Nice pickle tray, good grilled meats in the mixed starter and rich and unusual curries. We got a North Indian garlic curry chicken which had a great kick and slightly unusual features of button mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. The other dish looked like a fairly standard tomato based offering but had chickpeas in it as well as meat, again a bit different and really tasty. (note: we seem to have been charged £2.00 for the curries we chose, hadn't seen that in the small print so you may want to check with your waiter). The not so good - Restaurant was really cold - Even thought they have a beautiful outlook they seated everyone there in the back half of the restaurant where you can't see the view - really weird - Service was glacially slow, the meal took well over 2 hours and it was incredibly hard work getting our bill and paying. They seemed to have a fair amount of people working so not obvious why this was. Overall, I would definitely come back here and would recommend if you're ever in Bollington (it's a stop on the Middlewood Way, so it could happen!)

So much so that my brother (who could eat for England) had to go up to one of the waiters half way through to ask if the new plate of food that had just arrived was finally the main meal or not - it wasn't! We were completely stuffed by the time the main meals actually arrived! The food was delicious and they even catered for a nut allergy sufferer (most Indians use nut oil, almonds etc. but the Viceroy were happy to omit these) Will definitely be back.

We regularly have take aways from here, and my children love the kormas and the chicken tikka massala. The starters are good - particularly the onion bhajis and the kebabs (shami and sheek) and I am a great fan of the chicken biryiani. They have a loyalty card scheme where you save 10% on all meals, making it great value. Staff are pleasant and always friendly and eating in here is also a fun experience with reasonable prices on both food and drinks.

The food is excellent, we went in with a large party, the service was slow but as I said that could be because of the large number of people. It has only opened recently but I think the management have been responsible for a number of great curry joints on the wicker. This restaurant is fitted out in a modern style and more contemporary than many of it's kind. I haven't tried the grill but others have commented that it's very good.

I won't be going back here.

The quality of the food and the flavour is one which is unique as is there cooking style and they have an open kitchen too so you can watch the chefs cook your meal while you wait! Unlike many Indian takeaways where everything is behind closed doors which makes me feel a bit worried about the food. I rang the takeaway for a collection order where I was greeted in a very friendly and welcoming manner, I then placed my order and was told by the chap that we are extremely busy tonight and therefore we will have your meal ready to collect in half an hour and asked if that was okay? Which I thought was very quick considering the order. I then went to collect the meal where I was amazed to see the place was packed with people so many so that there was barely any room to stand in the shop never mind sit down on the very comfy looking sofas! I then went over to the counter and asked the chap if my meal was ready and paid, within around a minute the chap had packed up the meal and then presented it to me very politely thanked me and wished me a pleasant evening which I thought was very friendly. I was very impressed by the way everything was going so far and I must say that the takeaway is very classy indeed and had a great atmosphere. I couldn't wait to get home and tuck in to the food after seeing so many people there I knew this place must be good. I wasn't disappointed either! Full of flavour, generous portions, excellent value for money and service with a smile. This place is most definitely the best Indian I have had and am now hooked by the quality food and friendly service. Keep up the amazing work Taj you've got my support and I am looking forward to my next curry!

Tenderstem broccoli - I think this was chargrilled or something similar and it had such much flavour Manchurian cauliflower - sweet and sticky sauce paired perfectly with some really tasty cauliflower - don't think I've ever had cauliflower taste that good (even without the sauce!) Fried chicken - perfectly cooked, slightly spicy breadcrumbs, excellent contrasting mint/coriander dip Roast lamb - perfectly tender and juicy with great accompanying sauce and garnish Bhel puri and chickpea curry were a little sweet for my personal tastes but still very nice. I didn't try the onion bhaji but it looked magnificent and I will get it next time. Cocktails wise, the twisted knickers was refreshingly lemony and I liked my G&T with apricots - something a bit different (and there's a huge range of other gins as well). Service was excellent - swift, helpful and friendly - and staff seemed happy to be working there! The restaurant decor is really cool - colourful and comfortable and there's seating both out front and in the adorable back garden. Loved the tropical wallpaper in the toilets, too! Highly recommend you go for a canal stroll and end up here one weekend.
