The $1200 estimate, for PA inspection mind you, included $408 to replace VALVE COVER GASKETS, plus $580 to replace the upper left control arm. I had it towed here a year ago and the initial diagnosis was that I needed to replace the timing chain... $4k job. I OK'd the work and received a call when the parts came in. While prepping to do the tear down, the team found a loose ground cable. Instead of proceeding with the job and capitalizing on the customer, they verified that the cable was the issue and told me to come get the car. No charge. When I went to pick up the car the shop owner and his mother were just the loveliest people and gave us a tour of the shop and shared some great family stories with us. I left them "beer money" as a thanks for being honest and we went on our way. Needless to say, I ended up spending the $4k and taking the BMW back there to have the timing chain fixed as preventative maintenance and will continue to take our BMW there in the future.

Save your money and teach yourself a new skill. Rebuild it yourself, believe me it is NOT difficult and only requires a book, strict attention to details and a decent memory. (Details that Eric overlooked like excessive wear on the reverse input drum that he tried to reuse when it should have been thrown out) Once you did it once and worked out any bugs, you have a lifetime skill.

Again, whatever, I need my car and I'm held hostage by the shop so I approve the work. Well now there's continuing electrical issues with my car directly relating to the technicians bad crimp job on the harness they replaced and made me pay for. So I have to bring the car back to get fixed, do not get a courtesy vehicle, and get talked down the whole time I'm there. Come like 3 days after I finally get my car back I found two giant lugs left in my wiper area, cracking the inside of the plastic. I attemped to call twice, texted them probably about four times but still no answer. They respond quickly to a google review though!
