I usually stick reviewing food and other culinary outlets. However my schedule is sometimes hit and miss. I do recommend Jan's however. She is friendly welcoming and reasonable in her prices for a shave and haircut. She possesses a nice steady hand with a razor. And I will be returning there for a shave and haircut. And I hope her business thrives for a long time. read more

Jan was amazing! So kind with my grandfather and an experienced barber. Always come back for her and only her. Recommend to anyone around to go and see her. read more

Got a haircut from Jan last month. Another great haircut. She is in the same place but the shop has a different owner. Call Her for an appointment. read more

Jan does an exceptional job. Best cut I've had in a long time. She is very personable to converse with.

Love Jan. Hooked me up while I was in Florida for my daughters wedding. She's engaging and charming and knows her craft

Excellence in a world of franchise mediocrity. I have been going there for years and always had a good cut. Its a bit of a drive for me but worth the trip! read more

Not very welcoming. But whatever's. Not here to make friends just a haircut. And still disappointed. She told me to go with the Latino barbers.. read more

Great hair cut at a good price. Jan was a pleasure to talk with. I highly recommend her barbershop. I am thankful my neighbor recommended Jan to get my haircut. She did a wonderful job! read more

I went to Jan's for the first time yesterday. I recently moved to the area, and had a haircut at another local barbershop that was meh. I felt welcome at Jan's, it was a good haircut, and I fell a fair value. I will surely be back. I'm glad I found a great local place! read more

If you ever make it to Davenport, FL or in the area and need of a good haircut, look no further! Jan's Barber Shop is the place to go......she will make you look like an all star! Professional, great conversation, the place is clean and ensure all precautions are taken during COVID-19 crisis....so do not let that deter you from getting a haircut at Jan's Barber Shop. This is the spot to go for a good haircut if you are in the need to make an impression. Please keep up the great work! read more

What a joke They should sell meat there because it's a butcher shop!!! If you like to get sheared like a sheep this is your kind of place. Run those shears over your head and bang you're done. Of course, the clientele like it so no complaints from them. read more

New to the area, first time stopping in.. First thing I noticed was all the cool memorabilia on the walls...2nd thing, was the lady cutting hair, Jan, she greeted me , said it would be about 10 minutes. Jan was spot on with the time, very friendly...sprayed, disinfected the chair before I sat down and she went to work. I have to jump forward and then come back....the conversation and Jan's personality are enough to make me want to come back... ok, back to real time...we talked, some current events, some work stuff, some just...chatting.. anyway... she did a phenomenal job, Jan is regular folk... not pretentious, not bored.. she likes her job and she likes people... she is VERY good at her job... this is a great place, normally I wanna be in and out... today... I wanted to stay and have a beer with Jan and just BS about whatever. Please don't hesitate to stop in.. Jan knows customer service , conversation and certainly cutting hair!!! Thank you for a great cut and conversation... I will be back my friend read more

Fantastic service! Opens early, so you can get in and out and then start your day with a clean cut. Friendly service and efficient. highly recommend and takes walk-ins. read more

Terrible experience. She was very rough with my 4 year old who was sitting very still for her. She ended up cutting his neck with the trimmer, which was bleeding, and continued to try and cut his hair while he was crying. I had to remove him from the chair myself and tell her to stop. We were all horrified. We were just visiting the area. Now I know why she didn't have anyone in there when we showed up. read more

This is a fantastic place! Such a comfortable welcoming environment and feel. Walked in was greeted right away by a friendly smile and hello. Took my seat in the waiting area there was 2 gentleman ahead of me. Very comfortable seating with a television. When it was my turn I took my seat in the chair and engaged in great conversation while getting a fantastic haircut. Jan is a wonderful person to talk to and I couldn't be happier with the haircut I received. I am new to this area and very excited I have now found my local place to get a good cut. I will a regular here for sure! read more

Called on the phone and she was 'too busy to answer questions'. How can one be to busy for a potential customer. She just directed me to yelp to read reviews. Thanks Jan that's what I did. I found another Barbara shop that was a bit more customer based. Pass this place up, go elsewhere. read more

My husband stopped going there because the price went up every time he walked through the door. Also did not care for her sharing her political views. Not the same as my husbands so that may be why the price kept going up. Very unprofessional! read more

Jan has been my barber for many years now always pleasant to speak to very clean environment and doesn't wonderful job

Stop in for a hair cut here and met The one and only Jan. The atmosphere was clean and very quiet and for good reason. I asked for a military hair cut which is pretty common these days and ok coarse I came to a "Barber Shop" Jan informed me she didn't cut hair like a Mexican would like and she said they were racist . I still let her cut my hair . Not knowing how much anger she had built up she didn't even come remotely close to a hair cut presentable for church . Hair gel can fix that but she will cut your hair the way she wants not the way you request . Jan I think retirement is in your future . Hope things haven't better for you . read more

Came to orlando for the week just needed to get a quick haircut. The lady stopped me at the door not even letting us inside. She said can i help you... i said, i need a haircut( hence me going into a barbershop) she said sorry i don't do latino edge-ups... i felt really offended . My brother having long hair and wanting to get a haircut asked what does she do she said she rather us go to the " Latino Edge up Place". If you're latino this is not the place for us. read more

