SUMMATION: Good variety of ordinary flowers, bushes, trees, vegetable plants, and all sorts of gardening supplies. Occasionally have unusual things. Good service and reasonable to cheap prices. Now take credit cards. Also, a pleasant location to just walk around and ogle plants.

OWNER: Jose A. Ojeda
LOCALITY: PR 361, Km 1.4, Cain Alto, Apartado 2824, San Germán, Puerto Rico 00683
LATITUDE, LONGITUDE: 18°5'59.82"N, 67°2'23.16"W
DIFFICULTY LOCATING: Easy, if you do not follow online maps [2].
DIRECTIONS: At a stoplight just to west of San German on PR 2. The new Conception Hospital is just to the east of this light. Turn north on the only road in the only direction available onto PR 361. Enjoy a nice old-growth canapé of trees, with the Cain River on the right. Take the first right (km 1.4), which seems further. Cross a stone cement bridge over the river and park in their parking lot. [2]
PARKING: Large, paved, private lot
OCCASION: Stopped by while in the area. Purchased 2 large, hanging, red Poiesettas, 1 red and pink one, Torch bromeliad (Guzmania 'Class') [A], and 2 bags of top soil. We have been going there for many years. They had some nice, large tropical pitcher plants [B].
LAYOUT: Drive in over narrow cement bridge over a river. Parking lot with spaces on both sides of road in front of entrance. Shop building on left of entrance, plant tables on right, also further ahead. Many more tables and trees in sight to right.
HOURS OF OPERATION: 8 am-5 pm Monday-Saturday
TYPE: Mostly flowering and ornamental plants, fruit trees, some garden vegetable plants, some other trees and palms, variety of flower pots, chemicals, stones, dirt etc., tree fern pieces, gardening supplies, and landscaping. We have a nice Minature Holly [C] bush from there.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
CUSTOMER:
(I) Be prepared to do some walking and to be in the sun.
(II) The staff will not bother you, but will help when asked.
MANAGER/OWNER:
(I) Plant varieties are a bit mundane and common. Occasionally, you have interest items. A few more would help.
COMPARISONS: Larger, better organized, more efficient, and cleaner than most local garden shops. Prices as-good-as or better.
REVIEWS: None I can locate.
HISTORY: Opened in 1995
FOOTNOTES:
[1] Plus thousands of unnumbered, critical article and book reviews for hundreds of journals.
[2] All the online map locations are incorrect usually with the business indicated on the wrong side of the river or wrong side of PR 2, and curiously in 7 different, wrong locations (even Google Maps).
SPECIES:
[A] I am not certain Botanists are even familiar with the concept of species.
[B] Tropical Pitcher Plant, Nempenthes spp., from the Old World tropics.
[C] Miniture Holly, Malpighia coccigera, is not a real holly and is native to the West Indies. read more
