The establishment itself is right on the tracks, connected to a small seating area that used to be an old train station. I like this cute coffee shop!! I use to live in the complex next to this for almost 6 years but never went here. I'm so mad I didn't. I missed out! The Korean ladies that work the front of the register are so nice!!! I went there to get come coffee and the vibes were great! Going inside reminded me of the Harry Potter train scenes. Haha. Super nostalgic! There is a parking lot outside so you can park there and there is seating inside and outside of the coffee shop. There are sandwiches and bakery goods you can get too. My friends love their breakfast sandwiches and go here often. I work in the area so I will definitely come back! They have random drink specials here too! So be on the lookout! read more

This is the second time I visited this place. Coffee was fresh & strong but not hot enough. There's no free refill so two of us spent $16 just on coffee :( Burger was decent but tacos were really runny. I ordered the Tuna Avocado sandwich, the pickle onions were really messy & hard to eat. The tuna fish was tasteless, definitely won't recommend it. Staff are friendly, not a bad choice for a quick bite. read more

I had been meaning to pop in here for some time, as it was one of only a few independent coffee shops in the area. I popped in about a year ago and can still taste the one sip of the worst latte I've ever had. I ordered an almond milk latte and quite literally have no clue what the heck that was. The taste was so horrific I threw it out right away. I didn't find the atmosphere to be anything special, however the outside is cute and charming. The service was only ok, I was given a strange look for asking for almond milk, even though they offer it and the people weren't all too friendly. I admittedly didn't get any food, but it didn't look impressive from what I saw. I'm very curious how this place gets even halfway decent reviews and is still operating. From the taste of my latte, I have a feeling this place and their machines aren't cleaned as they should be, or ever. I'm truly curious if inspectors have ever been because no way would they allow this place to still be operating. Such a disappointment because the location has so much potential. read more

Great unassuming cafe with surprisingly good food. The building looks a bit dated, but the bathrooms were clean. The left bathroom had the heat blowing which felt nice from the windy chilly day. Only issue was the water pressure was extremely low from both sinks. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie and a bulgogi sandwich that was similar to a cheesesteak, with a Korean twist. I thoroughly enjoyed the sandwich. I wish there was a bit more bulgogi but not trying to be picky. The lettuce they used was fresh and added a nice healthy texture. The Korean lady who took our order was friendly as well. Would come back to try their coffee next time as well. I already came caffeinated. read more

I live across the street and I was so excited having a coffee shop across the street. I was pretty disappointed and only go there when I'm out of coffee at home (or when I drive to Starbucks or Dunkin'). I asked for a vanilla latte, and received what was most likely vanilla flavored coffee with milk. There was definitely no espresso in it. This place has so much potential bc it's super cute, but maybe the owners are just taking advantage of the great location and are not trying to create a great product, idk. read more

I decided to visit this coffee shop based solely on the quaint outside appearance, and anticipated it to be a great local spot. However, I was bitterly disappointed by the quality of the coffee which was acidic and tasted burnt. Not many dairy free options either - just soy and oat milk. I moved to an apartment within walking distance of this coffee shop, but I rarely go there. I went once and found it to be just a bunch of packaged/wrapped grab & go food. The coffee was nothing to write home about. It has a great location, next to the museum. I suppose they cater to the MARC train riders in a hurry, but they weren't very fast and I was only one of two customers there at the time. The other person seemed to be trying to pick up a coffee and sandwich order she had made and paid for the day before, but had to leave because her train arrived. She almost missed the train that day, too, because it took ages. I might go more often if they were open on Sundays, when I walk over to the park to read a book and drink a coffee, but instead I make coffee at home or pick it up at the nearby cafe. read more

So disappointed. I'm volunteering for the Gaithersburg Book Festival and stopped in for a latte. The staff is not prepared and talking on their cell phones, the latte is watered down and awful. I work nearby, so this is one of the handful of food options within walking distance. It's also one of my least favorite of said options so, while I do go from time to time, it's very much not someplace I visit all that often. The food is okay, but it's nothing special. There have been several times when I've gotten a sandwich or dessert that hasn't tasted quite as fresh as you'd expect it to be, and overall I haven't been that impressed by anything that I've had there. Their coffee and tea options are quite good, which is their saving grace. I love their Chai tea, and it's a lovely treat when it's cold outside. This "vintage" little brick station by the tracks right in Olde Town Gaithersburg could be a super coffee and sandwich shop. We lunch there often mainly because, in nice weather, we can sit outside under big umbrellas, and wait for the trains to pass as we eat by the tracks. It's a bit of thrill worth enduring the noise. But the coffee is no big deal, the sandwiches are big and taste okay, but made with processed meats, etc., and the salads, cakes, cookies and chips are packaged in plastic - more like fancy fast food. I've lived in Olde Towne a long time and I have always loved their sandwiches. There egg,cheese, and sausage sandwich are particularly good. They have fresh quality veggies and the owners are very nice. Overall to the people who are not satisfied completely with this quaint shop, sorry its not like you precious Starbucks with their "gourmet pastries". The pastries are great for the record and there coffee taste good to me. If any of you go for one, try the Caramel Macchiato, one of my favorites when I go in. My office moved to old town Gaithersburg six months ago and I find Java Junction to be a nice reliable lunch spot. Their food is fresh, the portion's generous and the prices reasonable. The owners are friendly and prompt, and the atmosphere cozy and quaint. A nice alternative to your cookie-cutter fast food chain. read more
