Just had to sign up to write this review, after visiting these guys. While trying to replace the battery and hardrive on my iPod Classic to give it a new lease of life, the battery connector on the logic board unfortunately came off. Basically this means, that although the iPod will still work, it will no longer charge; meaning eventually the battery will run down to zero and it will only work when plugged in - not what you want for a portable music player.
Anyway, I was left with three options; splash out on a soldering kit and learn how to solder (it was quite a delicate job, good chance I'd mess it up), buy an entirely new logic board for close to $100, or try to get it repaired. So after a few searches online, I found these guys ten minutes down the road and decided to give them a shot; and glad I did.
Described to the friendly guy there what I needed (five tiny pins had to be soldered onto five spots on the board) and he told me he could fix it and to come back in half an hour. When I returned, the connector had been soldered back onto the board good as new (probably better) and he even didn't want to accept money for such a small job saying 'no problem, just take it home, hope you can get your iPod working again' when I asked how much he wanted for the job - although he did accept a small payment after I insisted.
Reinstalled the board into my iPod at home again, and it now works and charges good as new; and the new battery I installed with it means it now lasts for days and days like it used to. Anyway, although you can tell JAV Electronics is quite a small family business, what I experienced was an honest, friendly and professional service, which saved me a great deal of headaches and cost - highly recommended! read more
