The place is rather tucked in on Serbiensgade in Amager - where we do acutely need good take away places compared to the more developed (restaurant-wise) Nørrebro or Vesterbro. It is around 5-minute walk to Lergravsparken metro station, so it's not that WAY OUT THERE in Amager *rolls eyes* The place is bright and decorated nicely so it doesn't feel like a take away place with grimy table and couple of plastic chairs. Just saying, you can eat there if you want. The food? Ah the food, the name itself is famous because the original Kiin Kiin is the only Thai place that has Michelin star (although I am pretty sure lots of restaurants in Thailand are better, just not recognised by what originally published as "car guide") We ordered nr 22 (sesame oil-fried shrimp coated with sesame seeds and served with wasabi mayo), 23 (Gau bao with sweet pork with peanuts and spring onions), 24 (Crispy calamari in panko-flour with chili mayo) for starters and nr 53 (Panang curry with beef and lychee and mixed vegetables served with jasmine rice) nr 62 (Pad Kra Pow - minced pork with chili and basil served with egg sunny side up) for main course. The snacks were average. My calamari was just like other calamari, but the bao was good (I am looking forward to trying kiin kiin bao!) and the chili mayo wasn't that strong either. The panang curry was delicious with heavy note of peanut sauce in it, just like the way it should be, but I kind of regret that I didn't order red curry instead (I don't eat chicken) because panang curry is always mild and I miss the burn in my tongue! The beef was thinly sliced and tasted wonderfully with the lychee (only 2??) and the broccoli and cauliflower were super good. They had the flavouring of the curry very well without being all limpy after being cooked to oblivion as most vegetables in curry do. Service was top too. I ordered by phone and told them that I would pick it up half an hour later and when I showed up, the food was still warm and ready for me to bring home, but there was a misunderstanding with the order as I ordered 22 and they thought I was ordering 27 (classic Danish number mistake) but they were very nice about it and replaced it immediately (with minimum waiting time) without complaints and apologised so many times for the inconvenience. The bill for my part of the food came up at around 210 DKK, way too expensive for take away, but with the quality of the food and the service, I gladly paid for it, although next time I might skip the snack and just stick to the main course - because the snacks weren't that much of worth (especially my calamari for 85 DKK - that could buy me damn good beef fried noodles in Magasasa already!)

Pad kra pow (115 dkk) comes with fresh coriander, Thai basil, bean sprouts, a perfectly fried egg, and jasmine rice. The pork was nicely spiced with chili but sweetened a little too much to try to balance it out. That was the most interesting thing on the menu; everything else was comparable to what you see on menus at other "Westernized" Thai takeaways. I was hoping for at least some better-looking Thai salads but I guess they don't want to overexcite the locals. Avoid the prawns that I got; the other starters looked much better. They serve fresh, homemade Thai food. The inside is very "hyggelig" and there are several little booths and a store where they sell handmade goods. All the profits benefit the community of Christiania. The cafe is very casual and has a dozen tables. The service was a bit slow, but then again I am very used to the speedy, New York service. The prices are pretty average for what a dinner will cost you in Copenhagen (110-140kr per main dish). The portions are huge, American sized and I ate every bite! It was a nice change from the awful, flavorless airplane food and by the time the food was served I was starving. I ordered the Pad Thai with Vegetables, which you can never go wrong with and was very happy with it. It was exactly what I needed after a long day. I had dinner with two friends and they both really enjoyed their meal, none of the dishes were very spicy. It was a lovely dinner for my first night back.

Early signs of autumn foul weather made us crave a warm, healthy and tasty lunch. Being two undergrads, it also needed to be affordable. On this day, at lunch time peak hour, it was busy but still cosy and possible to have a conversation. For my second visit, I recommended this place to my other peer. We were in a rush but wasn't willing to compromise on the meal quality. I knew from the first visit that this place serves quick, affordable and healthy warm lunches and it was near the place we were rushing to, so it was a perfect option. On this day, we arrived just prior to the lunch time peak hour, so we had the place to ourselves which definitely eased facilitating our only 35 min. visit (entrance to exit). During both visits I thought I experienced some language differences when making the order, or maybe it was all due to my semi-impaired hearing. However, it didn't have any major influence on getting the order across as the meals on the menu are presented in the form of numbers and in Danish and English. I do agree, with some of the other reviews, that the flavour intensity isn't overwhelming which comes down to a personal preference. You could probably have a stronger flavoured option on the plentiful menu. Remember, I've only tried two. All in all, a very nice, convenient and small place if you're after a hot healthy and affordable lunch. I am thankful for places like this and will probably go there again when I have my way pass.

Both Anders A and I ordered each something that was not on the menu: the whole fried fish with the red curry sauce and pork larb (the one they have on the menu is the chicken one). Both were very good and I'm glad that they didn't skimp on the chilli. The red curry fish wasn't quite like the one I had at Kalasin or recent venture to Stockholm's Tjabba Thai but it was good on its way and I was satisfied. For 145kr each, we came out from the restaurant full and happy. I think this and Thai Corner would probably be my favourite Thai place from now on.

Pad Thai is one of those ubiquitous dishes that's served everywhere, uses simple ingredients, and has such basic and recognizable flavours that any respectable Thai restaurant should get it right. When I think of Pad Thai, I think it's supposed to be a little sweet, a little spicy, with fragrant coriander, fishsauce and lime juice, and topped with crunchy peanuts. Ben Gaw's was missing all of those flavours and seemed to have been seasoned with primarily soy sauce. Yes, it did come with peanuts and a wedge of lime, but both those ingredients were bland. I was recommended this place from a friend who really likes it. I cannot recommend the Pad Thai, but some of the other curries are quite ok.

Is not too small... but bigger is better :)
