After having really good coffee at Java Jo's other location, I stopped at this one, because I really wanted a frozen Mocha on such a hot day of hiking. Sadly it wasn't up to par as usual as is the case at other locations. It didn't have any flavor, or I should say barely any flavor. Such a disappointment after driving away only to find out my drink is undrinkable.

Every time I pass by Java Jo's, there's a line of cars into the street. After trying it, I can understand why. Java Jo's balances a classic menu with a creative and unique drink options. When I visited, they were extremely busy, but the wait wasn't as long as I expected. The service was friendly and they seem to have a decent number of regulars who talk to each other in their cars while waiting for their coffee. This location seems to foster a sense of community and I talked with three different customers while waiting. Even if you're not a regular here, you're treated as one. I especially enjoyed seeing how many dogs visit here. I don't have a dog, but this location seemed very dog-friendly. I ordered an iced americano which was good, but what made it great was the cold foam. I've never tried this combination, but it's quickly become one of my favorites. Java Jo's gets their cold foam exactly right, it's the perfect consistency and not overpoweringly sweet making it a great addition to balancing the bitterness of an Americano. I'm looking forward to revisiting and trying more of their menu!

My absolute favorite place for coffee in the United States. Years ago, like, more than 10, someone bought me a Kramer (like a Mexican mocha) from there and I fell in love. When I moved back to Arizona, where there is nothing but a Starbucks, I lamented the distance between me and that little coffee shack up on 1st Avenue. When I would come for a visit, that drive thru was one of the first things we'd hit. Once we freaked out because we couldn't find it, not realizing we were on the wrong Avenue. And I kid you not, in the back of my mind, when it was time to move back to utah, Java Jo's was on the list of pros. Ok, enough about my obsession with the place. Here is why. It started with the Kramer. Cinnamon spiced chocolate (think Abuelita) with espresso and steamed milk. Then, the Mountain of Mocha. Double chocolate, espresso, steamed milk. Frozen mocha, frozen chai, breves, soy and almond milk, and employees that seem to stick around for years. They are consistant, local and friendly, and in all the years I have been coming here, I have gotten a drink that was off ONCE. They give you a chocolate covered espresso bean with every order and I pretty much love everything about the little place. My drinks are my treats and I feel like a giddy little kid everytime I get to pull up and decide what I'm having.

Of all the new coffee places popping up, this is the best coffee in town!! The caramel Cubano is my favorite, hot or cold, it's so tasty.

This place has quickly become a staple every time I am in SLC and with a seasonal rotating menu, plus all the normal coffee shop classics, there's something for everyone. Matcha is great, chai is solid, coffee is great and they even have a decent selection of other teas. Don't even get me started on the assortment of breakfast foods and pastries (wonderful)! Their sourdough toast is a must and boasts an array of fresh toppings to choose from that anyone can find something they'll like. Price is average. Service is quick and friendly. Presentation is nice-enough (nothing to gawk at). There are minimal outlets but lots of seating indoor and outdoor, but there is seemingly always a line so that must mean the locals love it too. I'd come early! Oh! They also have a board full of community events and a local artist sticker machine which makes me excited every time I'm in town. For this visit, I got an iced oat banana matcha and a sourdough slice w ricotta and seasonal berries. The matcha was buttery and smooth, well mixed, and lightly sweet. You can definitely taste the banana but it is minimal, which I like. The toast came warm and soft and crispy in all the right places. Blackberries and blueberries were juicy and complimented the cheese/bread nicely. The honey added the softest sweetness, tying it all together.

Such a good spot to study/get some work done. They also have outdoor seating. My husband and I walked here for a coffee. The girl working was really nice. I got the banana brown sugar iced latter and my husband got the browned butter Carmel latte iced. The banana brown sugar wasn't quite as sweet as I wanted but still good. My husband thought it had a really strong banana flavor while I could hardly taste the banana at all. His was sweeter than mine so I liked that one a little more. Overall, I'd highly recommend this spot either to grab a coffee or to go hang. We didn't get good this time, but I'd like to try it since the menu looks amazing!!

The coffee itself comes from specialty beans being brewed by super talented baristas. Pricing on this shop is fairly normal, considering it is a highend shop. I love stopping by because their baked goods are made by Mims bakery and Tomodachi, which are both fantastic. These aren't just frozen baked goods defrosted for a quick snack, but actually worth visiting for by themselves. A perfect compliment to a great cup of coffee. The shop itself has a ton of seats, but they are quite frequently occupied. Expect a busy shop, and if the weather is great, the patio will also be full. The decor of the shop is a little more modern and "clean" with simple design. Plenty of great light, open seating, and a good cup of coffee, are a recipe for a great day.