Nice lady, bad haircut. I get it trimmed with scissors on the top and buzzed on the sides. Came out super uneven and weird. Sideburns are comically crooked. Jan was nice, so it is unfortunate that the haircut didn't come out well. read more

I've been here a couple times now and appreciate the nice quick haircuts. I'm in there long enough for a little small talk and then out the door. My hair is cut just as I like it, the place is clean, and the ladies are friendly. I recommend going to see Jan. read more

Jan's is awesome! I was in town and was looking for a good barbershop. Got a great haircut and shave. Jan is fun and makes you feel welcome. Very good energy in the shop and a quality cut and shave for a good price. I will be coming back when I'm in town again. 5 stars all the way!!! read more

This lady rocks!! Fixed my hair from a previous encounter with an armature barber shop! She is wicked cool and fair prices!! Knows how to style men's hair along with a proper edge! I will be returning for sure!!! read more

Even though I've only been here once, the service and the quality of the haircut were beyond what I expected. I am very picky about my barber shops and was scared to go here at first but I went here because of the reviews. I am an introvert so talking in the chair does not come naturally to me but the barber I had was very genuine and nice and easy to talk to. He took the time to deliver the haircut the way that I wanted it. I will definitely be going back. Jan was also very courteous. read more

The best haircut is a quick and efficient haircut, IMO. This is exactly what I got from Jan on this Wednesday afternoon. Hair looks good, and I feel good after a pleasant conversation with my new friend Jan from London. Thank you! read more

Been here twice now and both times I got a terrible, uneven, haircut. The stylist was nice but she seemed like she was more concerned with socializing than working. read more

Been in great barber shops all over the world, and this place was bad! More of a hairsalon with half a decent haircuts, does not know how to give a good shave, left a cut and hair sticking out everywere. read more

Probably the worst hair cut I've ever had....she left my sideburns so uneven! Like it was awful! And I asked for pointed sides, I don't think she even knows what that is. All for $20....to have bits of hair longer than other parts. Please don't go there! I don't know how other people gave her 5 star reviews. They can't be real. read more

Jan's barber shop is great! I'd much rather go here than any of the franchise salons in town. There is never a long wait and Jan is great to talk to. This is my go to barber shop and highly recommend it!! read more

Terrific haircut and great conversation. I'm converted.

I love Jan! Clean comfy shop. Nice conversation. Fantastic cut. I send my friends here. I often am very picky with my barbers and I have the absolute least worries here. She always does a great job. read more

A lot of these reviews seem a little too similar, almost like they were written by a female. I mean...I've never seen so many dudes into a "good conversation" when they get a 15-20 min haircut. read more

Love this place for a cut. The owner is an ex pat Brit and is great to chat with.

I'm usually pretty skittish when it comes to trying a new barber shop, as I have had some pretty horrific experiences in the past. I did some Googling and Yelping in the area to see about reviews and pricing of a handful of local shops and ended up finding many positive reviews for Jan's, which conveniently was one of the closest shops to me. After deciding to make the trip over, I can confidently tell you that I won't need to look elsewhere for hair cuts as long as I'm a resident of Polk County. Jan was very personable, there was no appointment necessary and I received one of the nicest cuts I've had in a long while for less than a Jackson. She actually paid attention to the look I was going for and unlike many stylists I've encountered, delivered. Well worth the few extra bucks over one of the other local cheapy chop shops without question, who usually leave your head looking like a student cut it and had a real field day with the buzzer, with the wrong size guard no less. read more

Awful experience here.. Lady cutting hair needs to learn some customer service.... Came in for a easy military cut and left w uneven hair and paid $20 for this!!! Lady cutting hair never introduced herself, told me that I was the last customer of the day and she sure made seem like I was.. Did not take her time to do a good job.. Never asked me how I wanted the back of my hair clean. Whether squared, rounded etc.. Just did her thing.. Never showed me how it looked in the end, just kicked me out of the chair.. She didnt do my side burns and my neck wasnt even clean! My wife had to finish the job when I got home! Oh and she also added a tip for herself in my CC WITHOUT my authorization... To sum up things, I will never come back and will not recommend to anybody I know ! I also never paid $20 for a military cut before.. So save yourself some money and headache and go to a REAL baber shop and not a wanna be.... read more

Best haircut in a very long time. Good conversation, pleasant atmosphere and very reasonable.

I never write reviews but the service i received from this place was so excellent i felt the need to let everyone know about it. I took my son to get a cut and as soon as i walked in i was greeted with friendly faces .The gentleman that cut my sons hair is named Cesar. I will definitely keep going back to get my sons haircut and have also told my husband about this place.Cesar went above and beyond to make my experience at jans a great one he took his time , was very polite and very knowledgable helping me out in deciding on the type of cut that would look best on my son. Ive been to many barber shops before and none compare to jans :-) read more

My barber told me that she is not technical with her cuts and that was noticeable with her finishing result as she never touched scissor or showed any skill. When the barber was shaving the edge of the cut in the back she did the minimum nothing more that she had to. When it came down to paying I had to walk to Walgreens to get cash and when I got back the barber was back at her table outside with her coffee and cigarette. read more

A great, clean, friendly place for a great cut! Jan always styles my hair just as I ask. Sometimes there's a little bit of a wait if you don't make an appointment, but she always goes in the order of arrival for walk-ins and the wait is worth it. Glad I found someone who can handle and tame the wisps and cowlicks. read more
